Meanwhile Japanese Orcs are sex driven monsters, the Western Orc have near to zero interest on sex.
I think the orcs reflects what exactly the audience wants to see. Am I right?

Only Warhammer orks are sexless violence machines. Western orcs were usually considered rapacious savages (see the standard Half-Orc "unpleasant story" spiel), until it became viewed as too obvious of an analog with stereotypes about blacks.

It's Japan, they have different standards when it comes to selling sex. We generally like to keep our porn and our fiction more separate.

What settings are you talking about? I haven't seen much orc rape in my preferred fantasy franchises.

>What settings are you talking about? I haven't seen much orc rape in my preferred fantasy franchises.
The Orcs in DnD, and most other fantasy settings, really, are there pretty much to fulfill the stereotypical role of "barbarian raiders" (well, that and act as mooks in a vilalin's armies and as xp fodder for low- to midlevel adventurers): rapacious savages that pillage and burn civilized lands. Rape might not be directly mentioned, since that's not something people like bringing up, but it's implied. The standard backstory for hald-orcs is still "mom got raped by orcs", even if they don't usually say it so directly.

It's time to make a light-hearted adventure setting!

Nothing in this setting will be above the 50% grimdark mark.

I'll start:

>The BBEG is actually an unthinking force of nature that's been summoned here, and the PCs only have a short window after they discover its existence to prepare for its arrival. They don't know abut it right away.

How would the Protoss empire at it's height, fare in 40k?

They are:
>highly psychic, with an innate psionic connection with every other protoss, that is the cornerstone of their religion, the Khala.
>physically powerful; they stand taller than a man, and are both faster, and stronger than average human.
>technologically advanced; posses powerful energy and anti matter weaponry, along with plasma shielding, sophisticated cybernetic technologies, automated factories and robotics, near near instant teleportation, as well as means of manipulating the flow of time and space.
>strong warrior culture, where skill and valor in combat is valued above all. Their warriors will throw throw themselves at danger with no fear, due to their religious convictions, and firm belief that they shall be as one with all other protoss in the khala, even upon death.
>long lived, but slow to reproduce, which means that they place great value upon their soldiers. The Protoss warriors are assisted to battle by combat robots, and upon receiving mortal damage, a protoss warrior is teleported to the nearest safe hub, where he/she can receive medical aid. Even the ones who have received crippling injuries, can continue to fight in the form of a Dragoon exoskeleton.

Also, how would you stat their units, a zealot, for example?

Again

You cannot compared Starcraft to 40K for one simple reason!

40k encompasses a whole galaxy, while the entirety of Starcraft takes place in the Koprulu sector a small fringe cluster at the edge of the Milky way. The Protoss Empire on its prime only reached across the Koprulu sector meaning they would be at the very best a minor and inrrelevant race like the Tau.

Even if we do no consider that they psychic power would fuck them up terribly because Chaos would just rush to eat them up like free candy.

Mind you I love Starcraft but putting it into 40k is like pouring a spoon of clear water into a pool of toxic waste and expecting something to happen with said pool of toxic waste. Why can't you just leave the two settings alone?
>>
>>46436295

It'd be better if we discussed Starcraft as its own game.

It's the dead of winter. Two grand armies sit across from one another, amid the driving snow and sleet, dug in deep as they resupply, reorganize, and recruit. The knights of Solaris are hale and hardy, resisting the cold through will and determination, subsisting on rations and rum sent from their homeland. Though the terrain is strange, and the weather cruel, they persist. The mages and footmen of Hielon are accustomed to the cold, but their fields have been burned and trampled by the fighting, and though they feel the burning passion of defending one's home from invading enemies, they cannot aim their aggression at anything but one another, leading to infighting and risking mutiny.

You stand above and outside this conflict, supplying each side in secret and observing for weaknesses. You have not chosen to devote yourself to one side as of yet, but that may change with news to come. Duncan, ever dutiful spymaster, reports that the excuse of eloping nobles was but a cover for the truth. Hielon spies have revealed that the nation is home to a powerful magical artifact; one so ancient and powerful the Solari king would throw his own subject's lives into the abyss for a chance to obtain it. However, this is not all Duncan knows. The Solari themselves only know of and seek the artifact for they too possess an important piece, but whether the two are related directly, and this invasion is not simply a means to secure two sources of power, is unclear.

For now, you must decide how to proceed.

Holy hell /fat/guys, I need to ask for your help.

I'm running a campaign that is taking place in rather flat plains-like not-Shire that was conquered and re-concquered a dozen times over a millenia. For the last 50 years there is peace as the last empire crumbled from within.

I'd really appreciate some pictures of old, crumbling statues/structures that resemble the past of these lands. Can you please help me out?

All pictures are cool as long as there are no mountains.

Thanks for any non-mountain-ish pic drop that involves remnants of stuff that could belong to ancient empires. Can drop an overgrown constructs and alike too.

thanks!

Welcome to Academy City. The time is morning, the weather is dry, and the date is February 13.

You are Kyril Torikov, Level 3 telekinetic combat cyborg and you were investigating a jail break. The cell you were in was supposed to be holding the infamous master thief Lupin IV. Instead, you found Grímsdóttir. She was also a combat cyborg. It wasn’t just her artificial voice that gave it away. With how Tadakuni had asked the Problem Children for some help earlier, you weren’t surprised he had found an extra pair of hands. The pieces fell in place. He had deliberately triggered an alarm which prompted the transfer of the prisoners to another wing. That was when he struck. Both he and Grímsdóttir disguised themselves as guards and transported the prisoners. The switch occurred when they were transferring Lupin to her new cell. That Grímsdóttir was still here was suspicious.

“Honestly, I’m not sure whether to be impressed or wary that you’d rather wait in jail for me to catch on,” you told her.

She remained impassive.

“Still, the vaunted vigilante Grímsdóttir, working with a thief and a scoundrel like Tadakuni,” you continued, “Looks like we’re not so different in the end.”

“He is the lesser evil.” Her self-righteousness crept back in. “Did you think killing Etzali would magically solve all the problems in the District? Did you forget there is a serial bomber running loose? They’re responsible for the Papal delegation bombing.”

With all that excitement with God’s Right Seat, you had almost forgot that you were going to find the one responsible. Though thinking about the current season, you realised that Grímsdóttir was trying to broker some kind of deal here.

“You want to work with me to bring the one responsible in?”

“Consider it my apology,” she replied.

You were hesitant to take her word at face value. She surely had an agenda here. Still, you could put that aside for the moment. Both of your interests were in alignment so it was best to take advantage of it while you could.

“Apology accepted,” you said.

Her silent breath out was more a sigh of relief.

“Now tell me more about bomber. Physical descriptions, motivations, patterns, tell me everything.”

“I would prefer that we get out of this cell first,” she said, “Let’s see. I have no physical description beyond male and white hair.”

“Better hope it’s not the Accelerator then,” you muttered.

“I have no idea on their motivation but the way Etzali financed him hints at a mercenary disposition. As far as pattern goes, he tries to randomise as best as a he can so I could have not predicted where he would strike next, only when.”

The reports of bombings were clustered close together but even you could see the timing of his attacks. Etzali kept him on a breakneck pace, limited only by his ability to scrounge and assemble together materials discreetly.

“How much material do you think he has left?”

“Worst case he’ll hit someplace big tomorrow,” she replied, “I could do more if I were out of this cell, or had Taylor on hand.”

“You’re joking.”

It wasn’t a joke. You could conceivably walk out with her but what was going to stop her from pulling a runner? Then again she was an AI. She could simply leave this physical shell behind. You weren’t sure where she would go but you were pretty sure Nayuta or Last Order could track her. Unless… she didn’t have any more back up bodies available. Damn you were starting to over think this again.

>Take her with you

Hello and welcome back to Mortal Kombat Thief Quest, a continuation of Mortal Kombat Konquest.

When we last left our bad-situation-waiting-to-happen hero, he found himself on Shang Tsung's island and face-to-face with the old sorcerer himself. Surprised by the old man's personality, he nonetheless fetched an ancient book, the Tao Te Zhan for him and was thus sent home. Once there, he reunited with his sister and told her the truth about his terrible secret, before spending some time with Skarlet and his new ghostly friend, Minerva.

Cao awakens and finds himself with both a headache and someone in his bed. The morning light creeps through the open window of Ruby's estate. He turns his head and discovers that it is Skarlet, dozing hard after her night of drinking. He didn't have nearly as much as she did, but it seemed to affect her much more potently. Memories flood back into his head, then, of Minerva the ghost and what she wanted him to do: offer Skarlet's body for her to inhabit. He had refused her for a few reasons and she left, saddened by his response.

He shakes his head. What was he to do? He couldn't be certain that it would be for the best, that it would do everything the ghost insisted it would. He looks over at Skarlet. She may not possess complete free will, but she does have a personality and a character of her own. He couldn't be certain that she would have said yes, as she is compelled to obey his orders---but only because he harbors the soul of Shao Kahn.

He lays his head back on the pillows and considers what to do next.

>beastfolk

Is this like "fish" and "fishes", where the setting has multiple races of beastfolk?

A crater, blood on the tree in front of you and deafening silence.
These are the only things that you are capable of comprehending right now.
Your opponent is dead and his remains have disappeared, with his blood fading away currently.
It took you one direct hit to obliterate the quincy that was leading the concentration camp.
Your new technique Fata Morgana allowed you to deceive your opponent and deliver a deadly sneak attack.

Asher crawls out from behind the bush that he was hiding in and looks at the result of your attack with a shocked look on his face.

"You.. you killed him?"

"Yes."

"So much blood... But what'll happen with us now?"

"Honestly, I don't know. But you'd better hide, pretty sure the soldiers could feel this one and are currently on their way here.
If you go back to work with the others they won't have anyone to shift the blame to.
It's lucky he was self cleaning, otherwise we might have a problem."

"But he was the one in charge!"

"Without anything to indicate his death everyone will assume he deserted in the chaos of the bombing.
They'll probably still try and punish all of you, but I won't let them do any serious harm."

"Right, I'll get back to the others."

With that he left to meet the workers who are still working.
It seems the shockwave was weak enough that everyone including the soldiers assumed that it was a distant explosion made by one of the planes the fell.
You got really lucky, but even with that you kept a close watch on Asher while staying hidden from prying shinigami and probably quincy eyes.
The workers were actually sent back to their barracks and the soldiers created search parties to find their missing commanding officer.
Without any traces left of him they quickly abandoned the idea of finding him in a couple of hours.
154 posts and 12 images submitted.
>>
His second in command called his superiors and reported his apparent desertion, just like you predicted.
With him in charge now things will probably change a bit, he seems to be a lot less of a maniac than his predecessor.
The workers received no punishment and weren't given any additional work for the day.
Apparently the entire chain of command has to be shifted with this and that will take time.

Once you made sure that Asher will be fine you decided to go back to Pescie.
He might get a bit anxious if you leave him alone for too long.

You make it back in a few minutes but on the way your stomach begin to hurt.
You feel nauseous, something you haven't experienced before.
You weren't even aware that you could get sick, probably overgorging yourself on all those shinigami was not such a good idea.

You can see Pesci still napping where he fell asleep but now he is awake at least.

"Hey Boss, where have you been?"

"Just doing an errand Pesci.
I also killed the guy in charge of the camp."

"You know, if it was anyone else I'd say you are pulling my leg.
But with you, I'll believe anything."

"So yeah, with that and our earlier stunt I think we aren't welcome here anymore.
I'm thinking of leaving.
Do you have any suggestions?"

He ponders for a moment.

"How about Hueco Mundo?"

"What Mundo?"

"Hueco Mundo, the land of the hollows.
They say that is the only place where hollows are safe from everything, except each other of course."

"And where can we find this place?"

"No idea, they say that you can only go there through some sort of portal, but I haven't even seen one before."

That is a first.
A place for only hollows? Intriguing.
You should find out more about this place, but how?

You've really got to wonder – would anyone believe the things you've seen today? Makai, the sorcerer's bestial creation that lingered on in that wasteland, and the colossal pyramid nestled within the mountains. All things that defy rationality, invite disbelief and, overall, belong in the history books – or books of myth and legend.

As you walk through the hidden village, the cult sanctuary, you let your pace slow down until you are no longer fleeing, although you couldn't say exactly what it was that you were running from. When you halt completely, you take out the vial of Makai dust and shake it, watching the shimmering contents dance around the glass bottle. This is the only proof of where you've been, and it might not be any proof at all. Maybe it's just dust.

But perhaps that's for the best – any proof you could provide would just lead back here, and raise all manner of difficult questions.

That idea alone raises an issue. Now that you know where the cult is based, what should you do with that information? If word of this reached the Emperor's ears, he'd spare no effort in a foolish attempt to besiege the enclave, throwing his men at the natural defences until they could walk the length of the river, a path made from bodies beneath their feet. Countless lives, on both sides of the conflict, would be thrown away.

Needless to say, there could be no peaceful resolution after that. As word spread there would surely be revenge attacks, no matter how futile they might be. More purges would follow, a military crackdown on anyone showing a failure of loyalty. Even the Nameless Temple itself could be cast into suspicion – more than it already has been, at least.

Perhaps... perhaps you'll keep things quiet for now. Just until you know what the situation is. As you reach that conclusion, your thoughts aided by the sound of water splashing around the crude docks, Soma reaches your side once more.

“You're really leaving?” she asks, a question which you answer with a nod, “I won't stop you, don't worry. Remember what we said, though – you've got a home here, if you want it.”

The offer, you tell her with a carefully neutral tone, is appreciated. Regardless, you need to leave for now.

“I understand,” Soma nods, “Listen, I shouldn't say this, but... do you have any friends in the south-east?”

The south-east, you recall, is nothing but fields and farmland. Beyond the fact that it borders the capital, there's nothing even remotely significant there. Why, you ask slowly, is she talking about the south-east all of a sudden?

“No reason,” Soma shuffles awkwardly, “So, where are you headed?”
