Always sucks when a writer I enjoy has trash like this in their closet.
Gonna storytime Rise of Arsenal afterwards if time permits.
>>94043904
That's a lot of storytimes. What's the occasion?
>>94044053
Godspeed anon. And if not today we still got most the weekend.
>>94044072
PAIN
>>94044072
Good comics to be read.
>>94044072
Few years back during SanDiego ComicCon weekend someone decided to nonstop storytime the worst of the worst in comics.
Now every year we spend the weekend doing tons of Storytime of Pain.
If this is your first time, I'd recommend Marville Trouble and Nemesis aka "the trinity of sin".
>>94044072
SDCC tradition. Story timing really bad comics. Usually it is spot on, but there are always a few decent titles that should not be part of SoP (Story time of Pain). This year people do not think a few titles should be there, more often than naught though, most of the comics are fucking horrible.
>>94044053
Was this retconned anywhere?
This really doesn't seem like Hal
>>94043883
What makes this SOP material
>>94044330
First time reading it, but the dialogue is just..bad so far
>>94044292
Not retconned but mostly ignored for being stupid, then retconned with everything else in Flashpoint.
>>94044324
Please tell me that "Welcome to Pain" is an edit, otherwise this needs to be an advertisement for next year.
Is this whole thing going to be Injustice levels of "we murder people for justice" stuff?
>Malicious file
>>94044426 (Rich Johnston's The Avengefuls)
>>94043883
How in the hell can this be the same James Robinson who wrote Earth 2?!? Was this his first book? The dialogue is horrible.
>>94043883
This guy will be writing Wonder Woman!

Okay, this is going to be a bad ride.
>>94044767
Hal you slut
>>94044804
He blames the editor, and this is far from his first. For his best work check out Starman.
>>94044804
Nope, he wrote the excellent Starman back in the 1990s. This was the start of his "oh shit, maybe he can fuck up" era.
>>94044167
>>94044127
there are gems like this, hidden under the shitpile
>>94044907
Simone later retconned that and changed it to Hal losing a drinking contest while trying to seduce them.
This art is pretty dope but the writing is overly simplistic
>>94044202
the reason why Hal jumped at the chance of a crosscountry roadtrip with Ollie was because he was homeless
>>94045077
Ya I know, dam Simone ruining the fun
Well at least the art is nice
>>94044324
>Welcome to Pain
Oh man, no... This can't get worse...
>>94044498
ow the edge
So what's the worst part of this book? Hal and Ollie's limpwristed bullshit? Prometheus being "that kid"? Ray Palmer welcoming supervillains to pain? The fact Bill and Mikhail are thoroughly wasted? Or the, um, surprise cameo near the end?
>>94045170
>that girl you loved and lost in the amazon
Any context about this please?
>>94045266
>I doubt it was much a plan at all
haha, you bet.

>the first pic
is this a real photo?
>>94046503
everything is wrong about this page
A lot of the infamously bad comics read like heart monitors. Peaks and valleys between boring, boring, HOLY SHIT THAT'S FUCKING RETARDED, boring boring, boring...
>>94046835
So, did they just sit in the Watchtower for weeks?
>>94047106
>>94047184
*snore*
THis is a really high stakes story for these characters that I know and love, yet I just can't stay interested
>>94044703
Congorilla, you are one of the only saveing graces of this comic.
So, you're the dude doing the Storytimes of Pain? I've recentrly a Batman comic that's begging to be part of the SoP catalog, Fortunate Son I think is called
It's basically about some punk singer beliving he's Elvis incarnate and doing jack shit around the country while Bats chases him and relieves the day he was raped by a Sid Vicious looking motherfucker
It's awesome
>>94047152 (Sonichu)
>>94047308
lame
>>94047264
It's not just me. I'll take a look, but I'm probably gonna do Rise of Arsenal first.
>>94047366
Do you think someone is going to do the Titans: Villains for Hire after? It works well paired after the Rise of Arsenal

this shit is worse than all of the Batman prep-time shitposting combined
We need Identity Crisis after this.
>>94047846
I'd rather reread about Roy ingesting drugs made out of children and a woman with a volcanic vagina than even that again.

>>94044053
I really don't understand what Hal wants the JLA to do differently.
In this series, all he ever did was go after villains after they'd done something illegal, just like every hero does. The whole idea of a "proactive" super-team is pretty dumb only applies to stuff like Carol using Ulysses' visions to go after people before they do anything.
>>94044095
Hal is acting like there's a bunch of villains out there that the JLA is ignoring. Truth is, villains are wanted fugitives and really good at hiding, so until they do something in public you don't have much to go on.
>>94047977
F
She had a hard little life, including being kidnapped by sex traffickers.
>>94047627
If he's so smart, why the fuck does he not have villains catalogued too? He's fought villains before.
>>94047732
This is the dumbest fucking plan ever, how does he know they wouldn't be able to find those cities? And then he just gives up on it and wants to be let go.
Fun fact: apparently, DC editorial wanted to use this story to destroy every fictional city in the DC Universe except for Gotham and Metropolis, but the writers and other editors revolted.
>>94046745
>donna and starfire
>near a pool
what i'd do to be in the same area
>>94048299
Well, it almost destroyed a fictional universe.
>>94046801
Wow, it was worth reading after all.
>>94048138
o yeah J'onn was dead at the time, so M'gann had to sub in for him on the "attempt to read bad guys mind and go AGHHHHHHH and grasp your head in pain when it fails" job.
>>94048173
Wait, if Prometheus didn't have the Shade on file, why did he design it to counter him?
And why don't the heroes just switch around?
>>94048446
>>94048405
So why did they let him go after he deactivated the bombs? Did they pinky swear or something?
>>94046201
>That bulge in Jay's pants
Jay I know you just go to see an upskirt shot of her green ass but your married and she's a teenager.
>>94043883
So you're doing Rise of Arsenal next, right?
>>94048583
Yup.
Make sure you guys check out the other high quality comics that have been storytimed already.
>>94048580
How come he gets killed so easily by an arrow to the head after all the bullshit we saw him pull against the entire JL?
>>94048617
because JUSTICE
>>94047908
IDentity crisis is good though
Has Cascioli done any more work for DC since this book?
This type of work feels like porn and I want more.
>>94048727

>"hey, if batman can beat everyone with nothing but gadgets and preptime..."
>"...why cant a villain do the same?"
>"brilliant!!"
And this is why batman needs to fuck off to his own universe.
>>94048824
Yeah, people complain about Deathstroke in IC a lot but nothing he does is that crazy or prep timey. Most of it is clever moves like cutting off Carters wing harness, but he never was gonna win. He's basically biding time.

>>94048655
woah, it already started
>>94049270
This takes place well before the New52 reboot, so you might as well just ignore when it takes place.
>>94049378
When did Batman die other than Final Crisis?
>>94050429
Just Final Crisis. This is a little after that I think, but before Blackest Night.

Ah shit, I remember reading this now. The blue guy and the monkey guy I remember. Ugh.
