Metal Slug thread?
Which one do you like best?
3, the final stage is insane.
X followed by 3. MS3 is sometimes too much

Care to elaborate?
Now that VR gear such as Oculus Rift and Vive are starting to be all the rage in the contemporary gaming community I would like to ask /vr/ if anyone here is collecting old VR stuff.
Show us your collections, share your experiences, /VR/-enthusiasts.

kek. Aside from resolution VR hasn't improved much on the last couple decades. The Oculus has more lag than the Virtuality I played 20+ years ago. I don't have a Virtuality in my collection because I don't have a spare room to keep it in. I don't have a vfx/vb/other shit because I flush my turds.
Alright /vr/ lets play a game. I'll choose a random game and you play it and tell me your opinion on it. Join in or not, don't give a fuck. This is basically going to be a /vr/ bookclub. I'll use the retro game gauntlet and random a game. If you do not have the console of this weeks game, well too bad, your own fault.
This weeks random game will be:
Section Z
Good luck /vr/
I had that game as a kid, it sucked so I traded it and Strider in for Kirby's Adventure
Trade was well worth it
>>2914445
I like the arcade version, being able to turn around and shoot behind is cool.
I'm quite shit at it though, I haven't cleared the second stage.
>>2915569
>it sucked
so does your mum
I bought a bunch so you can have your choice. Now you got nothing to complain about!
>>2914236
Hell yes, Sidewinder controller! Thanks bro!
>>2914238
It's definitely the pick of the litter
The ones with the best dpad are wireless
Okay, I have a PS1 console just like the one in the picture, as well as an HDTV with LED-based screen. I've been using the standard composite RCA A/V cables to hook the PS1 up to it, but I've never been satisfied with the video quality. My TV also has a component input, an HDMI input and a VGA input. Can my PS1 be hooked up to any of these for a better picture? If so, what will I need to buy and how would I go about hooking it all up? I don't have an old-fashioned tube TV to use, only HDTV.
TV sounds pretty old.
Micomsoft scalers with rgb cables are the best options.
Ditch the PSOne and emulate via HDMI.
>>2914215
Use an RGB to Component converter. You're already using LED, no need to add additional lag for no benefit with an HDMI analog-to-digital converter.
Why is this game shit on by people? I thought it was ambitious, interesting, and dare I say fun? It's just as good, if not better, than most of the black box titles.
>>2914194
Because it's a shitty knock of of Space Harrier that isn't even close to being as good.
>>2914203
Try Space Harrier mixed with Mario. Only the boss battles are reminiscent of Space Harrier. The actual levels are more like a platformer game. It's like Super Mario Bros if the camera was behind Mario.
>>2914194
I dunno, I like it.
I'm searching for this game because this game is my childhood memory. If you have this rom I'll be thankful if you can upload it and send me link.
well it is not that hard

not op but thanks, like op, this is one of those games I started in my childhood but didn't get very far in
gfx and atmosphere were great for ... 1996? i remember running it on my AST Pentium 1 without a 3d-accelerator
This is currently on sale for $15 on PSN? Is it worth it?
Those games are SERIOUSLY old however IMO Ghosts N Goblins alone is worth $15 especially if that's the only way you'll get to play the original arcade version. You will definitely get some authentic retro chops from most of those games.
>>2914007
I already have the Capcom Clasics Collections on PS2, but the emulation in some of the games (like Strider playing the wrong music in Stage 4 and Player 2 being the wrong color in Side Arms) leaves a lot to desire.
I'm trying to like this game but i can't anybody else had the same experience?
and general game gear thread
stop playing it if you don't like it retard
>>2913772
how about you go bavk to v faggot
>>2913774
you seem pretty mad, maybe you shouldn't force yourself to play things you don't like
What are you busy playing right now /vr/?
I've been playing Power Drift. Boy it's hard. I can ace every Out Run route but this thing is kicking my ass. Damn fun though. And incredibly impressive from a technical stand point for its time. And it goes without saying that the music is fantastic.
You?
Near the end of FFIV, my first FF, atleast I think it is almost the end, finished the Giant of Babil. All in all it was a pretty fun experience, somewhat easy, but stuff like the 3 behemoths fights in a row were pretty hard
>>2913630
Super Metroid. I played it for the first time about 6 years ago but didn't finish it. At the time I thought it was pretty overrated. Now I'm playing it again, on a SNES this time instead of the VC, and I'm absolutely loving it. I'm at Ridley right now, but he keeps kicking my ass...
I've been playing another Super Scaler classic actually, wish M2 had ported Power Drift as part of this collection too. The Outrun release is hot garbage btw.
Hey Skeletons,
My name is Nick Virago, and I hate every single one of you. All of you are skinny, boney, no-lifes who spend every second of their day of the dead betting on stupid ass cats. You are everything bad in the land of the dead. Honestly, have any of you ever gotten any pelvis bone? I mean, I guess it's fun solving puzzles because of your own insecurities, but you all take it to a whole new level. This is even worse than being friends with a demon.
Don't be a stranger. Just hit me with your best sprout. I'm pretty much perfect. I work as the BEST lawyer here in Rubacava for Maximino under an exclusive deal. What cases have you closed, other than your own casket? I also get paid and laid with this banging hot tart Olivia (I just BONED her; Shit was SO cash). You are all losers who should just kill yourselves... again. Thanks for listening.

Fucking google it, dumbass.
Is this a good way to get into Dragon Quest series?
is Theatrhythm a good way to get into the Final Fantasy series?
>>2913381
Perhaps.
>>2913354
Honestly, you should start with a mainline DQ game.
DQ Monsters is meant for A) People that want more from the DQ series but have played a shit ton or all of them and B) People that LOVE Monster RPGs.
Either way, if this is how you get into the series I'd love to have ya as this means more discussion.
You know, I really wanted to like this game.
I had Lufia 2 as a kid and finally decided to get Lufia and give it a shot.
I like Lufia 2. I think it's a great JRPG. I like the puzzles and the IP system. I figured I'd finally try out the original and see what it's all about. I just got out of the Ghost Cave.
How anyone thought this was good is beyond me.
The enemy targeting system is one of the dumbest thing's I've ever seen. Frequently making you distribute your damage against multiple enemies, basically making whether or not you kill something dumb fucking luck.
This basically forces you to grind to hedge your bets. You could beat it at lower levels if you got good rolls and hit the same enemy over and over.
I'm level 14. I've had to grind probably 4 times already and I'm only like 2 and a half hours in.
The encounter rate is ridiculous and the amount of enemies you fight per encounter is disgusting. Lufia finally learned Bang, which targets everything which should help but my god the sheer amount of time spent per random battle is insane.
It also falls into the Lufia 2 pattern of doing a shitload of mundane tasks before you can progress to your next boring fetch quest.
Convince me to finish this /vr/. Tell me it gets better.
>>2913227
I remember watching someone play this on an emu in alternative school. I tried it out and then went back to Helicopter Game.
I say finish it just to say you did. You never know, it might pick up. RPGs tend to get more fun as you gain access to more skills, more customisation and more challenging battles. From what I've seen, there are many people who love Lufia 2 but don't like Lufia 1 so you're not alone.
sorry, I think it stays consistently crappy all the way through. Lufia 2 was a fluke.
What emulated game are you playing on your cell phone? Pic related.
>>2913203
Since it's not very powerful, I can't emulate anything but NES and GB/C
>>2913203
On my psp I'm emulating demons Crest and phantasy star iv among others. Dont believe all that talk about psp snes emulation. Ive had only one instance where it was faulty
>>2913491
the only game i had a problem playing properly was dkc3, was slow as fuck for no reason idkwat
I remember when I was a kid, my Rygar was bugged or something, I couldn't pass this one certain screen.
I'm about to go back like 25 years later and settle some unfinished business
Who is your Rygar? Games you still have to beat thread
>>2912873
Robo Warrior
fuck that game, I'm convinced it's impossible. Either that or I'll just never figure out how to play it.
>>2912873
R-Type, TurboGrafx version
never got past Stage 4
apparently they even had the audacity to ADD an extra boss in the port. Fuck that shit
>>2912873
Every play the PS2 Rygar? It's good.
