Which is the best vendor to buy proxy/counterfeit mtg cards ?
Want to play some modern tournaments without buying 1500$ worth of cards. (looking at you fucking tarmogoyf)
Thanks

>proxy
An important clarification: Proxy cards are substitute cards created solely by judges in sanctioned tournaments. These substitutes are allowed when authorized game cards become unplayable during a sanctioned tournament because of damage or excessive wear. Unauthorized reproductions of our game are a type of counterfeit, and we want business partners to help us in discouraging counterfeit Magic.

I said proxy because that's the way those counterfeit vendors call them

Okay, so I have a dilemma.

There's this girl. She's funny and cute and nerdy and I'm seriously considering marrying her.

Her folks fell into that whole "D&D is satanic" 1970's garbage, so she's never played, even though her brother was in a Shadowrun game I ran back in high school.

Anywho, I mentioned Changeling to her and said it'd be right up her alley (She likes dark stuff, horror, animal people, that sort of thing) and she said she'd like to try it, at least once.

So she also likes the 1920's, I was thinking about incorporating that into the game, too.
Anyway, finally getting to my point, I need advice, /tg/. Whether or not this is a good idea, and if so, what information can you give me about city life in the Roaring 20s?

TL;DR: I need advice for a 1920's Changeling game for my Girlfriend's first game.

The Call of Cthulhu Investigator's Handbook from earlier editions had the most comprehensive description of 1920s living.

In general CoC has the most detail on this era as it's the default setting.

Odds are, you'll be getting many things wrong even if you do your best to cram about the Roaring 20's in short order. At best, it will be an amateurish attempt she'll see right through. Just GM Changeling as you know best, man. Better yet, coach her in GMing the 20's game if she likes tabletop RPGs, if you want to bond over that.

So fa/tg/uys, I was playing through KoToR once more and something suddenly hit me. It was during a part where the game had quite clearly laid a plot point out for me, involving some 'Odor', a 'corpse pile', a 'frag grenade' and a violently hungry Rancor.

Me being the player, genuinely missed out on these obvious hints, got my Rogue friend to stealth it up and plant mines everywhere to which I shot the Rancor and had it chase her while she led it through an explosive death trap.

This is when I realised I wasn't just playing a tabletop game on a digital platform, it was that the characters therein where players. All of them and here is my theory for each of them:

Main Character

This player just got into tabletop, his partner has been doing it a while and he wasn't allowed to play a game without her so he agreed to join her group. Knowing it was his first game, GM decides to do something a little special for him, lets him have visions, make choices that determine certain aspects of the story. This guy isn't too bothered, he's just having a good time playing.

Carth Onasai

This guy is THE roleplayer of the group. Backstories that are novel length, dealing with betrayal and hurt but still trying so hard to be a good guy. Almost Shakespearean... if it wasn't for the fact that when everyone else is having a good time, he's trying to ram some preachy message into the story or to the table via his character.

Mission & Big Z

The lovable RP duo, best buds and people aren't sure if the players themselves are in a relationship together or not. They're the players who just enjoy a good laugh and know not to take RP too seriously, they'll invest in the story but know how to take things lightly.

>to be cont...

>>
>...cont

Bastilla

The Main Player's spouse. She has been RPing for so long that she feels she knows everything and tries to lead the group to her decisions as she seems to think she know's best even though at this game everyone is trying to make sure the Main is having a good time seeing as it's first RP experience. She can't have that, she has to be in the limelight, SHE has to be the most important one and throws the most hissy fit of all hissy fits to try and get her way, heck the GM just goes with this and she can't believe she has to be responsible for her actions so on the story goes.

T3-M8

This guy, is the one at every RP but he doesn't RP much... more of a skill monkey and there for the fat loots more than anything, prefers to 'roll-play' instead of 'roleplay' but he doesn't bother anyone and hearing him beep and boop at the table can actually be pretty humorous.

Canderous

So here we have the wish-fufilment, this is the guy who hasn't always been the most popular and probably rejected more times than not, but here in RP land? He decides to be the most bad-ass merciless gun-totin mercenary there is... unfortunately he just comes across as a bit of a dick and you can't call him out on it because you know he'll just whine about 'thats my character!' so you all leave him to it. Though having him and the 'Bastilla' character interact can provide quality entertainment.

HK-47

This is the guy who brings the beers and the snacks, he enjoys hanging out with his mates and doesn't overall know how to RP much but he's social enough that he picks it up fairly quickly. He decides to just have a right laugh, he isn't overly invested in the story, he just wants to have a good time with his mates. So here he is, making the most evil and ridiculous character there is, but he allowed himself one rule... he HAS to follow orders so he doesn't ruin the game for anyone else, so instead of shooting up all the orphans he just smacks talk everything and anything he sees.
>>
Just my observation of these characters and what their players might be like, so /tg/, my question to you. Have you ever played a game, read a book or watched a movie/show and thought to yourself what the players would be like if the media you were engrossed in was a tabletop RP?

Do tell if any such ideas have came to you!
>>
I actually really like this idea, OP. Not a complete faggot for once. Screencapped if anyone's interested.

I'm gonna do a twist on this and break down the major Fire Emblem protagonists as PCs.

So we just started a new campaign and there's already some conflict (which is fine by me, I hate when six strangers get together and are suddenly best friends). Basically the party's cleric and the party's ranger are in a bit of a tiff, and the cleric won't drop it. The ranger player seems not to care (the ranger character is annoyed but won't keep stirring the pot), a few of the players and the DM are getting irritated by it.

Basically it boils down thusly:

The characters met up for the first time in a tavern (classic start up) and got to know one another a little. The ranger left to take care of ranger business (as rangers are wont to do) and everyone else continued getting along.

Ranger rides east to the village of Drellin's Ferry and meets with his bossman, a Druid named Avarthel. While conversing with the Druid, the ranger learns that a great host of hobgoblins is marching into the region. The ranger proceeds to have a trippy vision about Tiamat entering the mortal realm and destroying 80% of humanity and enslaving the other 20%.

The ranger, understandably spooked, returns to the tavern to speak with its owner, who is a bit of a local legend, retired adventurer, and possible brass dragon in disguise. During this exchange, the cleric apparently mentioned something about everyone sharing anything they know about this horde and the ranger kept his vision secret. (This is the crux of the issue)

>>
>>44748725

So the party travels east to Drellin's Ferry together and defeats a hobgoblin ambush on their way. The ranger leads (well, more like he doesn't stop the party from going) to Avarthel, who then shares the vision with the entire party.

Now the cleric doesn't trust the ranger for "keeping secrets" and the two characters more or less won't talk to one another. The ranger player is fine with it, the cleric player is starting to whine to the DM, and at least another player is getting annoyed by it. The DM, to his credit, is keeping everyone in line and is even trying to use RP to bring cleric player around.

But ultimately, what do?

Also share facepalm worthy moments in campaigns.
>>
>>44748739
Turn to the cleric and ask him a dumb question.

"Hey Mr. Heals man, want to hear about this dream I had last night? You weren't in it or anything."

Then tell him about a suitably dream-logic non-story about how there was a Circuis made of meat and the acrobat would die in water, but he had to take his father's mind to grow huge.

And he'll probably check out half way through.

Ask him if he cared about your dreams.

If his answer is "no", then ask him why he cared about the ranger's dream so damn much.

Boris Borovich sprints across the finish line. He begins celebrating.
"Ha! Brock Eagleson, you have failed! Now the president's daughter is mine to wed by right of conquest!"
Brock Eagleson approaches Boris calmly at an even pace. When he draws close enough, he punches Boris hard with his robotic hand. Teeth fly everywhere and Boris falls to the ground.
"What is this? I challenged you to...*cough*...a fair race!"
"You forgot one thing, you commie freak." Brock lights a cigarette as one of his attractive female assistants wraps him in an American flag towel.
"These colors don't run."
Brock stomps downwards at the "camera", which cuts to black.

New player here, in fact everyone in the group are new players.

I want to build machines using the animated objects/constructs and have fun mixing them with bag of holding/immovable rod, seems like I should choose artificer but the internet sources don't explain well how to go for the machines. We are gonna start with 4th edition since this is what we had at the moment but we might update to 5th later. but when I search seems like most sources are about 3.0 or 3.5.

Any help?

How do I make an awesome punk-rocker bard in a medieval fantasy (read: D&D or regional variant) setting without being silly, the comedy character or just plain out of place?

I really wanna play an anarchist rabblerouser and troublemaker who instigates the common folk to stand up against their betters and stuff while still kicking ass in combat and having epic rock-offs against enemy bards or sirens or what have you.

Bonus points if they use a violin.

Bonus bonus points if you can make the character female without being fetishbait.

sounds pretty straightforward desu

I would do it like this:
>daughter of a wealthy but minor noble family

>brings her family great honor with her growing talent and fame
>her beauty and nimble fingers attract the attention of a lecherous old nobleman during a concert
>by the time she gets off stage the parents have already married her off
>runs away with her instrument in the night, cuts off all her hair, and changes her clothing so she can't be found (cue punk rock music montage)
>spends the rest of her life adventuring and playing music for her daily bread

Khorne_Berserker_by_tacticangel.jpg
309KB, 1000x1274px
So I was thinking about this:

Khorne is the Chaos God of rage, war, blood, anger, courage, honor, carnage, violence, and anything that goes into there.

Yet apart of these elements, Khorne came up with every single tactic imaginable, so he would not only be the patron of warriors, but also patron of leaders, generals and everyone who combines all the other things he's associated with along with leadership and tactical/strategic thinking.

Case: Egil Styrbjorn from Warhammer Fantasy.

Guy's a Norscan dedicated to Khorne, yet he literally massacred and trolled Bretonnians not with the typical Khorne way of brains and brawn, but put more emphasis on brains when he fought them on the battlefield. By simply utilizing simple tactics (which the Brets did not use because muh honor or were oblivious to them), he and his men were responsible for horrid amounts of casualties among them.

The other are those 40K Khornates who utilize tactics to maximize the blood-spilling and skull-taking. But is there a warband that plans its slaughter in a tactical way to quickly and efficiently defeat their enemies in order to please Khorne in the most satisfying way imaginable while trying to avoid too much of their own blood being shed (say they suffered too much casualties and they were forced to be less reckless)?

Hounds of Abaddon marines from the Black Legion maybe

The Sanctified maybe

idk brazen beasts use a lot of daemon engines

Overall, not really. Lots of chapters in 40k dedicated to khorne seem to wipe themselves out and leave daemons in their place.

>Yet apart of these elements, Khorne came up with every single tactic imaginable, so he would not only be the patron of warriors, but also patron of leaders, generals and everyone who combines all the other things he's associated with along with leadership and tactical/strategic thinking.

War was a thing long, long before Khorne was born OP. Khorne is a manifestation of rage, hatred, bloodlust and martial pursuits, brought into existence by the minds of mortals with any sort of psychic sensitivity.

However, saying that, he's also shown to be a master of martial strategy in his purest form (see: Daemons), it's not his fault if his mortal servants can't handle direct injections of rage-induced Immaterial energies.
>>
>>44747266
>>44747305
Darn. And I thought that there would be actually a Khornate Warband that would focus to much greater degrees on tactics and using both their skills and what they have in the smartest ways possible while being led by a Chaos Lord that wants to become a personification of Khorne's tactical capabilities and leadership (like a Khornate Creed).

It's playable and not an unbalanced mess, though anything beyond that will largely depend on how much you like 40k, since that's where most of the fluff is drawn from.

So, in the absense of /hbg/, I have a project in mind. I looked around the internet for an Avatar roleplay, but only turned up circlejerk online RP boards. If one does actually exist then of course this post is irrelevant, but if there's honestly nothing then I was wondering if there's enough of an interest in the universe to grab some people to help write up some rules. Timeline could be Aang or Korra, or both, or something completely new.

If there are some anons who would be interested in the idea, let me know. It could be pretty good if we kept the autism to a minimum.

>>
>>44744784
I like 4e, and using 4e for Avatar, but the version that>>44745124 mentions is not great in my opinion. I've had more success by simply using some of the common feat-tax-aleviating house rules, then adding one feat for each elemental bending.
>Earthbending: whenever you use an attack power, you may change the damage type to force, and add the force keyword.

Firebending: whenever you use an attack power, you may change the damage type to Fire, and add the Fire keyword.

Airbending: whenever you use an attack power, you may change the damage type to Thunder, and add the Thunder keyword.

>Waterbending: whenever you use an attack power, you may change the damage type to cold, and add the cold keyword.

Start adding secondary feats for firebending-lightning, bloodbending (thought that might be better as a paragon path,) water-heal-bending, metalbending etc. Only The Avatar can take all 4 feats, though they have to take (or GM fiat earn) each feat separately.

I don't like the idea that all earthbenders must be defenders, all airbenders must be controllers, all firebenders must be strikers, and all waterbenders must be leaders. What about all of those armored firebending soldiers? What about... well... Toph, isn't she a Earthbender striker? Etc. With the level of abstraction/refluff normal to 4e, having bending be a free and optional "tack your elemtal type onto an attack power, and get to refluff it as bending" seems to work just fine.
