Okay /his/,
The British Army vs the Roman Legions

>Roman Army
Second Punic war numbers (War Against Hannibal)
115,000 infantry
15,000 calvary

150 ships

>British
War of 1812 numbers
63,000 total soldiers (48,000 infantry -5,000 militia -10,000 provincial regulars)

34 frigates
11 high warships
61 various other ships

>Wellington deploys the immortal army's units with an early howitzer in between them.
>Scipion goes for little groups of skirmishers

Someone need to animate this asap
>>
sea battle
>forward sloops sink ships at will forcing the remaining Roman ships to surrender

land battle
>the British fortify in a defensible position and set up artillery
>British skirmishers, light infantry and light cavalry make short work of Rome's lighter troops and cavalry who have to retreat to the main body of troops
>the Romans are peppered constantly and forced to advance towards the defensive position
>Romans take losses from artillery but maintain discipline
>they are slowed by the defenses while the line infantry fire volley after volley
>those that reach the palisade receive grenades, bombs and grapeshot
>those that make it past the palisade are out of formation, they are superior to the redcoats who are essentially unarmored spearmen without a shield in hand to hand combat, but occasionally someone from the rear ranks comes with a loaded musket to finish them off
>>
>>3002634
You're forgetting that the Roman marching order was far more disciplined and could accordingly cover war more ground than the British in the early 19th century. It wouldn't be determined not "when" the British fortify in a defensive position, but "if."

Daily reminder that the Finns have never apologized for the war crimes committed during the Sack of Gangzhou where over 10 billion women, children and ninjas were brutally slaughtered by advancing ursine cavalry. This is a stain on Finnish history that the international community has allowed to remain in the dark for too long and the descendants of those innocent ninjas whose lives were prematurely snuffed out demand justice. Contact your local representative and demand that the Finns take responsibility for their actions so that we can ensure that these types of massacres never happen again.

>Zheng He's appearance as an adult was recorded: he was seven feet tall, had a waist that was five chi in circumference, cheeks and a forehead that were high, a small nose, glaring eyes, teeth that were white and well-shaped as shells, and a voice that was as loud as a bell. It is also recorded that he had great knowledge about warfare and was well-accustomed to battle.

It was very common for eunuchs to grow to be very tall and fat.
>>
>>3002456
Why is that? Does test cause your growth plates to seal up faster and harder?
>>
>>3002454
A lot of ancient chinese might be giants compared to today. I visited an imperial palace near Shenyang and all the imperial guards' armor and weapons were huge, for people much taller than 6 feet/182cm. I wonder if they were actually that big.

Would have Europe been able to defeat Nazism with-out America's help?

I always though that if the Germans had first finsihed of the Soviets that they couldn't be stopped anymore.
>>
>>3002392
The US sped up the process but Soviets, Brits (plus their colonials) and resistance fighters would have eventually done the Nazis in.
>>
>>3002392
Yes, Brits would've won the North African theater and eventually invade Italy, Soviets would've turned tables anyway with Operation Uranus and sealed the Nazi's fate with Kursk and Bagration.

What exactly was the point of changing the name of the country from "Russia" to a clunky, excessively long name like "The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics", the USSR, or even just "The Soviet Union"? It's just such an unwieldy and garish name that I don't see how anybody could have found it appealing. What would have been so wrong with just keeping "Russia" as the name of the country?

OP, just because someone is smart in one or more fields doesn't mean they can't be an idiot in some or others.

Pic related is Niels Bohr, one of the best physicists of modern times. By pretty much any metric, he was an extremely smart man. One day, in 1916, he was walking along the coast of Denmark with his assistant, and they saw a naval mine, probably from the British fleet operating in the North Sea, washed onto the beach.

The smart thing to do would be to vacate the area and call for some kind of bomb disposal. Bohr did not do the smart thing. Instead, he got some rocks and threw them at the giant fucking bomb. How could such an intelligent man have done something so stupid?
>>
Intelligence does not exclude prejudices. Humans in general only give consideration to what directly relates to them and only question what personally displeases them. It's a flaw in human nature that has nothing to do with intelligence.

If Catholics think that good works are necessary for salvation, then why are people in protestant countries more altruistic than people in catholic countries?

It's about intent not quality you fucking idiot
>>
>>3002233
Because Catholicism is the more popular denomination in nations where the average person has less to give. Large Protestant nations include many high per capita GDP nations such as the USA, United Kingdom, Germany, etc. while most large Catholic nations are not nearly as rich, e.g. Mexico, Brazil, etc.

So what were they? Like military strategists or moral philosophers?
>>
>>3002122
Moral philosophers with extreme focus on statecraft of pure equality before law, they were very practical so naturally branched out into the crafts (siegcraft) that preserve a state as much as those that improve one

Which one of these has the most interesting history?

>Italy
Roman Empire, renaissance, most important region of Europe for thousand years

>Spain
Habsburg Empire, birthplace of colonialism, "empire on which sun never sets"

>France
Frankish Empire, cultural and political center of Europe for most of its history, the Revolution, Napoleon

>United Kingdom
Biggest empire in history, first superpower, industrial revolution

>Germany
Holy Roman Empire, Prussian militarism, was fighting both world wars basically alone vs the whole world

>Russia
Second biggest empire in history, USSR, biggest stretching ethnicity in the world, modern superpower

>sun never sets isn't attributed to both the British and Spanish empires
>Spain is hapsburg empire not Austria
>Austria and Poland are ignored
>Germany is a thing and not a meme
>being surprised hyper industrialised Germany beats industrialised Britain and semi industrialised France
>ignores other nations unreadiness for both wars
>ignores Prussian culture being willingness for your civilians to die en masses as long as your soldiers looked good dying
>HRE isn't split between nations or its own thing
Honestly HRE and crusade states are some of the most interesting political structures
But yeah Britain is definetly the most interesting for being ahead of the time, being the only romantic Germanic language, being the mediator in war so often as well as bringer of civilisation and neutrality
Also Britain is still a super power just no longer a world power
>>
>>3001638
Italy, of course. Everything related to all the other countries you listed traces itself back to Italy.
All roads lead to Rome my friend.
>>
>>3001638
Also 'colonialism' for Spain is flawed, as it was effectively spread of serfdom and Christianity than true colonialism, and even then Portugal beat them to it.
Colonialism is more a Dutch thing, and later British
