Reposting... So a couple of threads ago an anon talked about their campaign's gem/weapon enhancement system. I liked it, but I felt it could use some work in some places. What do you all think and what would you change?

Enchanted Gem
>An enchanted gem can be inserted into a slotted weapon or armor for various effects depending on the gem. This process takes 1 minute and you must make a successful Jeweler's Tool check (DM Discretion) to add or remove the gem from the slotted weapon or armor. While a gem is not inside of a weapon or armor you can use an action and throw it onto a hard surface breaking the gem for various effects.

Slotted Weapons
>100 GP per slot (Maximum of 3)
>Using a bonus action you can activate all gems embedded into this weapon.
>This can be done with magic weapons

Slotted Armors
>100 GP Per Slot (Maximum of 3)
>This can be done with magic weapons

Magic Gem Prices:
Tier 4: 1,000 GP
Tier 3: 7,000 GP
Tier 2: 15,000 GP
Tier 1: 500,000 GP

Ruby Tier 4
>Weapon: Upon activation, while this gem is inside of this weapon, your weapon's damage type changes to fire until the start of your next turn.
>Armor: While this gem is inside of this armor, when you take fire damage you may use your reaction to gain resistance to fire damage until the start of your next turn.
>Break: If this gem is ever broken, it explodes, each creature within a 20-foot radius centered on the explosion must make a DC: ?? Dexterity saving throw. A target takes 3d10 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. The fire spreads around corners. It ignites flammable objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried.

Most people are reluctant to eat things that they can talk to, but a lot of it is physical similarity. A human would be reluctant to eat a halfling or dwarf but a talking goose? Eh, it didn't talk to me.

I've always had it as taboo in my settings but I've always participated in it if needed or desired. I once had a DMPC that was a foodie cannibal just because I could wanted him to be. Still was taboo and he never got anyfriends and was considered the sickest of creatures, but I loved Kalico like you wouldn't believe.

Eating other humanoids is, generally, regarded as disgusting.

Humanoids tend to have the same ideas towards Goblinoid, but Goblinoids don't.

Generally I'd give it to the magic people since they're more able to freely move through normal human society. If the world finds out magic is real people would react along the lines of "Hey cool". If vampires of werewolves are discovered it's more of a call to hunt

Stop running games.

Railroading can sometimes help. I'm in a game with 7 other people and it's fucking impossible to keep them all on task. Just spent 4 hours haggling with a shopkeep, only for one asshole to blow a Horn of Blasting (and trigger the explosion) and shatter everything of value. We had to run, but one party member wanted to stay and help clean up while vigorously claiming to not be associated with us.

Sometimes its okay to say "Alright, you're doing this now."

Is it just religion that's shitty or are his settings shitty places to live in?If it's the latter maybe your DM just has a hard on for grimdark

Tell him you want to explore a story that isn't religion bashing.

If he accuses you of siding with the cannibals than tell him it's poor story telling to walk in your own rut over and over.

There are other stories to tell and be told. Much better can be told without jewhanded bishops plotting to destroy popular morality with child sacrifice and sodomy, not necessarily in that order.

Beyond that, if he has some issues with religion, rpg's are not the place to address them.
