I rolled a 3, and am going to purchase a house on the square I landed on.

Your move, /tg/.

Man, black magic in the Middle Ages was pretty weird.

>“Have you done as certain women are said to do? They take a live fish and place it in their private parts until it is dead, then serve it boiled or roasted to their husbands. They do this in order to increase the husband’s ardour for them.”

...

>“Have you ever made little toys, or toy bows, or small tools, and placed them in the cellar or in the storeroom, so that goblins and demons can play with them there, and will then be favourable to you in other things?”

...

>“Have you believed what some women are wont to believe, that in the stillness of a quiet night while your doors are shut, you along with other minions of the devil rise up into the sky all the way to the clouds and fight there with others, and that you wound them and they wound you?”

Yeah! Yeah, that's TOTALLY what my collection of plastic miniatures is for.

I'm not weird. I'm just entertaining the goblins and demons.

How does something like this even propagate? Even the devil would have a hard time convincing people this was a good idea.

Since /sci/ couldn't help me, I figured I'd ask the one other place that might be able to help me with dice.

Simply put, I am trying to write a program that can give me the probabilities when rolling any number of arbitrarily-sided dice. So what's the likelyhood of rolling 10+ on 3d6 versus 7+ on 3d3 versus 14+ on 4d5

Problem is, I'm having trouble with the generating function.

To find the probabilities of rolling any number on the dice, you of course can count up the number of ways to get that number, and divide by the total number of dice possibilites, so there's only 1 way to get a 2 when rolling 2d6, and there are 36 combinations (6^2), so the probability of rolling 2 is 1/36.

But with more than 2 dice it gets impossible to simply list out the possible combinations. I've tried using the generating function shown here
http://www.wikihow.com/Calculate-Multiple-Dice-Probabilities
But I don't understand how the function works

This is the generating function they use, but what do I do with this function? What is the x variable used for? Do I set this equation equal to x^k, do I set it equal to anything?

> #1 treat your players like a politcal party with guerilla training. Brainless, yet surprisingly cunning.
>#2 Decide which source material can be used, by designing your map first. You'd be surprised how angry players get when they realise that their wings will be as useful as a 40ft rope, since the campaign is in the underdark.
>#3 Read their character sheets. You'll learn more about the games rules from arguing with your players on how powers work, than reading any amount of DM's guides.
>#4 Your dungeons are only as smart as your dumbest player. If there's no way through a puzzle, they will find a way to make one. To that effect, never put anything of plot importance behind a pegboard, only gold and loot.
>#5 gold is just loot that the players havn't found a way to abuse yet.
>#6 There's no such thing as an "imtimidating goblin". Your players don't care how much time you spent setting him up as the BBEG, he needs to be at least an Ogre for it to count.

Shall I continue to be dry and unamusing?

>#7 A player who says "can I" already knows the answer is no, don't try to surprise them.
>#8 A player who says "I can" is on the path to being the next DM, nourish this and take your rightful place as their nuisance player.
>#9 Rope and fire is a players WD40 and duct tape. Deny access to these at all costs.
>#10 Any problem that a player could solve by interacting with normally will be attacked. Even the rotting "rope and wooden plank" door will be attacked with fire. Laugh when the attack misses.
>#11 Your players don't hate you, but they hate everything you built. Don't take it personally when your players kill the entire town just because it had a light were-rat infestation.
>>
>#12 a land base campaign will still manage to involve ships or sea-monsters. A sea-faring campaign will see your players plant their asses firmly in the desert. Circumvent this by placing them in a desert island. They will immediately find their way into the underdark.
>#12 a player that wishes to chronicle the campaign is not trying to help, he's trying to put words in your mouth, and catch your plotholes.
>#13 a player that wants to draw maps is looking to get dungeon pre-views.
>#14 a player that wants to take inventories is looking to add loot to their sheets
>#15 if a mechanic adds to your workload, ignore it. It's not worth giving the players one more thing for them to expect you to track. Encumberment is the worst of these.
>#16 hunting is only ever allowed to keep the players alive, never let them set up a business. Put poaching laws in place to prevent this.
>#17 a player who has tasted the blood of the hunt will inevitably move on from hunting beasts, to hunting townsfolk.
>#18 an evil campaign is harder to run than a good one. There will be more debates about what is amoral (and therefore allowed) than any time a paladin considering if slaughtering the hunter-turned-werewolf will make him fall.
>>
>#19 Months and years is a good way to make your players aware of time. And increase your workload threefold when your players demand to know what happened in the three months of winter you just skipped.
>#20 Keep to standard names. The utter confusion as you try to pronounce "Garbolous" is not worth the immersion. The same goes for naming months, years, and places.
>#21 When a player make a character, they will do everything except give you plot-hooks and personality. Feel free to retroactively add these yourself.
>#22 A career in sales will train you to manipulate your players into actually play the game. It will not stop them from doing everything in their power to do everything else at the same time. For this reason, phones, tvs, computers, books and lint are all forbidden from the table.

I want to get fetchlands but I know the Zendikar ones are unlikely to hold value once reprinted (if they do). Would it be smarter to get expeditions if I am concerned about my card holding value? Btw I wouldn't be buying either of these I have a ridiculous excess of points on pucatrade.

I'm interested as well. Found pic in a card pack a little by ago and I'm concerned if it will hold value for any length of time.
>>
So the reason why the expeditions are worth so much has little to do with their reprint chances.

It's because they're played in Eternal formats in tier 1 decks while being difficult to obtain. Polluted Delta was reprinted last year and it is one of the most expensive expeditions because it is heavily played.
>>
>>44713015
They're fetchlands. They are fucking eternal. Get the cheapest ones you can get and a set of all of them and you never have to worry about one major factor of a lot of older formats.

You should be able to solve this.

The other day I started a thread asking for tactical maps that could work for a STALKER game. While some anon were very helpful, and I thank them, I wasn't seeing exactly what I wanted. So I made my own.

This image and the next two are screenshots taken in the STALKER games by using the demo_record console command, a FOV changer mod (fov set to 15-20), and with some alterations in GIMP.

The grid is mostly there for a reference as these maps are intended for a Savage Worlds game (which primarily uses inches). I did not set the grid to a specific measurement, so printing these or using them in other programs may not produce exact 1" squares.

Anyway, thought you guys might like them!
Also tactical battle maps, general?

Really? Can we not get worked up over what is obviously an honestly understandable design decision and minor oversight?

And at the end of the day, it's Hasbro, Star Wars, and Monopoly. I have better reasons to be upset at Hasbro, and who honestly cares this much about Monopoly anymore.
