Another year, another Storytime of Pain.. Another SDCC
That's right, San Diego Comic-Con is oficially open and so is the annual train of pain.
This coming 4 days there will be nothing but shittiness and pain, so bad.
Let's start with something bad but not so, something to prepare you motherfuckers for what's to come, an appetiser if you will
This is Margueritte Bennett's Joker's Daughter
I usually start with JLA: Act of God but decided to change things upa bit this year
I though comic Con didn't start till tomorrow.
Fucking surprise buttsex of a storytime.
>>94014603
Is JLA: Act of God really THAT bad?
I remember when I liked Joker's Daughter in Countdown. Maybe that should have been a clue to her terribleness.
>>94014745
Nope, it started this morning
>>94014872
Well, if you do't think alocholic depressive Superman and Born-Again Christian Wonder Woamn isn't bad...
>>94014562
Glad Bennett has improved since this
and that her Joker's Daughter is better in Bombshells
>>94014946
Awesome.
Will be joining in on the storytiming in a few hours, myself.
Looking forward to being a contributor of pain this year.
>>94015065
The increase in quality of Bennett's writing is really noticeable, I don't know what made her better up her writing but it's a good thing that it happened.. Maube Bombshells made her see what worked and what didn't
>>94014921
Her fight with Bat-Gordon was fun, and I started to sort of like her in Red Hood and Arsenal, but then she almost immediately went back to crap.
>>94014946
Also Batwankery, a lot and LOT of Batwankery.
The problem with Jokers Daughter is there is NO REASON to take her serious, BUT EVERYONE DOES.
She's not physically intimidating yet wins fights against trained cops. She's not smart or clever but all her shitty ideas work. All she is, is a teenage try hard that everyone goes "oh god she's wearing The Joker's face, she's the real deal better surrender to her."
>>94015297
That goes without saying
>>94015319
Do I read.. self-insert? wish-fulfillment?. Don't know but I liked when Harley kicked Duela's ass in that issue of N52 Squad
>>94014921
I still like her, even after reading this.
>>94015671
I'll try to forget and forgive.
>>94015653
>>94015703
>Made up about a bunch of edgy, contradictory backstories for herself because deep down she's just a completely mundane attention whore obsessed with being special and "cool"
The thing I hate most about Joker's Daughter is that she probably had the potential to be good, I don't know, satire or something, but she was played completely straight far too often.
So did she stay dead when Red Hood shot her?
>>94015796
Who needs satire these days?
>>94015653
she should really do something about that pink eye.
>>94015843
No, it was non-fatal. He later tased her and dropped her off at Arkham or wherever.
>>94014562
and to think that Bennett managed to "Rebirth" herself from that awful picture with her posing with this issue
And that was part 1 of the SDCC '17 Storytime of Pain.. Next: Who Knows?
>>94015319
Except Based Jim.
>>94016273
And other threads:
>>94011836 (Marville)
>>94015371 (Trouble)
>>94013505 (The Unfunnies)
>>94015704 (Change)
>>94016319
I have to disagree with Jim here. In this issue she put more energy and thought in being a supervillain than any Batrogue has in the past 2 decades.
>>94016444
Posting this just because I think it's beatiful dismount from a giant flaming robot.
>>94016018
Not kidding. Photo from SDCC
Joker's bump
>>94016319
>>94016444
>>94016485
If she was written this way (i.e. a capeshit dork hiding behind an edgy facade) a majority of the time she might have been fun.
>>94016544
T-THICC!
>>94014562
I love Deula but this book just spit on her, except >>94015703 is a real good idea.
>>94015796
>>94016444
>>94019484
This. The idea of Deula idealizing supervillainy is a really cool concept, but they tried way too hard to make her "edgy" way too often.
>>94014562
Shame Hetrick was wasted on that vertigo book because her art is pretty good
Wath ever happened to her? Did she ever meet Joker? Did she even have the real face?
>>94020556
She never met the Joker, but she did meet Harley in Suicide Squad.
The face was real, but I think there's a lot of continuity problems regarding it.
This character is one of my biggest whyboners.
Do I have some kind of repressed damaged goods or butter face or guro fetish?
>>94016485
Isn't that robot like 30ft tall?
Did she just survive with no scratches the explosion and fall of a 30 foot mech?
>>94020556
She went to Lobdell.
>>94020556
She teamed up with Red Hood and Arsenal for a while during DCYou and is now in limbo after betraying them or whatever.
>>94021851
>>94021851
It was the dumbest thing.
>she escapes Arkham and goes on a misson to kill Red Hood.
>for some reason she still has the joker skinmask
>>94014562
Reminder that Joker's Daughter sold a buttload and her issue was one of the most expensive one on amazon and ebay and the like
>>94022214
Probably because since Jocker had no villain issue a lot of people moved to this and the title got them extra interested.
>>94021848
C-context?
>>94022312
He had one tho and it was pretty shitty
>>94022214
Yet it was hlrrible and hardly anyone enjoyed it, at all. They bought the brand, not the character.
>>94015167
What happened to the gun?
