What was Lorgar's intended purpose? He seems to have been the weakest Primarch by far. Worse at fighting than pretty much all of his siblings, no particularly outstanding psychic gifts to make up for it, little interest in war and fighting... Why would the Emperor want a Primarch like him?
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>44581207
The Emperor didn't

But that because the Emperor was brilliant at wasting the potential of his underlings.

Lorgar is one of the primarchs whose talents were wasted on war.

He was a great motivator, a political reformer and a builder of societies. He was in many ways a spiritual Guilliman.

If he, Guilliman and Fulgrim had been given to Malcador and given positions in the Administratum the Imperium would have been so much better.

But then the Emperor not going Full Fedora might also have helped.
>>
>>44581227
To be fair, Lorgar was created to be one of the greatest soldiers in the galaxy and his purpose was to lead the Emperor's armies while daddy governed and did research. The enormous expense of creating a primarch seems wasted on menial bureaucratic labor that does not actually require their massive size and power.
>>
>>44582298
Irrelevant.

They were lost assets the moment the Emperor forgot to put warp-proofing on his doom fort.

After that all primarchs were salvage.

And also keeping the Empire is as important as conquering it.

And daddy wasn't governing it. Malcador was. Daddy E was fucking around with tings in his basements he didn't understand.

So, Yesterday there was a wonderful little "Drow prisoner wat do" type thread. Not that all such threads were wonderful, but there were a few highlights. The God-Emperor himself showed up and began a tale of Naive drow and terrified young men. There were many disputes over whether or not it was OK to be lewd to bashful drow maids, with surprisingly good imagery pertaining to it. I myself took up the mantle of an old Knight, bickering on the topic of the morality of committing genocide on their entire race with another anon who, I admit, was a highly competitive opponent.I tell these things for the thread was deleted, and I can only view the first half. /tg/, bring me your tales of glory, of adventure, of two angry knights fighting with silly proverbs, and naive drow maids seeing the world for the first time. BRING ME A CHAMPION /TG/

Our conversation got me thinking, you know.

About paladins and how they should be the chosen champion of the god they serve: wouldn't it be natural for them to be sort of prophets aswell? Hearing the will of their god and carrying out their will.

That is, of course, if the paladin serves a god rather than an ideology in a setting.

multiply your height by that number

Greetings
So i'm trying to make my players go insane in more lovecraftian ways and am asking for a little bit of help.
So here's the game
Easy Mode: Give a Lovecraftian Insanity
Hard Mode: Give a specific example of insanity in Lovecraftian fiction.
Eldritch Mode: Quote the passage

The trick isn't to make it edgy, but to make it personal. You need to pick up the player where they are, and then increase tension incrementally. You make the symbols, you don't have to be overt about it, or crude.

CoC pretty much leaves you alone with the san countdown. At best it offers ways to flavor it (Monophobia), but the inner mechanics of the game seriously lack. To amend this introduce the Madness Meter, or play with another system altogether (UA, Nemesis, DG).

Basically every Lovecraft character has some kind of unhealthy fixation. It isn't about finding clinical terms but about undercutting the shared delusion that we call sanity. The characters do not go insane, they realize that in face of the reality they have uncovered all of mankind is doomed and failing to admit it to itself. This removes them from the usual context of human interaction in polite society. But to call them insane requires a shift of perspective away from the character and back into the society they originated from. Forget all you have learned with/through the character and their actions and expectations appear dissociated from reality, but you as reader know the actual reality where these actions make sense.

To put it into game terms: Do not define the character as insane. Instead reveal the universe to their squinting eyes and define everyone else as oblivious and therefore problematic to interact with.

Not that anon, but thanks, that's a nice PDF, I'll use it.

I want to adapt some Delta Green adventures to Eclipse Phase. I'd ask in /epg/, but I couldn't find it. Looking for advice, especially how to deal with the fact that no one uses papers and books anymore.
>>
>>44581508
DG relies heavily on law enforcement and alphabet soup tropes. You'd have to install those in EP first, and I don't see it working.

Dropped out when 7th ed came out because I couldn't afford it, but I still have ~3000 points of tau lying about. Is there any point getting back into the game or has GW reached the end times? Absolutely loved 6th ed and I miss the satisfaction of a game

It's the same shit. Also, tau are now ridiculously easy to break and make OP without allying
>>

It's still going strong. As with any game, it just depends on whether or not your attitude about it has changed. Doesn't seem like it has, though. So for you it is probably not worth it to get back in.

What was Ork technology like before humans became a space faring race?

Did they still have trucks, guns, bombers and so many things analogus to human technology? Or would their tech have been influenced far more common and nearby Eldar or Necron whom they would have had much more experience fighting and looting.

Furthermore, their language is distinctly similar to Gothic including several words and names which directly mimic Gothic language (such as captain "Bludd Flag" or words like "Trukks", "shootas", and "axes" being referred to verbatim by both Orks and humans). Somehow Gothic creeped its way into Orkish language, what reason would there be for that.

At one time the eldar were the biggest space fairing race.

Now it is the Humans.

Soon the tyranids, so expect looted carnifexes and bio space fist shooters to be more common place amongst the orks.
>>
>>44580102
We're already getting some of that in the Octarius war.

I wonder if the Orks will start taunting the Tyranids in gutteral shouts and roars.
>>
You know why

>Because it's a made up setting, that reflects >our society, or parts of it.

>Because it's cool

>Because no one want to read a codex or ork story that is unreadable because they use their own fucking growling language

Anybody got some custom or fancy gaming tables they want to share? I'm looking for inspiration.

Right now I'm taking of integrating some HD TV/Monitors into one because ITS THE GOD DAMNED FUTURE HRRRNG- but occulus rift will cost 500+$ per person and require real programming so fuck waiting for that. Maybe rear projection instead but the material for a clear image that close to the screen is about as expensive as using HD screens in the first place.

Landscapes, gameboards, maps, portraits, etc.

Anything from a grid to a landscape, as needed.

Not having to print out grid maps, and just make them using convenient existing digital tools would be super convenient.

I just went the classic way:

I bought $20 6x6 sheet of weather resistant placstic sideing at home depot.

It is literally white bored material. I just cut it to the shape of a table I had, added 1'" indent for easy grids if the need arrises.

All in all it took maybe 3 hours, some patience, and I basically have a huge gaming board that can take spills like a champ.

I've been looking for board games that don't actively pit the players against each other, but rather put them together to fight a common goal. I've played a few board games like this, like Pandemic, but I was wondering what games you've all been playing that are cooperative.

This is but one of the many legends told among the people...

But who are your people?
Are you Tajil, hailing from the northern deserts and twin oasis?

Or Perhaps you are a sturdy Maroner, heir to the great forest and mighty rivers?

Although you can easily be Ikujin, keepers of the mountain pass and the masters of the sea.
Which one of these three?

(you have 5 minutes to choose, folks)

So some recent writefaggotry of mine is dealing with the Ordo Sicarius, and I was wondering if any of you have used the minor ordos in any of your games or fanfluff. Seen plenty of alien hunters, daemon hunters, and witch hunters. But what about man hunters, zombie hunters, robot hunters, time cops, and all the other little groups that make up the obscure rungs of the Inquisition?

I'm actually budgeting for a new Militarum Tempestus army. Fluffwise they'll be the henchmen for a radical Inquisitor of the Ordo Astartes, who believes that the best way to oversee Space Marine chapters is through violent action.
>>
>>44581194

A black ops unit specifically for hunting down rogue super soldiers? Hmmm where have I heard of that before.
>>
>>44577778
I once started writing a series of short stories about an agent for the Ordo Sepulturum (zombie hunters) - I envisioned them as 50% Inquisitorial agency, 50% intergalactic doctors without borders.

I feel like that would be an interesting way to run them in Dark Heresy, not so much as kitted out 'zombie hunters' but as though they were the CDC: spending most of their time chasing rumours of new diseases, investigating each new outbreak, hoping they wont prove to be a warp-engineered viruses, and always on the lookout for the dreaded zombie plague.
