anyone here able to read engineering drawings? i need help sketching the top view for this part. i've gotten almost everything but there's a part where the diameter is 68 and it says there's 4x of them. it's right inbetween the threaded lower section and the middle plate thing that the nut is on.
>>1091628
It's radially patterned. This is a cutaway drawing. The four holes will be 90 degrees apart, at the same radius from the center.

i'm working on a barrett m82 replica., what do you think?
For moderators, this is not a weapon, only a static model.
That's really good dude. Is that a machine butt plate I seem
Guys, why is it important that the rope does not cut into your neck when hanging yourself?
Heres what I mean..
safety first
Probably to make it painless as possible. Of course if you cared about pain you'd just buy a gun and kill yourself with that. Of course if you didn't care about pain you would have made the series of tough life choices that would put you on the path away from suicide.
I bought some LED strips from aliexpress. How the fuck do i wire these up? Im so lost

Post a link faggot. We can't help you with no details.

How do i do this? I failed electronics 7 years ago and never looked back
Don't know if I can get help here or not, but my ceiling fan lights blew out all at once when I flipped on the wall switch. New bulbs don't work, but the ceiling fan still does. I'm trying to bypass the wattage limiter to see if that fixes it, but I don't know how to reconnect the wires. It's got three wires - a blue one that connects to the pull chain switch, a red on that connects to the 9-pin connector, and a white one that's crimped to three wires from the bulbs. If I disconnect those, what do I reconnect them to?
>>1096796
Holy shit, you probably shouldn't be doing this.
Well whatever.
Find out what your incoming neutral wire connects to, and find out what your 120 connects to. Trace one or the other back to the crimped wires for the lights.
Or, if you have 2 sets of 3 crimped wires, it doesn't really matter how you connect them. The either of them can be 120 or neutral.
>>1096811
Actually, disregard this. Blue to red, remove and tape the white.
>>1096817
Thanks. So is the white just a neutral to the limiter?
Sup /diy/, /fit/ here.
Looking to build pic related in my back yard. Ive checked google and seen a bunch of different ground attachments for securing the posts but Im not sure which is the strongest or if I should even use them.
What Im trying to figure out is, because i'll be swinging around on this, what is the best method to secure this into the ground and have it completely solid without any movement?
Cement like pic related?
>>1096749
1. Dig hole
2. Pour cement
3. Stick bars in
4. Let it dry
5. ???
6. Profit
>>1096749
You know the round posts they use for small electrical poles?
I'd go to a lumber supplier that sells to the public to buy that. The key is burying it about 4-5 feet down for maximum stability, but less would work as long as you're using cement. Make sure you dig a decent radius, don't get lazy or cheap out. Keep your actual bar lengths as close together as you can without making it difficult to use, so as to avoid the bars bending over time.
If you don't want the bars to spin, drill your 1-1/2 or 2 inch holes for your bars, then cross drill those holes for some big bolts running perpendicular through the bars. Don't cheap out on those.
My gut says galvanized/black iron pipe would work, but visit home depot/Lowe's to see how strong it is.
If it meets your requirements, you can leave the threaded ends capped at the ends of the post to secure it and give it a finished look. I would make sure to go all the way through the posts.
>>1096755
Also, you don't need 4-5 feet on all of them, just the taller support posts.
This isn't so much of a DIY question as it is a standard home maintenance question. What would be good service to use of testing one's basement for molds, mildew, radon & carbon monoxide. Recent family health concerns have lead me to want to check if the home is the issue. Would any basement restoration service do?
>>1096283
You can get home mold kits at the hardware store. If the one closest to you doesn't have them, ask who does. You can also get a radon detection kit at the hardware store and a CO detector.
>>1096285
Thank you, I might get a full service to do a thorough inspection though, but this is great food for thought.

Hijacking this thread for /diy/ question, my apartment bathroom shower area has a fuck ton of mold, as I have not made any efforts to clean it in 2years~ .
It's getting anyone because now the floor of the tub is getting slick from the mold. What is the best way to kill it easily?
Are there any sewing kits I can get my hands on that aren't made out of the shittiest, cheapest materials known to man? Should I just put one together piece by piece to my own specifications?
>kit
>needles, thread, scissors...
>literally available anywhere, even walmart carries sewing stuff
May as well jump into this thread - if I want to sew 1000D nylon to make pouches, do I need some kind of heavy duty sewing machine or is it just about the type of needle?

i would get one for the case (if it has a good one) the replace the cheap shit with proper tools
I need advises.
I want to print my own magazine but I have no idea of how to make it work.
I have no idea of how to book-bind and stuff.
Do you have any advises ? or links to tutorials maybe ?
>>1096200
No, we don't do spoonfeeds, fuck off and do your own google.
>>1096202
Of course i googled it before coming here you moron.
When I looked up all the articles were about self-publishing and not self-printing.
Since it's so "Spoonfeeds" you could have told me already but you have chosen to be an asshole it seems.
Now YOU FUCK OFF
>>1096203
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.
I'm not sure if this is possible.
I have a porcelain doll with some small hands and a few of the fingers are chipped off. I don't know where they are now.
Is it possible with some sort of material, to mold new fingers and then paint over and repair the doll's hands so they are whole again? The hands structure are much like this one here (fingers merged together), with two of the fingers halfway chipped off
Any advice?
>>1096111
Is it possible? Yes. Will you ever get anywhere close to making it look decent? No. The coating is baked on when they fire the porcelain. Anything you "paint" on later where never match and will look worse.
>>1096131
can I get replacement porcelain hands and attach them somehow?
>>1096111
Bondo is the material you want.
Results will vary depending on your skill, including paint. Unless you are a sculptor, it will probably look worse then being merely broken.
Hobby stores often have doll sections that may have parts. Or you may be able to find a similar doll on ebay and cannibalize it for parts.
I've never been on /diy/ before but what do you guys think of Diresta?

Hey buds,
I have an old Webber grill. These bars have rusted out for like the 3rd of 4th time in its history. They are collapsing in to the bottom so it's time to replace them. This time, instead of shelling out some major buccaroonis for new bars, I'm thinking about a /diy/ solution. I don't have a lot of tools to work with, and I'm not sure what gauge/ metals I should use. I am thinking if I can find the right size piece of sheet metal steel at a right angle, I could just take it to a garage and have them lop off the bars in the correct dimensions. Most of them seem to be made out of stainless steel. Another idea is to buy fence posts like this guy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPHc-PzTejU), however I am not sure if the paint on the metal makes using them unsafe.
Any other ideas? Replacements seem to run $50+, if not more, which is absurd.
Could I get by with aluminum?
I would only need (2) of these if that was the case:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-2-in-x-96-in-x-1-16-in-Thick-Aluminum-Angle-800047/204604756?MERCH=REC-_-PIPHorizontal1_rr-_-204604755-_-204604756-_-N
>>1096041
Nvm, I guess that is probably not wide enough. I think that mine are closer to 2''.
From that pic they look like around/between 1x1x1/16 and 1-1/2x1-1/2x1/8 formed angles.
Surface looks like plain hot rolled steel.
also:
>rusted out for like the 3rd of 4th time in its history
You can get angle iron at large hardware stores. The difference is that the "bend" wont be rounded like that but a 90 degree sharp point.
You can get them in stainless too but it's a lot more expensive, harder to cut, and may not be locally available (shipping cost).
Stainless also transfers heat slower.
Plain hot rolled steel can be cut with a hacksaw fairly easily if you secure it well.
Measure the "legs" length and thickness. How many and how long, then see what lengths are available locally to see how much it would cost you.
So I'm back with something. Thoughts?
Also trying to think of a product to engrave for resell
>>1095998
why are you in a car with gloves on to show off your engraved powerbank?
>>1096001
Its cold out and it doesnt hurt to keep them on during work breaks. Any other questions?
You want /diy/ to think of garbage to engrave for you to resell?
Hello /DIY/
I was wondering the best way to make armor for cosplay like my pic.
I was thinking about having a papercraft base with paper-mache to give it the hardness and thickness.
Any other idea, suggestions?
All the best armour I've seen has been foam floor tiles sculpted into shape with a heat gun and some precision cuts.
Fine details can be carved in or glued on with thinner foams and plastics.
Tonnes of resources for this sort of thing online, I'd look up Punished Props on youtube as a starting point
/cgl/ might be a better place to ask if they aren't busy talking about crusty vaginal discharge building up in their costumes.
>>1095955
I didn't go to /cgl/ because of that, plus I need more of the materials and building aspect.
Google wasnt that help ful, but I willvheck out the channel. Thanks
>>1095988
Here's how you go about it, it will definitely need a base of some type that will be the bulk of material, foam is excellent for this because it is easy to carve with a $20 harbor freight hot knife but you can go with wood or something else just cut the rough shapes as close as possible to the final shape, then grab some bondo and gloves and give it a healthy coating of bondo bigger than the final shape. You don't need to make it perfect because the next step is sanding, use 36 then 80 then 120 then 200 grit sand paper to form it into the exact shape
Bondo is hard and pretty resilient so it should make it pretty resilient in the long run as well and give you a great surface to paint.
After painting just fasten it together with paracord
For the thin plating i suggest some thin acrylic (Lowe's carries it in the custom cut windows area under the name optylex), shape it with a hot gun (it will get soft when hot and you can bend it to its final shape, hold it that way until it hardens)
After forming it, again use bondo the prep the surface for painting.
You can use an acrylic window with some stick on window tinter for the visor and mouth area
Use a couple pieces of pvc pipe as the base for the gun and then use foam and bondo again
Add some shit colored pants and your costume will be complete
I also suggest using a shirt that is well fitting with thick cloth as the base so you can take it all off easily
I warn you though, that costume won't be complete before Thursday unless you don't have a job
