I'm looking to buy a cheap Thinkpad, about $220, why can't I find any decent ones anymore? Any with like i5, or i7, and 500gb or more HDD, and 8gb or ram.
Newegg used to be flooded with them and now I can't find any decent ones.
>>61840848
It's not thinkpad season yet, friend.
>>61840848
Buy one on eBay without a hdd it’s like $100 and then buy a hdd for it, I got a t430 with i5 8gb with wifi Bluetooth and the dock for $120, slapped a ssd in it and it’s amazing
Dont get anything newer then T430. They suck!

The alienware one is really the only one that works well, though alienwares usually have decent GPU anyway, so they are meant for upgrading power later on
Why is display port listed? Surely that comes from whatever GPU you put in the thing not the box itself
Should I learn evil mode? Will it benefit me in any way? Never used Vim unironically, using Emacs for about half a year now.
>>61840624
no, what you should do is build a structural editor DSL for your preferred language(s) and then edit those structures instead of text unless you're working with string primitives
>>61840643
Yeah I'm working on that.

Where do the cows come from?
Why is it so difficult to use Apple devices? I've never had one "just werk" they've all been shit in horrible ways.
>iPhone
Have to jailbreak to install what apps I want, which involves risk of bricking and voiding warranty
>MacBook
Stupid glossy screen is horrible for outdoor use, track pad is grippy against my finger, keyboard is so shallow I may as well use a touch screen with haptic feedback which would be better.
>Mac
Very high res screen with underpowered parts and horrible for the money.
And don't get me started on quality control issues.
Because they're specifically designed to be fashion accessories for gays and teenage girls.

>iPhone
>Just werkz
Yeah if you want to make calls. A lot of "smart" features require jailbreak, and even then a jailbroken iPhone is almost as functional as an Android device yet needlessly more complicated to use.
Is the future of hardware computing non-volatile RAM?
I mean by way of cutting out the middleman that is HDD/SSD storage, and just having a NV RAMDisk. How far away is this potential eventuality? When ECC DDR7 becomes a thing? Or even a new standard?
>could it even be that cutting out RAM and NVMe is the future?
>does any of this even make sense
Calm down autismo. M.2 SSDs are plenty fast and we'll be able to raid them in the future for even moar speed.
>>61840368
>plenty fast
a '98 v8 grand prix is plenty fast, but a Ramjet can hit Mach 5
>>61840368
also thanks for not answering any of the questions posed, luddite
I cheaped out on GPU and bought the 1050 ti, i'm gonna return it and get the 1060, will the 1060 be plug in and play since the drivers i have for the 1050 ti are from the same series? or do i have to go through that shitty process of deleting drivers, putting in the new card etc?
it should just werk

Just moved to a school that doesnt have ethernet ports... Can I just use a coax converter from the cable to get ethernet?
its called a cable modem and no
>>61840213
any ideas how to get ethernet in my room? I dont want to share my precious bandwidth with fucking degenerates loading buzzfeed quizzes
Power line networking adapters there cheap and easy to set up. There a good option if running cable isn't a option like in a rented or shared apartment.

The "kill yourself" phone.
Snapchat? Go away.
Anything that doesn't have an apple logo on it.
Should I study a system technician degree then move to CS?
Not necessary. Just grab the loaded gun in your drawer, put it in your mouth, and pull the trigger.
