>Mortals create gods
>Gods enslave mortals
>Dystopian theocracies dominate now the world.
Does that sound stupid?
Warhammer
>>54324863
Makes sense to me. Sci-fi has done similar with AIs. I'll also say that the execution is more important than the premise here.
everything here sounds god besides
>mortals create gods
always hated that shit

>Do you have any wod related guilty pleasures?
A vampire one, yes.Twilight.
>>54324263
Just downloaded cWoD Sorcerers as Inspiration for myWoD where True mages don't exist and Sorceres take their place.
>>54324375
Stale bait.
Excuse me, Divine Valar, but while I understand that Elves go West when they die and Men and Halflings go to Not-Heaven, what happens to Dwarves?
Why are you trying to resurrect this dead forced meme? It's cringey as fuck.
>>54324174
They gather in a specific part of the Hall of Mandos made for them. Dwarves also believe that their first seven kings are reincarnated.
>>54324174
IIRC, Dwarves were made solely by Aule and were never meant to be part of the song of Eru. Nobody knows what happens to them and they are fine with that.
If you had to make a cycle of five creatures, one from each color, of the most iconic or classic creatures from each color, which ones would you pick? I'm talking about older cards that work really well as "representatives" of their color, regardless of their modern powerlevel.
Pic related was my attempt. It's weird, but I have no idea what I'd pick for green.
>>54323625
Green is obviously Craw Wurm
>>54323625
Blue is Mahamoti Djinn and Black is Sengir Vampire.
These are the 4 feel-good cards in the 30 card sample packs Wizards gives out
>>54323625
Can they be iconic in terms of format prevalence?
Is there a version of dnd with the same power lvl as 3.5 and 5th edition but with actual dangerous combat? like in ad&d where combat was a state of failure if not well planed
No.
>>54323431
3.5 and 5e have vastly, VASTLY different power levels, anon.
>>54323431
D&D 3.5 with Tucker's Kobolds DMing in effect, plus the DM optimizing his NPCs and playing them optimally as well.
I'm wondering something for my campaign setting:
How do fantasy governments try to deal with these giant monsters/spirits/hordes/whatever when there are no adventurers to hire? Do they try to co opt them, like giving them reserved seats in a Parliament? Convince the Dragons to vote regularly?
Or do they just ignore it until it goes away? Or something else?
Generally its assumed that the wilderness is either tamed or its not. if its tamed it basicly means that the cities and roads to cities have been made safe trough willpower and large amounts of local genocide (except its warranted mostly).
Unless a tarrasque or lich decides to stroll by, mankind is very good at stripping magic of surrounding areas to make it safe. Atleast in fantasy settings.
>>54323515
I never got how human settlement somehow decreases the magic of an area.
>>54323529
Its not really that they decrease it, more that they tame it and push it away. Humans have one good thing going for them when it comes to survival: adaptability. If magical shit is detrimental to it (such as it is when dealing with spirits and owlbears and other sundred things) then we'll find a way to fix it ASAP.
In most fantasy settings that means taking the bullshit and pushing it away or taming the wildness and putting it under the thumb of humanity.
Basic campaign idea; someone's got a Death Note. Same rules as the official series. Now we got a Kira on the loose. Maybe someone else or more people get Death Notes later, to spice up the scenario if needed.
The party is assigned to find and arrest/kill Kira.
They have to follow the clues, figure out the Kira is using supernatural means to kill people, find out what his motive is (probably different from Light's motive), get some evidence, build a case against him, etc.
Thriller ensues. People in this thread whine about the series, probably. Got any ideas? Go!

How have thinks not changed in the 40k universe?
There are so many people that everything you could think of could happen, and probably happened in the thousands
Also between every book thousands of years pass, a ton of things could of happened
How has this universe not moved forward in any way shape or form?
This doesn't deserve a whole thread but I will try to clear it up.
40k is a specific time frame.
Things are always changing but our point of reference is always the same one.
Stories set on earth in the year 2000 will always describe humanity as a whole in similar terms.
Now 40k is meant to be set in our universe but we haven't mastered AI, nuked our own oceans or started colonizing other planets yet.
The sad part about the 40k universe is it describes a setting where humanity has past it's prime and is a dying old man.
But things did change, and they all helped create 40k as we know it. The beast, vandire and all the events like that shaped an Imperium that was different from the one that was before and the one that would come after.
>>54322378
>The sad part about the 40k universe is it describes a setting where humanity has past it's prime and is a dying old man.
Wrong. That's the Eldar. Humanity received two impossibly powerful, extinction-level blows, and still kept moving forward. There is still hope for victory and salvation.

Lies.
Reposting this for feedback.
>After you were all so nice to Steampunk I've felt inspired to finish my WIP jump that's sat half finished on my computer for months. But the problem is that other than 3-4 things I have no idea on what to use as items outside the mecha customization section. How would people feel about not having an item section other than a small general one? That way you could spend more points on either perks or covert them to customization points. And fuck I literally just got an idea on a way to redo origins that probably makes things better. And no I'm not going to say what jump it is in hopes of the extremely unlikely chance someone decides to claim it and I don't have to struggle with it anymore.
Have you played any Western RPGs, anons? How did it go? What are your best system, preferably without magic or supernatural elements?
>>54321288
I GMed a one-shot of Dogs in the Vineyard. It went well, the PCs discovered someone was having an affair, dragged the woman out of her house and shot her in the head, then hunted the man through the wilderness before killing him as well.
>>54321288
Ran a short Zombie story based in Boulder, Colorado with the Deadlands system.
It was fun. Scared the PCs decently, and they got cool things to do. Even the woman who played a yankee doctor woman had some stuff to do that was fun. Though I think the gambling huckster and the cowpoke had more fun.
Gunslingers and Gamblers.
Every roll is like a little game of yatze with poker dice.
We all know FATAL, some of us consider it to be the worst TTRPG of all time.
A buddy of mine sent me this video review today of arguably a worse game.
The guy who published it apparently didn't even proofread his own book before publishing it.
I'm thinking of getting it myself and seeing if it's as bad as the guy on the video makes it out to be.

that book is a murder weapon
possessive and then a preposition. The English fails hard here.
40k: There is a Slaanesh and 2 other armies getting start collecting boxes very soon. Heard this from some GW staff.
Khorne and Tzeentch?

Nah I don't so. I would have remembered those names if they said it, but apparently this will be ready to pre order for tomorrow
Probably GSC and primaris marines.
How would I run a tennis themed campaign?
>>54320428
If you want it to be interesting at all, you'll either have to include magic or go full sports anime. Or both.
