What does /tg/ think of MYFAROG, the tabletop rpg from infamous murderer and black metal musician, Varg Vikernes?

Is it any good?
53 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
>>46235294
It's really not too good. Very heavily inserts political leanings of the author into the system, which a lot of /tg/ doesn't like, similar to Eclipse Phase.

Combat itself is very deadly, it's chock full of rules that bog the game down, takes ages to do things.

Overall not really a fantastic system.
>>
>>46235397
I guess I got my answer then. Was it really that bad? I honestly had no opinion on it, and had never given much thought to tabletops at all until I saw that one of /mu/'s favorite musicians had made one.

I couldn't tell you the difference between a dark elf and a slaneesh, I'm that new, so it was no deliberate trolling on my part.
>>
>>46235498
Assuming you're bing honest, the short version is that the system is pretty weak mechanically. The long version is that the system is weak mechanically AND it's basically a soapbox for the author's political views, some of which border on "WHITE MASTER RACE, KILL ALL THE MUD-PEOPLES!" at times.

Has there ever been a false god in your setting with a large following?

Pretty much the entire Dragon Civilization was made of false gods. Their human slaves were ordered to worship them, blah blah... Pretty shitty stuff because dragons in the setting tend to be assholes.

Luckly, their civilization has long collapsed.

When have your players done something that just made you just plain happy with their shenanigans.

>Players come into a rectangular room with very small outcroppings under the door they're standing in and a rickety plank connected to a couple pieces of floor that's still standing.
>Across the room is a large door with an ornate keyhole on it.
>Rest of the room is filled with pits that are so deep you can't see into them.
>on one pillar is a skeleton with a humongous pile of rocks and a key around its neck.
>They take turns walking across these planks
>the skeleton throws rocks at them and every time it clicks and clacks in mock laughter
>they get pissed off and start yelling at it
>it makes "KNACK KNACK KNACK KNACK" mock laughter and does monkey dances at them
>they keep yelling at it and eventually the barbarian throws his shield at it
>it bounces off an invisible barrier and the skeleton manages to catch it
>it starts dancing with its new toy and the barbarian is officially pissed
>the wizard tries to cast fireball but it hits the barrier and does nothing
>the team throws multiple items at it, losing most of them into the pit
>the skeleton is pelting them with rocks the whole time and laughing
>they finally get tired of it and get to the locked door
>it's not locked at all
>barbarian throws his sword and has to deal with using a rock he caught as his weapon.

>A random wizard is making dosh by casting fly on children to entertain them
>The magus decide to dispel the fly spell (kids are just flying above the head of people, so it won't hurt them much, but the wizard will lose his job)
>One of the PC wants to take advantage of this by catching a falling child (he is neutral)

Well first I drink a bit before every session so I can tolerate the kind of players such a game would attract.

"What're we going to do on the bed, boss?"

----

You thrash to life, fighting the confining feeling all around you. These actions lead to familiar bursting action and scream.

It is a childish scream, and distantly you feel embarrassed.

It is still stunningly dark and warm, but your surroundings are now cavernous.

"Ah, zhere zhere little one. Mutter ist heeeere," a large woman answers your call. "Everyzing ist all right. Come to mutter."

She is giant and matronly, and you cannot help but be calmed as she scoops your infantile form into her massive arms.

"Vhat should ve call you?"

You stumble groggily along the corridor and rub the sleep from your eyes. The mansion is in an uproar and everyone else besides you seems to have somewhere to be. People bustle past you and you watch as the place steadily empties.
It’s going to take a few hours to get moving but Hiss was serious when she woke you up. She’s moving everyone out. You suppose that’ll include you too.

Mobilizing an army isn’t something you can do lightly however. You still have plenty of time.

Welcome one, and I welcome you all to the tale of a world called Thespia.

Here is the odyssey of one that clings to this world with no face of their own! In a place where magic is fundamental to all of creation, all who live wear their lives upon their face, where a fire might wish to be the cooking fire of an inn!

The Faceless overcame the tyrant lord of Bikel, Stephan Grant, son of Mikael Grant. Thus, while wearing the face of the vengeful spirit "The Reaper of Aurel" otherwise known as Dramir, a story in the world of Thespia comes to an end as a hero arrives to deliver the accursed Guisi from their fates of enslavement and labor.

Yet despite this success, a shadow of doubt looms upon the horizon as the Reaper claimed victory from Lord Grant whilst in his Arche's true form, a secret kept by the Guisi at all costs for fear of true persecution at the hands of other Thespians.

Yet the curtain has closed upon that story and a sibling pair grow restless as they hear the whispers of the Guisi elders and their intent to make the Reaper disappear to ensure that there are no loose ends.

"We will not see our work undone."

The threads of a monster unravel and rejoin with the great weave that is Thespia, flowing back into her primordial womb, the monster ceases to exist in this world. Burned, Flayed, stabbed, and finally torn to ribbons once it exhausted its many lives tearing itself apart. The Beast is dead.

As you lay upon the forest floor, you feel the many voices of that monster's threads calling out in a harmonious requiem. The thespians that were devoured, and even the wolves that ate them can now rest. Sucking in a crisp breath of the night's air, you breath out with a deep smile in your face from ear to ear, relieved that it's over.

Odette looks on as the monster's body rapidly decomposes. Spared from the true extent of the battle that felt as though it raged for hours, she cannot know your relief or your triumph... And yet still...

“Did you see that person?” You ask, looking up at Odette from the ground.

She seems confused, furrowing her brow and looking around at the forest, “No... What person? There was someone else here?”

“Yes... They cast a spell and then vanished.” Without much more thought to the matter you roll your body back and spring off of your hands to get back on your feet. “Oh well, I just wish I could've thanked them.” Looking to her, “Did Biz return?”

“No,” Odette looks back and starts down the return path, you follow suit after her. “I saw the flames' glow through the trees. When I heard your call, I rushed here as quickly as I could. I'm just glad I wasn't too late.” Odette smiles at you and you feel a bit warm on the inside.

Snaking your fingers around her arm, you hold onto her arm with an affectionate touch,“So reliable Odette, what would I ever do without you?” You say with a teasing tongue, a mischievous twinkle in your eye.

Odette seems surprised by your gesture, pulling at first yet then relaxing into the touch, (“Sometimes I wonder more what I'd do without you.”) You hear through her true voice, yet her lips simply give you a gentle smile.
>>
>>46230306
You feel your face flush, and heart skip a beat, suddenly letting go. Something about this suddenly feeling wrong to you. Odette notices your troubled thoughts quickly when you stop walking.

“Beli? What's the matter?”

“I...” You look away, still blushing heavily. Your breath a little hot. “I'm not sure. It's nothing, let's get back to the village, okay?”

As you run ahead, Odette watches your back, her smile fading as she mulls over what could have possibly bothered you so.

[…]

By the break of Sol, all the rescued girls are returned to the village by those that are left: The older men and the widows. The wolf you told to bring back the Satire holds the pesky Faeli's foot in jaws, ensuring his captive's stay.

Once everyone's been given the all clear, the villagers gather in the long abandoned ground floor of their community square to give the meddlesome Faeli his judgement.

The beastman's eyes are riddled with worry, pleading with the normally kind eyes of every Arafleur he sees. A young lady stands besides Teraca, the spitting image of her mother. That must be Prescilla, you saw her sitting under the tree in that pocket dimension reading a book.

“Adventurer's.” Teraca calls over to your party, her lips pursed and stern. “You've given him to us to decide judgement... yet it is not in our way to deliver such punishments. I could not bear it upon my heart to do this myself.”

The Satire pulls at his foot locked in the wolf's jaws, reaching out for Teraca. “You, you're Teraca aren't you? It's me, Rumpy Frumpy! I... You... Gave me a crown of flowers, I've loved you from that day. Please, all of this was for you.”

“Be quiet!” Teraca screams, her entire body trembling as she stares at the half-man in contempt, “If I'm to understand by the adventurer's story, you deceived the wolves to spare your own life at the expense of ours. How am I ever supposed to forgive such a thing?”

In D&D 10 INT is the average for a farmer or barely educated peasant. What would a modern B average high school student be rated comparatively to that?

INT != knowlege
You can be dumb as a brick and get through school
You can be really smart and live a simple farmers life

10 INT.

Intelligence isn't what you know, it's how well you learn and apply information. An ignorant genius still has higher INT than a Jeopardy savant, because that savant can only apply his knowledge to a single purpose.

Where did this assumption come from? There's nothing in the rules that says that. IIRC 10 is just for anyone who's not a PC or otherwise important.

>Some idea on what's going on:
I had this idea of making a really complex and integrated story about Imperial factions after a major crusade. Considering the size of the galaxy a crusade must require thousands of regiments and hundreds of Chapters to conduct. Which also leaves them with spoils of war in the end. I could have just populate the whole thing from my drafts but I figured it would be more fun and challenging to fill the factions with anon made ones. So here we are.

>Disclaimers:
-I store all contributions and work them into the story one way or another, so don't hesitate to contribute.
-No Orks no ork related anything, I'm writing Orks right now and I'm fed with it. No zoggin Orkz, ya 'ear!
-Try to make the factions as unique as possible(it's YOUR faction after all). Theme, military focus and characterization is what makes a faction alive most of the time.
Here is an example from an official chapter. Black Templars are gothic space knights(theme), they use close combat whenever possible(military), special characters in the codex(charz)
-If you submitted in a previous thread know that its been kept safe.
-Post the HTML codes of your colors if you want an accurate representation, otherwise I pick the colors using gimp which might not be exact.
-Creator names for the factions cannot be changed after the first initialization, if you want to be added as a creator to an already made faction you need to contribute newer fluff almost as much as the OC. Even if the OC is credited as anon you can only be credited beside him. This is done to prevent miscrediting.

I hear a lot of differing information on space marines. Are they chemically castrated or not? Sometimes they seem totally focused on duty and ignore women, but then you have like the Space Wolves who save a city only to use all of the prostitutes for weeks and blueball the Guardsmen who held the line before they showed up.

What's the most polarizing thing you've done as a GM, /tg/? I'm not looking for strokes of brilliance, I'm not looking for stuff that was imbecilic, I'm looking for stuff that divided your playgroup down the middle, half thinking it was a great idea and half thinking it was a terrible one.

For me

>"Fast" random encounters.
>Instead of the random encounter spawning XdY enemies and bringing out the battlemaps and fighting it out, which drags things down, have a different setup.
>You roll on the table, you get an encounter
>Encounter will say something like "Two sand golems, lose 8/6/3/3 hp/fp, distributed randomly. Lose 2 potions. This much loot, this much experience.
>Modify for system, party composition, etc. as needed.
>Keeps things moving fast, while maintaining the "Tax on ability to stay in hostile environment"
>On the other hand, it really, really pisses some people off, especially how I deal damage or take items without tactical input from the players.

What are yours, anons? Pic unrelated.

>What's the most polarizing thing you've done as a GM
Run Star Wars. I've done it twice, and they were the two worst GMing experiences of my life, almost entirely based around everyone bickering constantly about what was cannon, what was not cannon, what was in the spirit of the movies, what violated that spirit, what was or wasn't part of the Jedi code, whether Jedi could wear armor, how much damage laser cannons did to ground targets, whether Yoda's species had a name, I mean, it was unbelievable.

I've gamed for years, dozens of systems and settings, and yet in two entirely different Star Wars games, years apart, using different systems, different plots, and different players, it was an absolute nightmare both times. People would not stop fighting about trivia, no one was happy with the way I chose to run the game either time, and both games collapsed after only a few sessions. It's sad to me, too, because there's nothing I'd rather run.
