Why don't militaries give front line soldiers full body bullet proof armor like Juggernauts from call of duty or bomb disposal units in movies?

Too bulky and stands out too much or what?
>>
>>33560594
Money, weight, training, and various other common sense reasons. Now go to sleep, you have class tomorrow.

Too, hot, too heavy, nobody wants to wear that much shit, most of it doesn't stop rifle rounds anyway.

Not OP but what about clear face masks for helmets? It doesn't have to be bullet resistant but it could at least be strong enough for shrapnel and it could help protect your eyes and face again'st sand, dirt or other debree
>>
>>33560594
Because that's asking to get hit with an RPG, not to mention overheating and fatigue from such.
>>
The forecast high temperature in Basrah tomorrow is 94 degrees. 109 by the same time next week. It's only April.
>>
>>33560594
Several reasons.

>mobility
Several vital areas on the human body can't be armored without turning each soldier into a human pillbox (pelvic girdle is where to shoot when swat ninja black helicopters come for you)

>Temperature
In sandy shitholes where the daytime temperature is above 100 most of the time, you aren't going to want to wear an extra 20lbs of gear

>EOD suits

Those suits aren't bulletproof, they are mostly for the hope that if a bomba goes of there is enough left of you to put into a bag, instead of you being turned into a puree and scattered over a couple hundred square meters. hence why there are stories of EOD guys saying fuck it and dealing with explosives wearing T-shirts.
>>
>>33560617
>Because real life isn't a computer game.
>>
Back pain is one of the most common problems for vets, they already make soldiers carry too much shit.
>>
>>33560932
>enough left of you to put into a bag
If you're in the primary of a big bomb, the suit's going evaporate as well, mostly its there to protect against the secondary and tertiary radius of smaller explosives- which it actually does quite well. Plus they'll also put in smaller anti-personnel charges to kill EOD teams getting close to investigate, hence why the robot became everyone's friend despite them being power hungry little sluts and sometimes not working.

They do work as intended up to a point.
>>
>>33560617
This.
If you had ever had to wear body armor and equipment for more than 3 minutes you would know how shitty it is.
>>
>>33560643
I'd rather get shot than have to wear all that shit
>>
Well, in Rainbow Six Vegas, wearing full armor lets you take 2 more bullets at most. Usually just one. If you receive a headshot, armor does nothing at all. Most players online wore no armor because it lets you move faster. It's kind of like how it is in Dark Souls, where it's better to avoid damage than tank it.

I think in real life, the best defense is a better offense. Shooting them before they shoot you, suppression, speed, decisiveness, accurate fire, ect. It's all much better than letting the enemy shoot back at all.

Mfw that movie was filmed 10 minutes away from me
>>
>>33560594
Bomb disposal suits are mostly soft armor designed to absorb shockwaves. It might save you from a grenade but it won't stop a rifle.
It's like how a lot of bulletproof vests won't stop a knife.
>>
The first movie was great, everything that followed the first one was dumb and had awful cinematography

>>
>>33560765
Visor makes helmets front heavy and causes neck pains.
Ballistic goggles are far better for long time use.
>>
>>33560594
>full blown body armor
>only has a PDW and SMG
why?
>>
>>33560594

Would work well if you knew 120% your enemies would only have and be using small arms.

So never.

This right here.

I already have a bunch of crap on me. Last thing I need is to take more speed penalties, just to increase my armor class rating by a couple of points.
>>
>>33560610
making macaroni pictures and watching sesame street hardly qualifues as class
>>
>>33560594
All your grunts will kill themselves on their first patrol, if they don't die of heatstroke first, or exhaustion afterwards
>>
I did the math a while ago based on the surface area of an average human male and the weight of level 3 uhmwpe armor, it came out to be around roughly 80 pounds for full coverage. Level 3 uhmwpe is also fairly easy to penetrate with the proper ammunition.
>>
>>33560643
holy fuck how do they expect people to run in that shit. Anything larger than intermediate rounds or even intermediate rounds themselves would go through it anyway
>>
They already are. It's called the Ratnik program in Russia.
>>
>>33562971
can't use full length stocks because the armor would get in the way
also he's in an urban area and it's unlikely that he would have to engage past 100m
don't get me wrong though i'm all for .308 (or meme round) sbr's instead
>>
>>33566354
>can't use full length stock
This is why power armor is the future. We'll all be using magnums without stocks because the arm servos will lock up on command to completely eliminate recoil.
>>
>>33560594
I'd like to see you hike through the mountains of Afghanistan wearing all that shit.
>>
>>33562107
the move was a pointless wank fest. I would pay to get that hour and a half of my life back.
>>
>>33560594

It's heavy and you can't be sure where the front line is any more. Also, the logistics of getting someone that heavy somewhere in the first place.
>>
>>33560765
Would probably be too hard to take off in a hurry if it got dirty or fogged in the middle of a firefight.
>>
In the front line three things matter:
1. Fire
2. Movement
3. Supplies

Take away the movement and your just an easy target that shoots back.

it limits their ability to maneuver, which is a building block of modern small arms doctrine
>>
>>33560594
do you know how heavy and hot that shit is?

thats fucking why

just try walking around with an AR500 carrier for the day and tell me how you feel

full armor seriously limits movement which is key for survival

the idea is to not get hit in the first place

Probably designed to protect against the artillery of a decent opponent inside an APC or in a treanch. Not their fault you're playing pollice in the 3rd world.
