I'm early 40 so I can still put on muscle but I feel I should focus on cardiovascular health since I have a few in my family that are hit with at least high blood pressure.
My health is good. My BP is normal. My blood work always comes back fine. I'm a little heavy and have a bit of a dadgut. With hard work, it won't take long to take it off, i'm certain.
I have exercised my whole life (off and on) since high school. Did the whole bootcamp workout thing, did P90x some years ago, spent 10 years doing really hard manual labor, so i'm still pretty strong, and was put in charge of a desk at work a few years back so I feel like i'm slipping. Gut growing, test lowering, passiveness increasing.
Having looked around the internet, I found the 5x5 workout but I don't think it's right for me at this age. And...I do believe this might be a philosophical argument against it more than a fact-based one. It just doesn't seem right.
