>When America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to.
This is a reminder that the most important part of your sword is the hilt. If you've ever traded one sword for another without considering which hilt to keep, you've spat in the face of all that is good.
>>44567911
A lot of sword are made with the hilt, if you try to switch it up it might not fit or would throw off the balance
The hilt and the sword are a single piece. OP is retarded.
That text is pretty obvious to me. Why would you leave your saddle with the dead horse? That's retarded.
>>44568120
>Why would you leave your saddle with the dead horse? That's retarded.
Because it is heavy, and your next horse will already have a saddle?
Thread question: How do you get enjoyment from this hobby? What kinds of a game do you think is the most enjoyable (Close victory, Crushing opponent totally, whittling down the opponents deck/hand/permanents until nothing is left)?
I enjoy very long games that end by the opponent failing to be able to complete a turn (I don't mill, I just recycle).
What I like about magic is that there are so many unique ways of winning
though the more you play the more you realize that these things are more similar than they appear at a glance

Pic related, it's the silliest chart from "Trailblazer", a mixed-quality fix that tried to quantify the issues in core with good hard math. ..

>class imbalance
Never noticed it.
We've got a good group.
Caster "supremecy" isn't something we have ran into.
Can a mage be deadly? Yes. They're supposed to be deadly. Are they "better" than other classes? Depends on what you like to play.
We don't use homebrew classes, or supplements written for "high magic" campaigns.
I don't "homebrew" per se, since everything I use is based on existing rules. But I do house-rule. It is fun to experiment.
>Did anyone ever put out a good patch for 3.5?
No, and I don't believe they could, since the best stuff for 3.5 is not covered by the OGL and people cower before the wrath of America's legal system. The OGL is wonderful in that it made a whole vast ecology of 3.5 products available, but nobody ever actually beat Wizards at their game while they played it. That, indeed, is why WotC was okay with making the OGL in the first place.
With all the "patches" only working on Core and unable to even use the alternative class features WotC put out, you might as well not bother. You are better off making your own (unpublishable) mods to 3.5 that suit your table and play style.
>>44548277
>Caster "supremecy" isn't something we have ran into.
There's always been a subset of 3.5 players who say this. (Not sure how numerous they are relative to the imbalance guys, but certainly less vocal.)
One thing you wrote does make me wonder, though - how are your spellcaster players aiming at being "deadly"? By casting damage-dealing spells like Magic Missile, Fireball, etc? By flinging save-or-dies? Or something else?

Song of Swords is a realistic fantasy tabletop RPG that draws inspiration from historical fechtbuchs, weapons and armor. Its combat system is fast and it can be used for both fantasy and historical/mundane settings.
Call of the Void is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

Your people have been migrating for days now, on the verge of fatigue they are ready to settle. Where do your people settle?
A)By a river; Increased contact with other people. Bonus to food. Bonus to water.
B)In a forest; Increased wood production. Bonus to food. More hidden to other groups of people
C)In a desert; Almost no contact with other groups. Food is hard to find. Water is hard to find. People are generally hardier though.
D)In a mountain; Increase in natural defenses. Weather is harsher on the mountain. Less contact with other people
E)In a valley; Increase in natural defenses. Contact with other groups is unlikely.
F)In a plain; Increase in food. Contact with people likely. Bonus to eyesight range, harder for people to sneak up to you.

I back this option
Why do you like DMing, /tg/? What make it fun for you? Non dm asking
>>44580175
Yes I do. I'm that rare breed of GM that actually enjoys it more than he does playing it, and I'm doing it NOT because nobody else wants to do it.
I like GMing because I view it as sort of being an entertainer. I can't sing, I can't dance, I'm horrible at stand-up comedy, I can't play an instrument, but I can at least tell you a nice interactive story.
It's fun for me to see all the neat PC shenanigans. Plus just the usual OOC banter at the table amongst friends.
GMing is the only way my friends and I will have a game. One has been forever GM and wants a break. No one else wants to step up, and even if they did, only two of the five of us even make characters instead of stat sheets with a nametag.
Tl;dr only way I get to approach playing, so I'm forced to "like" it.
I like making characters, so much so that I make a ton.
I like having more direct control over a plot, so naturally setting up the boundaries appeals to me
I like seeing what people do in strange situations
I like the look on a man or woman's face when you reveal your trap and they realize how fucked they are
I like seeing how they get out of it despite your best effort
8ED and 9ED should be banned Edition
Saying "go back to Standard/Hearthstone" is not an argument to support these monstrosities. These cards are very poor game design and are toxic for this format by punishing entire colors and color combinations.

You monster.

Rise is a stain on the name of Gemini.
You are Siris Erickson, and you are a mutant. This is hardly surprising, considering both of your parents are mutants, and you grew up surrounded by mutants. Despite being somewhat of a late bloomer with your powers, the leaders of the Xavier Institute saw incredible potential in you and your abilities. With the ability to control the wavelength and frequency of light, as well as emit light from your body, you could theoretically do incredible things, although that is currently limited to a limited control over the light in the surrounding area and the ability to concentrate light into a laser. Both of which tend to give you painful headaches, and you can only do those with the help of a specially created suit. You were accepted into the Xavier Institute mid-year despite the late arrival of your powers, and you have been accepted into the Paragons squad.

Your brother, Lewis has gotten wrapped up in some bad stuff. For a while, he’s been selling some new drug called Toad Juice for Frankie Zapruder, all while dating the daughter of Zapruder’s rival, Daniel Kaufman. Recently, he’s gone missing, all while Kaufman started selling Toad Juice. You and your squad headed for Mutant Town to search for the truth of what happened to your brother. Currently, you’re making your way into Zapruder’s turf to try and get answers.
>>44573235
You want to say more to Pixie, but you’re cut off by the sudden shout from Guido, “Get down!” You and your squad dive for cover as a car pulls up, and a man leans out the window with a gun, firing a few shots at you. He’s cut off, however, as Guido charges through the gunfire and slams into the car, tipping it onto it’s side. He rips both the driver and the gunman from the car, tossing them over to where you and your squad are. He steps away from the burning wreckage, giving you a grin. “You’d think at some point the bad guys would stop shooting at the big buff guy.”
After a little bit, you, Guido, and Match manage to get your attackers set up in an alley out of view where you can ask them questions. They both seem loyal enough not to talk right away, although you’re sure with a bit of convincing you can make them talk. As Guido looms over the two, making sure they don’t try to run, Match approaches you. “Yo, Siris, uh... I was thinking. You know how in movies, they have a good cop and a bad cop? I think we should do that too.”
