Is there any way to bypass the amplification settings on a Peavey Vypyr VIP 3? I'm getting a new pre-amp but no money for a cab.
3 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Do you want to use the existing power stage of the peavey or no?
>>
>>1196720

I ask because it is considerably easier to bypass all the electronics on the amp and wire the speaker in the same way you would when building a cab.

I dont fuck with any MIDI shit but my best advice would be to just make as much goddamn music as you possibly can without releasing it, then pick your best ones and release it somewhere.
I say this just because I've looked back on a lot of things I've made, and some are a clear cut above the rest.
Nothing pisses me off more than when I look at something a year later and regret ever putting it out there.
Be like old age sculptors, who destroyed all of their practice works, only to hit the scene once you know you're producing greatness.
Bet a lot of people will call me an idiot for this outlook but I don't care
>>
no, we have a board for music, the general there is called /prod/ if there isnt one make one. we have a soundcloud shill thread on mu too, its called "soundcloud thread"

I want to get into video editing and making videos for fun and profit, but really just for fun, and I want to get good at it. I want to be able to make videos like this for example: https://youtu.be/c--etqIJcow

Question is, do I need to be musically inclined to edit clips higher/lower to match songs? I have no music ability. I didn't want to associate myself with band in high school, and I despised the teenager mentality to "start a band" and much rather stay in my room and play video games.

So do I need to learn how to do music to even attempt this shit?

The guy that started the Gabe videos made a tutorial on how to. I don't think you need to be musically abled but need an ear for what sounds right

Anyone can recommend what products I should buy if I want to get small lipo batteries on the cheap? I have charging and protection boards, just need 60-400mAh cells.
I can't just order bare batteries from China, as the shipping fee is too high (some lipo transportation regulation i guess).
I thought about disposable e-cigs or crappy rechargeable lamps.
Anyone have a better idea?

I doubt any country has laws on lipo.
Sellers that say "NO BATTERY SECURITY REASONS" are just trying to scam you, they can send it but they want to chip out 2 cents.
In my experience, 1s are the most expensive, 2s are cheaper for the same Ah, meaning you get more Wh out of it.
If you want large 1s batteries and weight isn't an issue, phone batteries are cheaper from ebay than lipos from china.

My audio-receiver is acting up, maybe someone could point out the likeliest defects/solutions?
>Old yamaha receiver (396)
>4 speaker-stereo set up (2 left, 2 right)

The sound on the right channel is often completely mute. When I raise the volume, suddenly it pops in and works well, unless I lower the volume again. After some time, the right channel becomes silent again. When this happens, the right channel gets kinda croaky/static for a few moments before its gone.

This happens to both speakers that are connected to that stereo channel simultaneously. Cables are okay. Source doesn't matter (TV, CD, Radio...).

Did anyone experience something similar and has a possible solution or a vague idea what might be broken?

You have dirty pots, they need cleaned.
>>
>>1195164
In an old amp, the bad caps are going to be power filter caps.
And bad power filter caps going out cause loud hums, not a dropout of audio.

He has a dirty switch or pot, extremely common in old amps

You have 1 pipe and 6 different pvc pipes. pipe 0 has something flowing out of it. on the push of a button, pipe 0 must connect to the pipe that corresponds with the button. it must only flow to said pipe and not flow to the other pipes. how would you go about this? you dont have to explain the button panel hook up, but more the mechanism to switch to a different pipe. Thanks for the help

hey guys there is a contest im in and it has given the manuel instructions for the assembly and coutouts for a king tiger sla 16, there are a few parts which need half milimeter thick paper and some with 1mm thick paper, now here are my ideas

for parts with alot of area to them, im thinking of taking for arts and crafts glue and then glueing the paper cutout to the half millimeter thick cardboard/paper, and i may be wrong here but would putting on the wet area heavy flat object like a stack of books and wait for it to dry, keep the glued parts from going all wavy ?

for actually cutting the parts out im planning on using my brother's autopsy kit that is collecting dust ever since he finished his first year of anatomy, the scalpel seems a bit dull but ill have to test it out,

for the barrel i have some coat hangers i took apart and was thinking of "glue rolling them into shape, and after they dry ill file them down, same for the muzzle break, any other tips for the other smaller parts? they said it needs to be all paper/cardboard no plastic.

here is the link to the PDF with the instructions

I'm making a table out of wood and angle iron. My plan is to make the surface out of wood, and router out the edges so that a flat side of the angle iron sits on top and flush with the wood, giving it a frame.

I'm not quite sure how to attach the wood surface beneath the frame though

I don't want to use hardware, as I'd like it to be seamless.

Right now I have some flat bar I can weld to the inside of the frame to support the wood, but i'm interested in other ideas

Is there a glue that will bond metal to wood securely?

>>
>>1194390
you could make it removable with some keyholes drilled in the steel and some screws partially screwed in
>>
>>1194399
so you slide the board to secure it
>>
Turn the iron over, so the lip is on the bottom. Then the top can rest there.

If you really want the iron to cover the edge of your table top, use U channel and make one short side removable.

I want to re-do my motorcycle seat, foam is easy to get and sculpt, but the fabric/leather, how should I get this? Find a used couch on the road and gut a chunk out of it?
It's a couple hundred to get it done in a shop or buy a new one so I may as well do it myself. (it's also more fun)

pvc leather is pretty cheap from sewing / craft stores. If you can't spend anything, there's always free leather couches like you said.

I had this cardboard clock set once when I was 10, I remember giving up on it because you had to glue 7-8 layers of cardboard to make the gears, and the gears would warp badly because of the glue. I found the kit again cheap and ready to give it another go.
So my question is how can I make sure the cardboard wont warp? just thin layers of glue?
5 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>1194224
Cover the cardboard in a few layers of acrylic gesso, found at any craft store. Let it dry between coats, and once you add a few coats the cardboard should be fairly moisture resistant.
>>
>>1194224
use a non-shrinking, waterless glue. something like pritt stick, or maybe double sided tape.

Composite to coax requires a modulator
Composite to HDMI requires a converter
No you wont get a passive version of either
>>
>>1194012
You can run composite via 75ohm coax provided it goes into composite at the other end.

on my TV one of the component inputs doubles as a composite input, so i can watch old VCRs and such.

another option is to use an old composite-to-USB digitizer, like a Dazzle.

another option is a portable DVD player with A/V inputs.
