Mistress puts on a self-amused grin as she prances confidently to my side. "Now, let's see how your work turned out!" She chirps happily as she gazes into the cauldron.
She spends a few moments like this, occasionally shifting her gaze to stare me dead in the eyes for just long enough to cause drops of sweat to creep down my forehead. Still, I put on a confident gaze. Looking confident about your work is half the sale, Papa always says!
"Adequate." She finally states blankly. Not much of a sale, huh?
"You can tell just by looking? We're not going to test it or something?"
"No, Nadja, as much fun as it may be to let you test potions on yourself, I really am not interested in watching you spend the rest of the day emptying your bowels." She retorts, laughing to herself.
"Waaah- I didn't mean on me!" I immediately feel heat rising in my cheeks. Why would she say such a bad thing and think it's funny? "And why would you be WATCHING?"
"Jokes aside," she continues, disregarding me completely. "Your work is adequate for an initiate. That means you should be perfectly capable of learning any recipe in my library of similar difficulty. I'll mark the ones I consider you prepared for with a blue note so that you may study on your own time."
"On that note," she turns away in a single sharp move, scanning the shelves of books for something or other. "I have preparations to make for your Initiation."
"Initiation? I already did that! Why do I have to do it again? I didn't cheat or anything!"
"You performed your Rite, yes. But we still need to- Aha!" She grabs a particularly heavy-looking book, bound in a deep purple cover and adorned with a golden star on the front. "-to introduce you the Elders of the Coven."
"Elders? Who's that?"
Mistress glances out the window toward the sky, then nods to herself. "Well, we have a fair bit of day left to burn, so we may as well cover this now. It won't do for you to be ignorant of the Coven for long."
"That is, after you clean up."
>>46117006
"Now," she begins the moment I enter the room. "First we should talk about the Coven. Essentially, the Coven is where decisions are made that affect the rest of us. The Coven was founded not long after the Exodus to the New World to organize the few remaining witches. Those ten agreed to gather twice a year and to spread their Wisdom to only the worthy. We call them the Elders. Entirely out of respect of course, and not because most of them are older than the Empire itself." She seems terribly amused by her own remark, even though it seems wrong to talk that way about your elders.
"Wow!" I try to hide my disapproval. "Even older than the Empire?"
"Mhmmm." She nods. "Of course a few of them have been replaced as they died off or disappeared over the centuries, but the rest actually grew up in the Old World. And, as I'm sure you can imagine, they're all horribly stubborn."
She's doing it again!
"So anyway, each Elder is the head of her own Circle, which includes every witch she has trained and the witches they trained, and so on. Ours would be the Circle of Redwing, my old teacher. The next step of your initiation is to meet each of the Elders, so they may inform their Circles of your adoption into our ranks."
"So... I don't have to do anything dangerous?"
"Only to meet the judging eyes of the old crones. Not to pressure you or anything, but the impression you make on them will reflect on what they tell every witch on the continent about you..."
"Oh." That's... not so bad... I can handle that, right?
"Also you need to decide on your witch name."
Name? Oh no! "I have to come up with a name now?!?" I'm not ready for this at all! No no no!
"You have until tomorrow, actually." She says as she tries to suppress her malicious laugh.
"And with that, today's lesson is at an end. I suggest you spend the rest of the day preparing yourself. Now, get lost and leave me to my work!"

Let's start it off with a question: if anyone's familiar with M&M 3e and knows how illusions work, please lend me your ear... when you play with a PL6 character, what's the max rank you can put on your illusion effects? It seems a little bit OP that one can give someone else the illusion of damage with a rank of +10, without giving them the opportunity to have an active defense ability but just a will save...
M&M is broken as fuck, though I'm sure you'll find a veteran round here to answer your question.
And you should use SPURG instead.
>>46116636
I'm pretty sure most powers that have a point value are pretty much limited to PL at all times (especially if they target... resist and attack rolls are always capped by PL). So if the illusion you want has a save (or had a save you eliminated with an extra), it's capped.

Why oh God
Okay guys. Here it is:
We have a very generic high fantasy setting with a lot of player world building. If you want it, you'll get it. Mostly. We have very decent players so it won't end up in erp or magical realms.
We have no pantheon of gods. If we need one we build it together. We have an underworld were souls of the dead go and the Reaper as the "guardian" or god of death. The very common picture of it. Black robe, bleak skull, scythe. To make it a little more interessting she's a very polite woman. The personification of death (duh) but also mercilessness, mortality and finality. She's not really decadent or gleeful. She just IS. A little of Pratchetts DEATH (THERE IS NO JUSTICE. THERE IS JUST ME.) and Marvels Death. It's also common for her to make deals with unnaturally dying mortals to sent them back. "Kill ten innocent people until the next full moon." "Build a shrine in my honour." She doesn't do that out of mercy. More out of... boredom idk. She doesn't interfere with the mortal realm directly, only through deals. But she realise that there is a natural order and she can't sent warlords and mass muderers back again and again to kill everyone.
Now the opinion part:
I thought of a paladin of her as my next character. An undead. We have no alignment restrictions for paladins as DnD and the char wouldn't be by no means "good" but by all means "lawful". In a way it would be a very martial heavy cleric with the death domain and little magic. The best way to describe it is he's a devoted paladin of Death.
Pic related.
Also I would also like to see more undead paladin or fighter character art.
So, is this an interesting char concept or is it just to edgy in your eyes?
How about: Death actually hates necromancy and any undead she didn't create herself. necromancer-hunting is therefor one of her paladins top duties.

>How about: Death actually hates necromancy and any undead she didn't create herself. necromancer-hunting is therefor one of her paladins top duties.
Of course. As I said: very generic fantasy. Every second accounter is versus undead or practicer of dark arts.

I IZ A MASTERFUL PRAKTISHUNNER OF DA ARCANE AND ALSO A WEEDY ELFBOY
Met a guy once whose character seemed pretty magical realmy. His deal was that his character could revive the recently dead by inserting construct attributes into their bodies, causing them to rise and regain some of their former sentience. He'd then proceed to schmooze them a bit and win their affections while showing them what their new bodies were capable of. I thought magical realm was the only motivation behind this until...apparently he accidentally wrote down his class as "Mechromancer" and wound up rolling with it... I gotta admit I couldn't think of a better play on words.
So anything interesting happen to you recently in the tabletop gaming world, /tg/?

Can a woman with 2 charisma be intimidating?
>>46108122
Most things which can kill you can be intimidating in the right circumstance
That depends. I sometimes let my players use a strength modifier for intimidate rolls, because it never made sense to me that seven foot tall mountain of muscle barbarian who had 8 charisma can't intimidate a random guard.
I guess if she's doing something dangerous enough, but probably not without basically just being about to attack someone
So what would your favourite RPG to play in an ideal world? With the magic number of excellent players, each of whom are the perfect balance (for your tastes) as far as RPing and mechanics go, as well as a master DM who always has engaging storylines and likeable NPCs but still gives you plenty of room to free form?
And then what is your favourite RPG for playing in the real world, with your average flawed but not completely hopeless players and DMs?
>>46107630FATAL
Nah, I kid. I don't really have a personal favorite game, because I've got a large number under my belt and a group that's willing to just not show up to games they don't like, meaning that I get between 8 to 4 people depending on the game, so I can't really count on anything.
I'm running Degenesis and it's cool so far. One of our two only really clever players is playing a stupid Anabaptist (and pulling it off very well), and the other is playing a Neolibyan (and getting dumps taken on him by everyone else on account of not being at all into combat and having waaay too much money for his own good).

Fate Core and GUMSHOE are the only systems I care about anymore, though I'm itching to give Dramasystem and Powered By The Apocalypse a shot.

What do you think of Delta Green /tg/?
I recall that they are a rogue group with a checkered history after a catastrophe in Vietnam - was that ever fluffed out? Thanks.
>>46107410
Neat premise.
Personally I don't care for 90% of the fluff, but I enjoy the premise of a grand cell structured conspiracy trying to save the world from threats they don't wholly understand, and leveraging official connections to do shady shit.
>>46107410
Personally I like it. The organisation's history is fluffed out in a few of the other sourcebooks, and the post-9-11 history I think is being updated since the new edition is in production.

This is all of the old sourcebooks.
I love DG and I'm really excited for the new stuff but every time I've tried to run it for my group things haven't really worked out too well. I always have a hard time organizing my thoughts to run a coherent mystery and explaining the high concept science stuff in most of the premade scenarios in a way that makes sense and my players don't seem to get the "misappropriate government funding to hide the evidence" aspect of the game. More often than not the sessions turn into them flailing around totally clueless until they get bored and go full murderhobo. It's a bummer that it's so hard to find people that play it, I feel like I'd get a better handle on how to run it if I spent some time as a player.
