By making sure everything fits properly, having well made (not LARP tier) clothing, making sure it's all matching.

This is casual military clothing not parade, so the boots would look better beat up. Perhaps the shorts/boots combo is a little too far, build up to wearing that, but you can certainly wear higher boots, black tailored wool trousers and an excellent thick shirt/jacket like that. Would look incredibly alpha on a tall guy. I really love this man, I would be in awe of a guy pulling this off (sans gauntlet and armour).


Basically, the key is making it suit you and look like it was selected by someone with good taste and high confidence. You can literally dress as a wizard or a cyborg if you make sure it's an aesthetically pleasing, well constructed, tailored and high quality outfit, and not seem autistic - obviously you'd be on the outside of cliques who dress in Adidas sportswear but fuck that, anyone who wears Rick or anything 'unusual' falls outside those cliques anyway. I love this outfit bro.
Look at costuming for films. They don't look like LARPers, they look like interesting and genuine outfits, because they haven't just ordered the clothes from some autism shop, an aesthetician costume designer has hand selected and weathered each outfit to perfectly fit the actor, the actor is fully confident whilst wearing it, and it suits the character's interests and mannerisms, hence they pull it off.

Go for it, and remember - spend money on it. Get it tailored by a tailor and failing that, your mom. Don't just buy the first related shit off a re-enactment website, spend time going to their historic markets, consider having pieces commissioned, buy second hand and broken in clothing, buy things not designed for that that you can repurpose.

Also, your fitness, confidence, body posture, mannerisms, cologne, haircut, health and bulletproof DGAF attitude need to be in order if you're going to pull this off, qualities this board lacks. Do it.
