What's /ic/ thoughts on the matter/. I know everything we need is at the grasp of our finger with downloads and forms. What if you're a visual learning and need interaction to learn?

It'll raise your game , do it.

Took it, interesting experience.
I recommend you take at least once.
Most important thing that I took away from it was that by drawing consistently so often, I improved greatly.
There's not much interaction though, so don't expect that. Sometimes there is, just to see what other people are up to or how they did something, but unless it's like an advanced class, then no one really seems to know what they're doing. Only like three or so people do.
A lot of assignments that you won't want to do though because they're shit and take a lot of time.
im still /beg/ so take this as is. at my uni we needed to take some art appreciation class so i took drawing 101 while everyone went with gay history of rocknroll even though i wasnt drawing back then. it got my confidence way fucking up in terms of art and i got a lot of experience with values since everything was done in pencil and charcoal. that said i didnt touch pencil to paper for arts sake for like 6 years srs

channel that frustration into good and interesting pieces of art. git gud, THEN kill yourself if you so choose.
Did this shitty oil painting a couple years ago--its a DMV. What could I do to make it less shitty in time for a big show, aside from setting it on fire?

Get rid of that muddy yellow shadow on the wall and floor.

I like everything but that old lady at the back wall, very distracting
It looks like u got bored halfway through and wanted to finish it so u half ass shaded the rest of the painting.
What tools do manga artist use to color? I'm not too fond of using color pencils so I was wondering if there is some other (non digital) alternative.

Is it possible to become a decent artist while working a non-art-related full time job (40 - 50 hours per week)?
Asking because I will soon start one and I feel very intimidated by it.
Just thinking about being exhausted as fuck and then trying to draw gives me nightmares.
>>2919661
Yes if it's a typical 9 to 5. Just invest in a coffee maker because you will be tired after exhausting your energy to the norms. If you are working 60 hours a week you're fucked.
Yes, you just need to make time for yourself and slip it into your routine. It'll be harder than if you were a NEET (though I think many NEETs suffer from a lack of routine that leads to crippling anxiety and procrastination anyway), but depending on how hard you go you can get a few hours a day in (a well spent hour a day over a few years will still get you "decent" anyway).
What time does your work start, how long does it take you to get there? If it starts at 9 and takes you an hour transit, wake up at 6 or 7 and draw before work. Are you bussing or driving? If bussing and it's not too bumpy, draw. If it's bumpy, read an art-related book. Listen to a podcast in the car. Do you get a lunch hour? Draw on your lunch hour. What time do you get home? Draw when you get home. Are you waiting for dinner to finish cooking? Draw. Unwinding before bed? Draw before bed.
I'm not saying you need to do all those things, but I am saying even working full time there's more than 8-10 hours in the day that you're probably not using on anything anyway. IMO the morning is the best time. If you're tired and unproductive after work, go to bed an hour early and wake up an hour early the next day, and use the time you have before you're fatigued. You should have no excuse of "I'm too tired" in the morning if you got 7-8 hours sleep, and if you didn't get 7-8 hours of sleep, you might not have been as tired after work as you thought.

how on earth do you guys draw while bussing
i can understand doing it if you're on an early bus and it's nearly empty except for you but 80% the bus is so crowded and packed that the only thing i can focus my attention on is keeping my backpack close to me
plus it smells like sweat
Paint Tool SAI is being a shit so I'd like some help. I typically work on larger canvases, about 3000x4000, which has never been a problem for me, typically has always worked fine. Within the last two weeks or so, working in such a large canvas gives me an error saying "Not enough memory, edit cancelled". I've searched it, and several people are stating it has to do with RAM and Sai's only allowing a certain percentage of it. I've always had 4GB of RAM and it's never given me this issue before. Is there another underlying cause of this?
Are you runnign any other software beside SAI? The easiest solution with your canvas size and 4gb of memory is to close other programs.
Hello, any good guides for drawing with alcohol markers? im particularly interested in architectural drawing, specifically how to select and combine colors

i use to use them for ID renderings in school.
the right paper is everything, ink should STAY wet on the surface (for a few seconds), imho Canson marker pro layout is great for this (copics). Though everyone might tell you it's Bienfeng 360 used "flipped over". If you use the wrong paper it absorbs all the ink, makes blending impossible and just ruins your markers life.
Are there any self taught visual development artists? Most I see go to school and build contacts there. Is it possible for me teach myself the same information/skills and build contacts through careful planning and thinking? Also any tips on the vis dev field are welcomed.

I don't think you really know what you are talking about. I suggest lurking a bit more and perhaps use google to check out forums and the 'usual terms' for artists.
its called concept art. there are plenty. start a porfolio on different websites and communicate
I finished all of figure drawing books from Vilppu, Hogarth, Loomis, and Hampton.
Are there any other decent books on the subject?
Post your work
if you're asking for more figure drawing books, something tells me you're not really absorbing the material. draw from life then go back to the books, they will seem new to more experienced eyes. (bammes is good though.)

Hey, I'm looking for an artist to work with me on a visual novel
The game is relatively short so it won't be much work I just need someone to draw out the characters. There's 7 characters that need to be drawn.
I'm happy if you want to use a simple style like the one in the picture
If you're interested hmu on discord Lemon#0382 or email me at [email protected] where I'm happy to discuss things like payment.
considering it!
you might get an email if you dont hate pic related

I'd probably want them to be a bit less "thiccc". But I like how you did the face and I think the style would fit the game so yeah go for it

What do you guys take away from this?
context: el Sexto is a Cuban dissident artist who gets illegally arrested a lot for speaking out against the government and la Revolucion. This drawing is one of many found in a notebook that someone managed to get from him while he was in jail.

Looks like something I did in art school...
What is it now?
>>2919677
This is what I've gotten out of it so far:
The cardboard person/thing on the top is a "thief." Another one of the drawings depicts a similar flat looking human thing and is titled "the Sunflower Thief." Pic related. The thief is riding atop two people dressed in motley and silly clothes. It holds a noxious/smelly bag of cash and a hanged freedom fighter.
I think the thief represents the faceless leaders of the country that are riding atop the "fools" that believe in the system.
The long nose and the notes that say "verdad" (truth) suggest that the person on the bottom is either a liar or caught up in the lies being spread around. The bottom two men seem to be carrying the burden, both metaphorically and literally, of the thief and don't look happy about it.
Stuff I can't make out is why the thief has a spoon and a pot (?) in his stomach, why the thief has the rope woven into him, and why there are three people and not just two.
What do you guys think?
