Personally, I think this should take Trouble's place in the trinity. Trouble's terrible, sure, but if you take out the Spider-Man connection it's only crap, and not a sin against taste like this garbage.
>>
This one's at least so bad it's good. Those other ones are simply god awful.

And what the fuck is wrong with Mark Millar? Does he just likes to write awful shit?
>>

Come on Anon, learn the protocols here.

Why is Millar so popular Bad ?
>>
>>94017422
I think this should take Unfunnies' place if anything.

Avatar thrives on comics like that.

Marvel doing a romance comic about domestic abuse and cheating is...really dumb.

He likes writing things that will sell.
Sometimes that overlaps with stuff he actually likes to write.

Sometimes it don't.

When I did my first read of Nemesis, it was at the prison break out scene that I realized it was retarded. I could be a slow to catch on, I guess.

I thought the premise of Nemesis was supposed to be "Batman but EVIL" right? The titular douchebag suddenly displaying superhuman strength/durability/whatever just seemed retarded to me.

Nemesis reminds me a lot of old French proto-pulp villain Fantomas. He's a mastermind serial killer/terrorist who has no real aims other than to make the world a worse place for everyone who inhabits it. Fantomas's methods of murder were intricate, well-planned, and notoriously eccentric and brutal for the time (one instance included replacing the clapper of a church bell with his victim so the ringing of the sunday bells would bludgeon him to death).

Anyway, if you're looking for more about a much, MUCH better take on the Nemesis concept, you can read more about Fantomas here: http://www.fantomas-lives.com/

This. More importantly, why don't they take him to a secret government facility to interrogate him and shit? And try and remove those explosives from his body. Taking him to a prison is a huge security risk. If they had arrested Bin Laden on US soil, they sure as hell wouldn't take him to a federal prison right away.

Millar is the most successful comic creator of the 21st century
more talented than Morrison/Johns/whatever your dumb fetish is
>>
this is the book that perfectly encapsulates
>ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED
it's objectively a fucking page turner meant to anger and shock you

>Starlight, Superior, Red Son, Superman Adventures, MPH, Jupiter's Circle, Ultimates/2
Ok, even if this is bait I'll relent on his Superman books. Millar might be a shitty writer but he can write a surprisingly decent Superman. All those other books are completely mediocre though. Hell, I recently read Starlight because I kept hearing how it was one of Millar's """good""" comics and outside of the art it was extremely forgettable. His books like Starlight, while not painfully edgy like Nemesis or Unfunnies, are derivative and boring stories. They're basically written to be pitches for movies that invariably end up being better than the source material. They're not bad comics but I just don't see any point in reading them.
>>
>>94031731
I didn't really feel all that much shock, just constant internal repititions of the phrase "well that was fucking stupid"
>>
>>94020133
Black Dynamite levels of deduction you mean.

>Superior
It's better than Nemesis, but the story climax still relies on contrivances, and while it wants to channel the nostalgic good hearted nature of Christopher Reeve's Superman, it's filled with swearing and murder, and in the final battle, the protagonist outright kills his nemesis, another kid bully turned into a cyborg. Millar wanted to have his cake and eat it too, write a story full of hope and dreams, and still be an edgy shit.

He succeeded better with Starlight in that regard, where he finally let go of the edge.
>>
>>94024259
I felt the opposite because McNiven's art looked great in Civil War and other stuff but looked so off here and in Bendis' GOTG.
>>
Keep all the pain alive as long as possible.

I think what really helps is that the Fantomas stories are pulp mysteries, while this is written like an action movie. The Fantomas books are about learning all the pieces of the puzzle, while this is all about getting to the next set piece.

Also, and this could just be me, and I've only read a few of the novels, I think the Fantomas stuff is generally pretty fun to read and decently written. I think it helps we're not supposed to fawn over how cool Fantomas is he just is cool, while Nemesis practically bends over and begs us to think its villain is the next pop culture icon.
>>
>>94032571
Also, forgot to mention, while Fantomas always comes across like he has a plan, unlike Nemesis they aren't stupidly foolproof and Inspector Juve is shown to be more than keeping up with him. Fantomas is just really good at improvising when Juve dismantles his newest plot.

He also doesnt throw himself at guys all the time and uses his subordinates to get shit done that doesnt need personal aatention, and his real strength is how elusive he is, because he knows when to cut his losses.
>>
>>94017999
I know people often say that Millar is just doing movie pitches, but just look at these pages. Look at the angles the artist uses. The constant 4-widescreen panels that mimics a Michael Bay film. This is a storyboard for a movie.

McNiven is pretty bad too in this one. Coloring or the inking that makes everyone look so flaccid.

Only Millar would think to turn the President into a suicide bomber. Bravo.

can someone explain the answers to me?

I would've thought it'd be shit like

a breath (oxygen/carbon dioxide) -> an oxygen tank factory or some shit
>>
>>94024723
It's simple anon. You just add the digits together. If they add up to 10 or more, you add them up again before moving to the next one.

1+8=9
9+7=16. 1+6=7
7+7=14. 1+4=5

5=Pentagon.
>>
>>94031906
>Ok, even if this is bait

Oh fuck off
>>
I said this 2 months ago when it was storytimed and I'll say it again, how does Nemesis even recruit henchmen for his plans? He only pays them ten million dollars to essentially plunge the world to WW3, how are they even planning on spending that, there's gonna be too much heat, hell in the movie SWAT the russian mob boss offered anyone who frees him 800 million dollars making the risk of life somewhat sensible to do but for 10 million? You can spend 10 million dollars in an instant. Also this guy who can beat armed guards somehow lost to a 60+ year old president?
>>
>>94033160

Nemesis would be "What if Victor Von Doom were Batman".
>>
>>94036054
Nemesis pretty much is Batman already. A dude who works because he's got cash and cash to spend on preptime. It's just that he's targeting the rich and well-connected rather than the poor and mad.
>>
>>94036156
Sure, but this level >>94020347 >>94020379 of bullshit is only pulled by Doom. Not even Batman written by Morrison is that OP.

Yes, this is bait. Are you fucking retarded enough to actually hold this opinion?
>>
>>94040521
>write successful
>retard reads "talented"

Literate much, douchebag?
>>
>>94040566
Ok, have any numbers to back up that assertion shit-for-brains? It's not like he's the most popular or lauded comic author of the 21st century, so how the hell is he the most successful author by any metric? It sure as shit can't be sales because most of his recent stuff is published by Image which doesn't exactly dominate the comic market.

Not to mention you did in fact use the word "talented" when comparing him to other comic authors, so it seems you may be the one who suffers from a literacy problem.
>>
Nemesis 2 when?
>>
>>94019145
it's not terrible, but it's not good. all the components that make it up could make for a really great story, but it's handled so poorly that >>94019132 happens

Aahhhhhh, the old bazooka-bike-backflip manoeuvre. They always fall for that one.
>>
>>94018800
This is probably the most satisfying page in the comic.

Too bad it's all downhill from here.
>>
>>94019145
I guess it all depends on how much you can self insert into nemesis, or how much in general you just enjoy seeing edgy assholes pull an endless series of impossible KEIKAKU DOORI's
>>
>>94019272
How many people are in his crew again? 4? 6 perhaps?

And nobody thought it was odd that a handful of guys were just parking 200 perfectly identical cars outside the prison, and then leaving them?

So this is a nonary game?
>>

it's not preptime when it's completely stupid shit like "I bought cars for every person in this prison"

Is there a way we can get him excommunicate? pretty sure his comics must hurt the church in any way
