What would be the easiest way to exhaust 2000w of computer heat out the Window?

My ideas so far:
-Buy a modular storage shelf and create an outer shell out of cardboard. Fit cardboard with exhaust tube. Cardboard is super easy to work with.

-Chop up a plastic bin like pic related

-build a wooden enclosure using bookshelf parts. Need to find wood that's easy to work with because I only have a hand saw and a dremel.

do you care about your homes AC efficiency? if not, fans suck inside air in, cool, blow air out vent in wall. like a dryer does.

if you care about efficiency, pump liquid over components, transfer tubes to radiator outside. you could take it as far as needed, and cool to whatever temp you want with some ingenuity.

I have a Kenmore 580.75281700 air conditioner installed through a wall. The fan runs but I'm not getting any cooling.

On-line repair suggestions include cleaning the filter and evaporator coils, both have been done.

The next two suggestions are to replace the thermistor assembly or the capacitor (in that order). I can probably do the termistor assembly but the capacitor may be an issue since the unit is through the wall 10' above the floor.

Before I go further, I have also read that there are error codes the unit may throw off. Does anyone know whether these show automatically or do I have to do something to get them to show?

Any help is appreciated.

the fans run can you hear the compressor kick in?
air con is actually pretty fucking simple in principle, its either 1) the compressor is fucked 2) there is no pressure because 2a) the coolant has escaped or 2b) there is pressure but there is a sensor that detects the pressure and that is fucked

i don't know shit about window units but in a car a/c 99/10 times the gas has escaped somehow or other. but take that with a pinch of salt because a window unit liek this isn't under anything like the same conditions of course. but thats me i'm biased to say the gas has escaped because its the simplest thing i think.
>>
>>1195349
if the suggestion is to replace the thermistor assembly i assume that is just what turns the compressor on to allow cooling to happen.
are you competent enough to bypass the thermistor assembly (short it out or open circuit i don't know don't ask me!) to trick it into turning on? that would tell you if that was the part.

i would test the capacitor with a multimeter if you had one? but careful it might be charged up even if its unplugged!!

I really think i can do it. I can just about fix anything. From cars to problems at home. Like pipes and installations.
The steel they sell at AliExpress is stainless steel as they say. I have already purchased the cement and i used it on myself. I felt a little dizzy but it worked well.
My teeth are not that bad. Just 2 or 3 are pushing out and i plan on using a single wire to straighten it with only 2 metal dems.
I am nota pro but if this is successful i will put the orthos out of business or at least make them lower their price

I have contacted various suppliers and been met with nothing but rejection. Any pro or backyard machinists looking for extra cash?
Need custom sinker molds made.
I can order a blank mold and have it mailed to your house. You can machine my custom designs in it and then mail to me. We will discuss pricing privately and Hopefully this will not be a 1 time thing.
It will be a few weeks before i will be able to do this, but it will give us time for me to work out a deal with one or more of you anons.
I may even consider paying you a finders fee if you put me in contact with a new machinist.
I'm being rejected because I wish to make adult novelty sinkers for a few customers and nobody will take me seriously.
In keeping with the no pr0n policy here that is as far as i will discuss it. I will post a few pics trying to better describe what i am after.
There will never be any cost to you. I will even supply shipping labels to me from you that you can print or have printed. Or i can print and mail u a return label.
You only cost will be time in possible doing a sketch or test run and showing proof pics before mailing the final mold.
I am pretty easy going and won't throw a fit if it isnt perfect. I have a fealing this will be a learning experience for us both.
If not, well, you made a few bucks running a machine.
Please drop a burner email and i will contact you with mine to further discussions.
Pic related is a mold blank. I would prefer to mail u one with a handle and have it machined. The handles are easily unscrewed if they are in the way.
If need be you can even drill out the hinges and i will have a local machinist help me instal new pins.
You could possibly even machine a mold cavity into your own aluminum bar stock to save us time and money if u wish. I could weld a hinge on later.
Like i said, we will just have to work and learn together.
Im not rich by any means but i should be able to start dumping $50 a week

Idealy i would like the hoop for fishing line like the OP pic. Or maybe run a chanel down the middle for a 10 guage coper wire like some siners that go all the way through.

Don't know.

Some of these may not even be sinkers. I have made a few hood ornaments by green sand molding. I placed a bold in the cavity where i puled a plastic part out and casted lead in the cavity around the bolt head. Giving it threads.

The test oeice works but forming by hand is just a mess.

If i could lay bolts in a sinker mold and cast them it woukd be great.

I can crudely sketch out what i need if there are questions.

Pic related is an edited hood ornament with a bolt in it.

I will mail you a few for measurements if needed.

What kind of crystal oscillator circuit would you recommend for a 4MHz crystal? How about a 32.768kHz? I'm looking for a square-wave output, but I could always use a comparator on a dirty sine wave instead; I'll probably have to use a buffer on it either way. The duty cycle doesn't matter as long as it's between 85% and 15%. The only tutorials I could find don't specify the output waveform.

Today we're going to learn some basic schematic reading. I'll be editing this pic as I go. We're trying to figure out why my motor isn't turning on my SP20 mixer. I'll need some hand tools and a basic meter.

I opened the panel and found my terminal block. I verified incoming power by seeing where the cord goes once its inside the machine.

Of course, I'm wearing my PPE.

I can now be sure power is getting to the internal breaker. Let's be sure it isn't tripped by resetting it. Afterwards, we'll test to make sure power is there on the other side of it while keeping our other lead on Neutral.

Electricity in your house or workplace is quite simple. It sits in your wall waiting until you give it a place to go. It wants to go from the 'hot' side to the Neutral side ASAP. The breakers in your house only allow so much of it though.

If the breakers sense that what you've plugged in is using too much power and is becoming a safety hazard, it stops it by tripping.

We can use our meter to trick the electricity into thinking it's getting to neutral, but in reality we're just measuring it's potential.

Let's continue.

Without even testing, we can assume that, if the wiring is in working condition, all of the following in pic related are true. Our nuetral potential is available at all these locations. Remember, nuetral doesn't hold voltage when there is no load. In other words, nuetral is the path that voltage will take, ideally. Sometimes you fuck that up by putting your fingers on a live wire. That's not good. Then you become the nuetral. Nuetral sounds pretty similar to ground, doesn't it?

Hello

I'm in the process of preparing for making a viking themed commercial. For this commercial we need around 20-30 armed vikings. The thing is, viking gear is fucking hard to get a hold on, or is expensive as shit.

The fighting scenes will be fast paced and a lot of close-ups and cuts. So the quality of armor and weapons doesn't have to be extreme.

Anyone here knows how to easily make viking weapons and armor?

I've been browsing YouTube and most of the stuff on there is a bit too high priced and time consuming (I'll have to make around 20 shields and some weapons as well).

TL:DR
How to make viking weapons and armor for cheap and quick.

Thanks!

pick up some pallets or find some old 3/8" or 1/2" lumber and glue them to a support plank, then cut the circles out with a jigsaw or something.

if youre gonna paint them then you could just cut the circles out of some plywood.

for the outside banding you might get away with layering aluminum tape up to thickness.

the center boss could be a nailed/glued stainless steel bowl, you can pick em up from just about any cooking supply shop.

then slap some leather bands to the back and youre gucci

Basics:
Option 1: Hire in re-enactors from Regia Anglorum, or a similar association, pay them what it will cost you to make weapons. Bonus, they know how to use their weapons, unlike generic actors. Far safer.

Option 2: make 'em.

1: get 1-2 "hero" items for close-ups. Yes, they will cost you. Expect to pay several hundred at least. no way around that. Make cheap shit, it will look like cheap shit.

2: weapons: be historically accurate - Dane-Axes, Scramaseax. Why? Because a 5-foot pole and some silver-painted foam will cost you 1/100th the materials to make a fake sword look good.

3: shields: google "shield boss" and "umbo" - buy 20, buy some plywood, use a holesaw and jigsaw, saw out roundshields from 8mm plywood, and paint in red/white, spirals, etc.

4: clothing: you want basic tunics, and leg wrappings (Winningas) to go over legs. belts, maybe a "hero" helmet or two. avoid brown leather. look for linens in greens, russet reds, etc.

5: hide modern shoes by camera angles and brush.

I honestly do not think you can make a shitty set of vikings, yet alone a good looking set of vikings, for less than £100 GBP per viking. that's £20 each on basic cotton or preferably linen for a tunic, and some strips that will become winningas wrappings, £5 on some leather belts for their waist as costume, plus manufacture costs. £10 for the umbo, £10 for plywood and £5 of paint for shields, which hide the shortcuts in costuming, £15 on a backhoe haft and some GRP or foam to make daneaxes, and £10 each for seaxes made from dowel with foam. Add £25 for little filler bits. and then hero equipment for close-up on top of that.

So, you need at minimum a budget of 2-3000 for this just for equipment. And when you're done, what will you do with it?
You would be far better off paying £100 to some re-enactors for a day's filming.

Why not? As long as it has enough digital outputs it should work. Although a raspberry is quite overkill for such a simple task unless you want to use it as an IOT device.

>Although a raspberry is quite overkill for such a simple task

What's a cheaper alternative?

You remind me of this old engineer at IBM who came by and threw a fit because we were doing a simple lab test using extremely simple ICs but it offended him because it could be done with discrete transistors.

The fact that it was faster and easier seemed to be lost on him.

Anyway, what's wrong with using a 10 dollar supercomputer to do a simple task? (or whatever a pi zero sells for these days).

Ok, so bought a #6 crucible on Amazon, and, well, I got one that was marked a #6, but who's dimensions are #10. I'm not complaining, that's 40% more crucible for free and my foundry is big enough to accommodate up to a #14.

My issue is, I don't have any tongs for something this big. Do any of you have plans for a pair of tongs that will fit a #10 or larger, and still be manipulated by one person?

Hi /diy/. I'm planing to produce some kits to make it easier for people to get into analog video synthesizers, but I can't decide between Composite or VGA input/output. What do you think the best option is? VGA is much easier but a dying format.

A video synthesizer is similar to an audio synthesizer, but you're generating or distorting a video signal. It can be a lot of fun and a good way to get into analog electronics.

The kits wouldn't come with a tv/monitor or a video source, so it's important I pick the format more people have equipment for and want to work with.

Few things naturally use composite anymore. Go with VGA since it goes to basically any modern computer screen and even some HDTVs, and basically every video card still has a VGA output on it.
>>
>>1196898
The raspberry Pi and a lot of modern cameras have composite output though. I don't think I've ever seen a camera that outputs VGA directly.

Also I've looked at other video synth gear like what LZX or Dave Smith make, and they're sticking to composite.

How the fuck do you fit an entire video channel on a single composite lead? How is it encoded? I swear if this leads back to Fourier transforms I'll flip a tit.
