Is it true that past Japanese armies(like kamasutra period or earlier) before the invasion of the mongols l, used to have a style of warfare with single combat where one dude from each opposing side would fight at a time, one on one, rather than using multiple units to out flank the opposing army like most armies in the world did at the time?
Why would anyone do that as a primary strategy?

Have you heard about the kings of Finland? According to the theories the Finns were the original people of Northern Europe that lived in the ancient kingdom of Finland, spanning all the way from Norway to what we now call Kazakhstan. Among other things the theories posit that Sweden, Norway, Normandy, and Russia were created by Finnish kings. The researchers base their claims on the fact that many historical figures and texts have provenly spoken about Finland as a kingdom.

Among other things Catherine the Great wrote in German at least one work where she described Rurik, her viking ancestor and the founder of Russia, as a Finnish Varangian. Many historians also wrote about Finland as an ancient kingdom. The most notable of these is maybe Muhammad al-Idrisi, a historian from the world's oldest university. In addition there are Icelandic sagas that tell about the adventures of Finnish kings. Though sagas are shrouded in myth and fantasy their roots were in historical events. There has also been archeological finds in Finland and Karelia of coins depicting unknown kings.

These Finnish king researchers posit that this history has been systematically destroyed as a political weapon against Finns to destroy our sense of identity and make it easier for the surrounding powers to culturally and politically invade us.

Have you heard about this before and what are your thoughts on it?

Basically, Hitler wanted to re-arm Germany, a hugely expensive process, while at the same time maintaining a robust welfare state to ensure that he had a broad base of a support. This shit is expensive, and it was paid for secretly running a huge budget deficit which was hidden from most of the German government through fancy accounting tricks.

TLDR: Imagine somebody sealing money from his neighbors to try and pay off credit card debt.
>>
>>2999266
Germany's economic miracle of the 1930's was possible mostly due to massive overspending on public works projects (Autobahn, Olympic Stadiums, etc) and military production for rearmament, and the country took on serious loans in order to cover the costs for rebuilding the country from the ground up.

normally that would be a case for quick rise and long crash once it came time to pay up, but Hitler's intention from the start was to conquer and reap the spoils of war to repay the debt, hence why they made such an effort to collect billfolds, jewelry, gold teeth, and other possessions from the dead in order to refill the coffers to plug back into the economy both for war and for their public works projects.

If Hitler did not go through with conquest and instead drove the economy into the ground through overspending, the economy would've bottomed out by the early 1940's.

Tuol Sleng prison in Phnom Penh. This place was a fucked up hellhouse in which almost 20,000 people were interned. There are only 7 known people who survived as prisoners.

The prison was operated by the Santebal, the Khmer Rouge's secret police force that was headed by Kang Kek Iew.

Julian was the most glorious example of the Greco-Roman Pagan ideal of a Hero-Philosopher-Priest-King who had everything going for them and then tragically fucks everything up like a fucking retard due to MUH HUBRIS.

>Beloved by everyone in the West
>When you claim the throne in the East you get shitstomped
>Retreat to a fortress, besieged by Christian troops
>Suddenly the Emperor in the East fucking dies; you inherit
>Purge the Empire of Christian bureaucrats causing an administrative re-invigoration and massive increase in government efficiency
>Slash taxes, economy on the up
>Come up with your own whacky religious system, people love it and love you for it
>Oh, the Eastern armies don't like that I'm not a Christian? I'll just bribe them.
>Consult the Oracle at Delphi
>She says not to invade Persia
>Do it anyways
>Shot by some Persian sandnigger then get murdered by own troops at camp
And then everything he worked for gets utterly undone. His only lasting legacy is his work "Against the Galileans" still blowing Christians out of the water to this day and we don't even have his best arguments, just the ones the Church could come up with counters to.

How did the Serb Nationalists ever think they could get away with all this? Were they actually retarded or something? No wonder NATO had to put them down.

Greedy cunts.

Because that is more or less what was promised to Serbia in the 1915 London agreement, and also, while looking at the ethnic map of Yugoslavia it does make some sense, with the unfortunate point being that central Slavonia is majority Croat while Eastern and Western are not (and the whole "Muslim" national identity thing that i ain't getting into).

Why didn't it happen?
Furthermore, how would history be different if it did?

EXPLORING THE NOOKS AND CRANNIES OF EARLY-MEDIEVAL HISTORY: WHEN CLASSICAL BECAME DARK-AGE*

>*I know the out-of-fashion term "dark ages" triggers academics. Live with it.

"A poor Roman plays the Goth, a rich Goth the Roman"
-King Theoderic of the Ostrogoths

Let us take a stroll through the misty vallies of the Early Medieval. Perhaps we could focus on dusty corners that get less attention than they deserve. Possible topics for discussion include:

>Ravenna as the last bolthole of the Western Empire
>Early post-Empire Rome
>When exactly did the Greco-Roman religion breathe its last? (Don't say "never": That's a greasy cop-out).
>Clovis and the weird-ass world of Frankish culture
>Most academic studies of 7th-century history focus on the Muslim expansion. Let's turn the spotlight on the neglected dregs of Western civilization during that darkest of dark ages, for a change.

It was brief but it was shit compared to what followed, so it's hardly a "brief shaft of sunlight".

Who were the last people in the former Western Roman Empire to consider themselves Romans and in roughly what timeframe? What about the last native Romance speakers in Britain?

Aren't the Dutch basically the descendants o the group of Franks that managed to hold on to their language?

Have the Vandals left any trace of their presence in North Africa?

A class or possibly caste of priests of the Celtic faith, based in Britain but apparently active across the Celtic world. Reportedly, they were so greatly respected that they could walk between two opposing Celtic armies and forbid them from fighting, and both sides would respect the command. Of course, like everyone about the Celts, this is an apocryphal tale, and anyone who has read Celtic mythology will know they had a great love of bombast and exaggeration.

Apparently the Druids shunned writing altogether, despite its fairly widespread use by the Celts themselves. They instead relied on their memories, which were hugely developed via various mnemonic techniques a Druid would learn during their 13 year apprenticeship.
