What does /tg/ think about the fairly recent growth of "Oldhammer' throwback 80s - 90s style gaming?

yes
>>46373739
Could you elaborate on what games are throwbacks and what qualifies them as such?
>>46373739
That, and a dissatisfaction with the current style of play? Seems to be what's driving the old-school D&D movement, so I could see it also happening with Warhammer.

Ain't nothin' wrong with a good redemption/falling story.
What would you think of a Filcher Hidden Blade Unchained Rogue? What would you do to make such a character even better at stealing things?
No That Guy thread? Let's vent /tg/
>Starting new game
>Advertising for players
>Guy comes up.
>Wants to play a custom class
>Red flag waving
>Look over what this class is, named "The Ninja".
>It surprisingly isn't overtly weebish
>Basically a rogue.
>Except it has all these funny abilities about stealing things from people who "know, trust, or travel with the ninja", often with low level mind magic to make them forget they had the item in question to begin with.
>Ohfuckno.jpg.
>Starts whining and asking what's wrong with the idea, most of the abilities "aren't even that good".
>Tell him that that kind of player to player dickery isn't what I want at my table.
>He calls me a shit for trying to keep thief types from stealing. "It's what they do!"
>Goes over to other potential players and starts stage whispering about how much of a shit GM I must be, since I absolutely forbid any intraparty conflict, even when it's organic.
Where do these people come from?

PTU player here,
>Be gaming with group
>come across lake of magikarp
> that guy tells us it must be a major plot point
> we tell him its just a lake of fish
> 30 mins of arguing.jpeg
> eventually we give in and battle the magikarp
> levels 2-49
> oh fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
> we win after another 3 HOURS of battle...
> GM tells us its over for the night
LATER
> Get message from GM
> States that the player is demanding double XP for finding out the GMs plot point
> GM stats that it was just filler to fill out the world
> Player is pissed and demands to have the double XP still
> GM says no
> TFW our group is now divided over something stupid like this
>GM wont kick this guy because "muh friendship"
>Join a campaign that's already in progress
>Spend a few days before the session talking with the GM and some of the players over skype to hash out my backstory.
>End up playing a mage character from a city in the setting that's basically a city of academics and mages.
>Said character is, understandably, very loyal to the his city and the queen that rules it.
>Literally before the first session is over, the one player I didn't talk to decides he has some personal grudge against the Queen and mages in general (the GM literally gave him no reason to be enemies with her, the party had never even been in her city before now.)
>Player proceeds to guilt-trip me the entire time because I refuse to join him in a random attempt to assassinate her.
>Even after we get him released from prison by playing the thing off as a misunderstanding, he continues to guilt trip me for "trying to tear the party apart".
>Literally nobody else in the game wanted to be a part of this, but That Guy guilt-trips them relentlessly too, until they all eventually give in because they just wana play the fucking game.
>I eventually just leave because I don't wana be playing a game where one player's out-of-character whining is supposed to get my character to betray their homeland on one player's WTF RANDUMB whim.
2 sessions later another player quit for similar reasons, but fuck man, this seems to happen to me alot. I'm not sure if the problem is mine, and if I stick to being in-character too much, or if the problem is just that I get shitty players and/or GMs who don't know how to deal with them...
These kinds of people are why I'm terrified of trying D&D. I've always wanted to play a tabletop rpg but I'm worried my noobness will just be taken advantage of. Or worse, I end up as That Guy.
Looking for enforcer.

I am now accepting applications for /tg/ FUMBBL League III. There will be two divisions, as before.
In the Veterans league, as usual, this is completely open-weight to any returning /tg/ League teams (either from League I, League II or both), or anyone cuh-razee enough to want to enter a fresh team.
In the Rookies league, any coach may enter a fresh team, or a returning team from either previous /tg/ Leagues under 1200 Tournament Weight (which is different to Team Value).
As usual, players may only enter one team total.
To apply, PM me on FUMBBL (user: MauledByTheTigers), stating your Team Name and which division they want to play in. Apply your team to the group, and ensure they are READY TO PLAY if not already, so you'll have to roll any skills or buy new players first.
I've had a few PMs already, I'll check your applications and either ACCEPT or REJECT you.
Also, I will skullfuck any dropouts. They're a pain in the arse for everyone involved.
If you can't last ~6 weeks, don't apply. Stick to casual play.

Holos:
- more similar to camo
- in reactive turn can auto regen holoechoes if out of LoF
- can delay ARO against holoechoes, as they are markers
- this means the reactive troop can always shoot against the real mini, but takes a surprise shot
- you can choose to shoot one of the markers and avoid the surprise shot mod if you guess right
- Carlos is easier to understand then these fucking irish
- Holo1 same as N2, must be the same silhouette model from your own army
- Holo2 3 markers that all look like the mini
- Baldy needsto get his teeth fixed
- You can make duplicates of Holo1 projections, ie. Kotail as 3 Neema Sataar
- Holo3 is Patrocles only, doesnt have NFB

>Nobody cares about AoS what the fuck is GW thinking
> In his long life as a servant of the Blood God, Khârn has travelled the breadth of the galaxy, staining the ground of a thousand, thousand worlds red in honour of his murderous master. Though the Betrayer yearns for the destruction of the Imperium –- an obsession that Abaddon the Despoiler has used more than once to lure him into his army -– it is the taking of skulls that truly drives Khârn. Human heads are the most desirable, but any able opponent is a worthy offering to Khorne. Khârn has taken the lives of almost every kind of human, alien and daemon to walk the stars or dwell beneath them. Tyranid Swarmlords and Hive Tyrants, Necron Overlords, Eldar Autarchs and Ork Warbosses have all tasted the bite of Gorechild's teeth. Khârn knows that Khorne cares not from whence the blood flows, only that it does.
-WoTDM Kharn
So what's the difference between Tyranid Swarmlords and Hive Tyrants?
>>46367531
One is a swarmlord.
