Dear /co/,
this weekend I attended my first con in years and it was pretty gud. Got to play The Strange and Numenera and ran two games.
One thing I noticed is that a lot of the younger players where more "normal" looking guys (there where still some spergs), while the +30 crowd was really a bunch of gamer cliches (metal shirts, fat, long hair or thin with almost no hair). I met one cool dude that was working on his own system though
What was your last con like /tg/ ?

Good.
No culture shock, no generation gap, as always.
Went to the UK Student Nationals this weekend. It was fun. Played in the Action/Adventure category and got on really well with the group.
Anyone been to Concrete Cow?

Do you think having fantasy races are a necessity to some extent?
They're necessary if you can't write well enough to make your different groups of humans varied and interesting
I personally enjoy them.
Plus at this point I'm sick of humans only, no fun allowed, Game of Throne rip-off worlds made by people who are trying way too hard.

I think they're fun m8 and you can't stop me from putting Sahaguin into my world fucker

If I bring a 500-point list to the table featuring pic related, am I That Guy?
>(yes: I started that baronial court thread the other day)
Yes.
>>46460094
Only you and the other player can decide that.
If you know that you're that guy, you are. If the other player thinks you're that guy, you are. If you think you're not, but everyone tells you you are, you are.
Nothing that a bunch of fa/tg/uys can say will have any impact on you being that guy.
Evidence points in that direction though.
Did 40k get rid of any kind of army structure requirements (minimum number of troops choices etc) ?
Shit players say thread.
My PCs just hit level 4. I threw some ghouls at them, which they were able to dispatch without too much trouble. The gunslinger then goes:
>Wow guys. Have you all realized how badass we are now?
Reminder level 5 is liteeally the threshold for being superhuman in dnd
>>46459094
Which edition? Or are you--as is the case of many posts beginning with "reminder"--just repeating something you've heard or read before?
D&D should never get higher thab lvl 6.
Where do you fall on this chart?
Should anything about it be changed?

If our base point is Writers/Authors, then how the fugg do we go to 13 year old gamers? The line of connection seems fucking nonsensical.
>>46449324
Gonna admit I don't get the top of this. It seems like a bit of a odd point to start off at?
>>46449668
>>46449822
I suppose we could just start over from scratch and just rank /tg/ related interests and hobbies instead.
Then we get a something like
>people who play OD&D -> people who play 2e -> people who play 3.PF -> ...4e -> ...5e -> people who play FATAL
etc.
Game Masters should be at the top of on of the branches if we want to start over.

Where in the book can I find the rules for attacking while non-proficient with a weapon?
>>46428922
I believe it's either under standard attack, or where it describes proficiency.
>>46428922
UNTRAINED ATTACKS
When a character makes an attack without the appropriate proficiency, the attack is “untrained.” Any character may make an untrained attack, but he suffers a –4 attack check penalty and his error range increases by 2.

hey answer me this--why do people get offend when I toss them my d20 and ask them if they want to roll for first?
guy at the prerelease flatout say "that's a spindown. we dont roll with spindowns" and then got out his chessix. others had similar relactions.
what gives?
>>46446594
She's fucking hot, wow.
>>46447597
People are retarded, it's that simple. For some reason they think spindown are not dice.
>>46447597
For some reason MTG players seem deathly attached to 2d6 as standard rolling. It's like people that always do the card-flicking thing in their hand even when opening boosters.

It is the Year of our Lord, 1135
And Jerusalem marches to war.
On the road from Jaffa the army of Jerusalem has smashed aside a force of Bedouin raiders, leaving the road open to the gates of Ascalon. With outriders scouting for enemy positions, the host of Queen Melisende churns on, the trampling feet of men-at-arms marching beside the high spirited warhorses of the nobility. Levantine, Frank, German and Italian march together to the ancient fortress city that had belched out raiders onto the frontier of the Holy Land for a generation, ready to end this threat once and for all.
Thousands of soldiers with even more following in the baggage train, but at their head was a lone gold woman riding a tall white horse, flanked either side by the grand masters of the holy knights. The Queen, in maille threaded with gold, with high crested helm, armoured and riding as a warrior king, leading her vassals against the Saracen.
Behind her was carried a large crucifix said to contain a part of the true cross, and beside that the banner of her father, Baldwin. Drums beat and fifes piped that it almost had the feel of a carnival procession, so enthusiastic was their playing one might think dancers would leap forth from the ranks to garland Melisende's path. But this was an armed procession, honed for the kill.
The army came to a halt before the distant figure of Ascalon, its high walls and domed buildings a grey shadow upon the plain, the barest glimmer of the sea behind it.
A rider came up with message for the Queen. A young knight panting hard, grinning.
"Ships are spotted on the Palestine sea," he said, "Flying Sicilian and Genoan colours."
The Queen grinned. Her cousin Roger had arrived, with the Genoan contingent. The army would grow.
"What of the Saracen fleet?" Raymond du Poy asked, "Or the ships from Sidon?"
The young knight shrugged. Either they were not sighted or were not there. It caused du Poy to bark off a curse, that earned a shushing hand from the Queen.
"And Ascalon?" she asked.
"The gates are barred," the knight said, "A trench line dug around its walls. They won't ride out to meet us."
Du Poy swore again. This time the Queen did not shush him.
She took a breath. Gave the young knight a stroke of the shoulder. "Go, get something to drink, then ride out. I want an eye on those ships."
She turned back to her war host, eyes crinkling as thoughts churned through her head. The fate of her rule would be decided in the shadow of Ascalon's walls.

This is quick question, I'll probably delete this thread after about 10 replies.
Can I make at least a $50 return or more from a booster box? I want to build a decent SOI collection for kitchen table but $100-110 seems too steep of an investment for that. My solution is to immediately offload whatever mythics or foils I pull since I don't plan on playing competitive standard and keeping the rest. I'm willing to "gamble" a bit since I have extra cash but only if I can make some kind of a decent return.
I've never bought a booster box, does any of this make sense? Are there any better ways to get a bunch of cards for a set or am I on the right track? Thanks in advanced.

How heretical
I've been running a long term D&D group that has been exceedingly great at RPing. Then a new player joined with a magical device that ruined everything. Anyway, after she joined the group has gone completely down hill in terms of RPing and has become completely centered around flattery towards the new player. Now, every member of the group that used to care about the story or plot just care about getting any sort of reaction from the girl.
Case in point, people are discussing what to do next and she suggests something completely stupid and completely off the plot rails with no reasoning behind it. Everyone rallies and fellates her non existent dick forcing the story in a completely stupid direction.
Not only this but idle chit chat and other off-topic chatter has increased massively. It used to be straight into the story but now it involves wasted minutes discussing what fucking food she ate at lunch and everyone around her trying to impress or respond to her.
I finally got fucking tired of it and killed her character off through a completely inescapable DM trap. After killing her character, I simply said she will not be able to continue in this adventure but should apply for a CHANCE to join the next game I run.
Now, the rest of the group is pretty upset for some reason but I am sure I can social engineer things to keep the group going and slowly edge the bitch out forever. Should I have handled the situation in a different manner, for instance maybe just straight up kicking her out? I feel like I executed the best plan possible and handled the social exchanges afterwards good enough to fool them.
tl;dr
The usual situation is that you're a passive-aggressive cunt who decided to be less passive and more aggressive and stuff like that. I'm about 100% it's a completely uninteresting situation and that you're a shit GM since you need to post about it on /tg/.
