Why do I hear people complain about retro game prices, when compared to new prices factoring inflation they're pretty cheap.
So is paying $20 to $80 dollars for a quality game really bad or is it just poorfags complaining?
If i am paying that much i wanted it shrink wrapped and complete too
There's quite a few games that are common that cost far too much. Earthbound, Final Fantasy 3 (US), and Chrono Trigger are extremely common games, but the demand for them causes their prices to inflate annually.
Most retro games are pretty cheap though.
>>3546031
Inflation doesn't apply on a used item. Of I bought a regular-ass game for $89.99 in 1985, used it for thirty years, and tried to sell it for $120, it wouldnt sell based on price and inflation alone.
What the fuck is that little thing? It looks so dumb. This game has terrible space ship designs.
How does that little fin thing even make sense in terms of physics?
1) How do you land that thing?
2) How'd they even build it? How is that little thing on the bottom supposed to support the entire weight of the space ship?
>>3546024
Since when has SHMUP design ever made sense?
>>3546024
i really like the ships in this game no homo
>>3546024
Variable geometrey winglet
Utilized for atmospheric manuevers. Due to battle damage it is partially stuck in it's exposed position, otherwise it would be fully retracted for battle on the moon.
If you want to see truely retarded ship designs, pic up any Euro/US shmup.
I will beat this game, I know I will
'Cuz I'm the king of wishful thinking
No, you won't beat Gradius III.
>>3545943
>>3545943
I beat it and can confirm it is possible. Which version are you playing?
What are your opinions on Simon's Quest Revamped?
>>3545935
How does it compare to that DOS remake/tribute?
>>3545935
The music sounds like garbage. The overall sound design is pretty bad too. It's otherwise a fair remake.
>>3545968
There's a DOS remake?
I'm primarily a shooterfag/shmupfag, but I've had my eye on RPGs for a while and am really curious about them.
I wanna expand my horizons and try some new stuff, but since I've mainly played bangshooty games I'm not sure what the best way to ease in would be.
Outside of the obvious answer of "action RPGs", can you suggest any RPGs with neat battle systems?
I started up Legend of Legaia and it seems pretty fun. I like punching the monsters.
In retro games. Triace is your answer to different battle systems. Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean have interesting battle systems. One is made of having to think the order in which you will attack and what attacks you will use to break through some enemies defenses, especially since a lot of enemies can one shot you in this game unless you take them out early or have specific equipment to deal with them. The other is very much "live action" in terms of going to the second screen to do battle, but once you are there you control your character as an action rpg of sorts.
I'd also mention the tales series...but I was never too fond of the battles there. Love the game, but it's basically a 2d kind of fight screen where you just beat the shit out of each other.
>>3545952
Thanks, anon. I'll definitely be giving both of those a check, then.
>>3545930
Tales series, Star Ocean, Xenogears, Paper Mario, try those.
If you have a DS or 3DS, try the Mario & Luigi RPGs.
Decided to play another X-Men Genesis game since X-Men 2 was so fuckin fun.
Why is this game so subpar? Cyclops aim stance and random button lag is actually giving me migraines...Does it get better? The music is good though...
>>3545829
>Why is this game so subpar?
>Flying Edge
>>3545829
Who's the red and blue guy?
>>3545868
I think it's Deadpool.
What are some good Sega Saturn sports games?
Does Daytona count?
I like NBA Jam: Tournamnt Edition, Sega Rally Championship, Fire Pro Wrestling S: 6 Man Scramble, WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game, and WWF: In Your House for sports games on the Saturn.
I used to enjoy a lot of sports games but there are few I want on the system.
>>3545817
There's an NBA game done by the developer who did the Dreamcast NBA games, but I dunno if the Saturn one is any good.
Im looking for a Genesis, but i know shit about thge system so i just want to ask for some advice.
How much is pic related worth? is that a model 1 or 2 Genesis?
>>3545783
Model 3 which is worth $150 and easily the best Genesis available.
>>3545791
>>3545783
That is a model 2 genesis.
Those are pretty common games. My local pawn shop had most of those games priced at $2-$7.
Still the best wario game
comfy wario
The controls, the setting, the music, the retro feel...
Can we all admit that this game is perfect?
Can we all admit this is a shitpost?
>>3545698
But what gave it a retro feel?
but what did he mean by saying it had a retro feel? I NEED THE ANSWERS OP!
Hey /vr/, I found a Game Gear with Sonic 2 at Goodwill for $9 today and picked it up because I didn't have one.
It seems to work fine, but I notice it's extremely quiet. I can barely hear it at full volume. Is this part of the capacitor issue I hear so much about? Can it be fixed by someone without a ton of technical knowledge? I mean, it's playable, I can hear it reasonably well with headphones, but I wouldn't mind having it fixed.
Also, what games would you recommend? I notice games for this thing are pretty cheap, which I'm quite happy about.
>>3545663
> I mean, it's playable
Give it a week.
>>3545663
Minimally, the audio caps need to be replaced. You should probably replace them all. I'd say its a medium difficulty soldering job as far as retro system work goes. If you have a friend that knows what they're doing then beg a favour of them. It's $7-8 for the cap set from console5, a little cheaper on ebay.
I picked a couple up too. One of them I can't get anything other than scrolling lines on the screen and the sound is faint. The other has screen lines which clear up after a couple of minutes powered on but the sound is completely dead.
I'm going to recap this second one and maybe use the first for spares unless it could benefit from the same treatment. I also got a TV tuner but can't seem to get it to accept a composite signal. Do these need recapping too or is it just dead?
Pic is games I have. Any dead wood or notable exceptions I should pick up?
I am going to buy a Super Famicom. A friend had one when I was younger and I was fascinated with it, so it has been like a lifelong desire. I'm wondering, is there any way to play an SNES game on the Super Famicom? You know, like if I want to play A Link to the Past or a game with dialogue so that I may understand it.
Yes there is a cartridge adapter to play SNES games. Though I have no idea where you would find one in this day and age.
>>3545547
You could just buy a US SNES, cut out the tabs (assuming they haven't done it already), and play Super Famicom games instead.
>>3545560
This. It's much more of a pain to mod the slot of a SFC to fit US games than vice-versa.
How do you feel about All Stars? Better or worse than the originals? Which would you rather play?
2 and 3 play fine, physics are fucked up on 1 and Lost Levels. I'd usually rather the play originals but All Stars is nice for a change of pace sometimes. Plus saving is good.
I prefer the All Stars version of 2 and 3, but the originals for the other two games.
Also, they should have kept the sound effects the same, or at least just the fireball and jump sounds, they don't carry the same weight in the SNES games.
>>3545359
I'm pretty much the same. Originals play better but I prefer the SMAS version of 2.
Sup /vr/, I want to buy pic related, but want to know if they come with batteries for saving in the cart. Can you share your experiences with them, do they last long before shitting out and not saving?
A new baterry cust less than 1 buck, nigga.
>>3545172
I dont have dx or seasons, so thats why im asking if these bootlegs have the ability to save, or batteries in them to save
>>3545187
>my oldboy for android
>bluetooth controller
I turn on cheats when I play just about any game made before 1995
>>3545147
I know a guy in college who did this, for pretty much all games. Also, he was a faggot who would read the end of a book first.
>>3545147
>I turn on cheats when I play just about any game made before I was
>>3545147
I'M SO UPSET OVER THIS!
Wait, no actually it doesn't affect me at all.
