So I've been using this shit for almost a decade now, and it's starting to become an outdated hassle. I use it for all my drawings and purchased it at Best Buy for about $80 back in high school.
Anyone know where I can download a better, or more up to date drawing software or PS for free?
I have a Mac, so Sai and other popular options are difficult.
photoshop's like 10 bucks a month from adobe.
and you can always pirate it
CS 2 is free
Krita?
Found a bunch of my notebooks from 7th/8th grade. I used to draw in class a lot, so i'm going to post some of the cooler things i made.

You're gonna make it.

But will it be worth it without someone to share it with
>>2917693
Sounds great imo
Anyone else get physically fucking angry over how the tastes of pleb normies is king in all creative fields?
If only they didn't have such shitty fucking standards and tastes it would be bearable.

This holds ESPECIALLY true for fetish art.
Normalfags jack off to anything catering to their fetish regardless of quality.
That thread about giving away gifts left my email compromised after sending one

You only have yourself to blame.

Compromised? How?

it's like you are new to the internet
Japanese animators;
Work Hard
Make shit wages
But still manage to produce great content

American animators
Tumblrinas who demand high wages despite having no experience
as unprofessional as you can get; will send you death threats if you don't refer to them by their 5th pronoun
Won't draw anything more complicated than some shitty flash animated MLP level shit or their harry potter yaoi fanart
if asked to do actual work, they blame the patriarchy, call their studios racist and homphobic and whine about it on twitter and tumblr
No anon that's all Americans
We know already, geez.
>not only do they work hard and make little pay, the japanese pros are using software from the late 90s, too
JUST
I do admire the Japanese process and precision. I enjoyed seeing Miyazaki paint his own storyboards in a previous doc.
This documentary is funny because you see how a 3D sketch becomes flat with subsequent tracing. the flat style has infected American animation since the 50's and it's not going away any time soon. The problem is that US toons also have flat backgrounds because they want the environments to look like a department store or a virtual billboard -- in contrast, anime excels in environments.
Hi/ic/, im an amateur illustrator, mostly black and white stuff (i love ink). Everytime i realise a new artwork, i don,t like it.. When im in the process (study, inking, Shades) i like what i do, but once its finished i just see the flaws, the unoriginilaty of the piece. I can,t get any satisfaction about my own work and sometimes it seems to demotivate me a lot. I try to draw 2-3hours a day minimum. How do you overwhelm this feeling of not doing enough good or smart ? Pic unrelated
Suck it up and get better, what answer did you expect?
I do get better yeah. But it seems that all of THis is pointless.. should i try to develop a real project ? Maybe use the drawing to develop something like a story can be good ?
Is there a particular mindset that you need to improve upon drawing and how do you get it?
Often I find that drawing becomes more frustrating than fun and I quit whenever things never go my way. So how do I make it so I keep drawing no matter what happens?
I think the best way to go is asking yourself what you did wrong with the drawing. If you did everything wrong, focus on one specific thing to improve on with the next drawing.
With this approach I only want to kill myself twice a week. Good luck Anon

Yep, as soon as it begins to feel enfuriating and shit doesn't go your way, you continue forwards anyway. Sooner or later you find a solution. You don't get to just have fun in life, you can't get one without the other in art either.
Learn to enjoy the pain, it's part of the package. And what's more, once you learn to enjoy it, well pain is not as painful anymore.
If you are a /beg/inner in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the drawthread with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.
OLD THREAD: >>2915693
I've realized I've been striving to get better, doing studies and learning as much as I can. Not because I really love it, rather I just want to get better. I don't have a love for drawing that allows me to go for 24/7 and I wonder if I'll be able to catch up to those who can draw nonstop and love it every step of the way. I'm starting to get burnt out and get distracted easily now as well which doesn't feel good
>witches
Good taste. I sometimes wonder how much I want to get better because while I do, that feeling isn't so strong that it stops me from doing anything else. I have too much control, got to learn how to let loose like you, OP.
>>2917452
Feeling that way is pretty normal. But it sounds like you're plateauing/dipping in the mastery curve. Maybe you just need something to stimulate the next spike in improvement.
>>2917463
this
I need more like this, gentleman.
Post it please.

bump, although maybe look for the artist
/ic/, I want the best damned textbook on color theory you can get. Whatcha got for me?
>>2916825
James Gurney Color and Light
>>2916826
Thank, daddy
>>2916830
Don't listen to him. Really don't, Gurney book is a meme that teaches nothing.
Here, grab these as best resources you can get:
http://www.huevaluechroma.com/011.php
https://www.handprint.com/HP/WCL/wcolor.html
Both of these are heavily autistic and this is what you need.
Supplement it with "Color: A Workshop for Artists" by David Hornung, it is excellent book in such way that it actually proposes EXERCISES and color STUDIES that you should be doing alongside the book. 5/5 would recommend.
>b-but Gurney talks about pigments and stuff
Shut the fuck up, that info is everywhere, one of the most complete ones you have on handprint that I already linked, you can find a fuckton of watercolor and gouache pigments there:
https://www.handprint.com/HP/WCL/wpaint.html
Supplement everything with "How to Render" by Scott Robertson and after getting all that knowledge wonder why are you still lazy piece of shit that doesn't fucking paint. Goddamnfuck, just do it, you learn most of it by experimentation and practice.
Just looking for honest opinions and critiques
I don't this sort of thing often, just wanna know how I did
>>2915843
thats really good stuff
>>2915843
How can you be so good and so shit at the same time?
>>2915843
I suggest you start with a hard graphite before coming in with the final charcoal. This will help you to avoid erasing charcoal lines. I use light, medium, black and white charcoal pencils only after my hard graphite drawing is complete.
I don't know if this is the right board to discuss this but I wanted to know why nudity or the imagery not wearing of under garments can be both used to portray sensuality and innocence/purity at the same time.
Is there any name for this kind of style depicting mix of sensual and innocent imagery of a girl with an ethereal aura of natural beauty?
Purity?
