/bbg/ - Blood Bowl General: League III sign-ups OPEN edition

I am now accepting applications for /tg/ FUMBBL League III. There will be two divisions, as before.

In the Veterans league, as usual, this is completely open-weight to any returning /tg/ League teams (either from League I, League II or both), or anyone cuh-razee enough to want to enter a fresh team.

In the Rookies league, any coach may enter a fresh team, or a returning team from either previous /tg/ Leagues under 1200 Tournament Weight (which is different to Team Value).

As usual, players may only enter one team total.

To apply, PM me on FUMBBL (user: MauledByTheTigers), stating your Team Name and which division they want to play in. Apply your team to the group, and ensure they are READY TO PLAY if not already, so you'll have to roll any skills or buy new players first.

I've had a few PMs already, I'll check your applications and either ACCEPT or REJECT you.

Also, I will skullfuck any dropouts. They're a pain in the arse for everyone involved.

If you can't last ~6 weeks, don't apply. Stick to casual play.

DE bliltzers are about cage busting and being annoying (blodge sidestep tackle and jump up/diving tackle) while witches are there to make you scared of sidelines but neither have the easy killer skills

HEs are similiar but more about avoiding you and just putting the biscuit in the basket via throws though they CAN afford some hits

Idk, I've never really played Flings and I'm doing it for the lulz. Also I'm not that familiar with Starplayers as of now. Deeproot seems really strong though.

14 is ideal for 'Flings - aside from Deeproot, you can also take Morg, Zara the Slayer, Willow, or Bertha Bigfist. Even Puggy Baconbreath can be useful if you have nothing else to spend the cash on - S3 with Nerves of Steel. You could also get mercenary Halflings with specific skills but that's hardly a good idea.

Star players are usually hideously inefficient for the gold but when you're rolling in 500k+ inducements after the Wizard and Chef it doesn't really matter.

You need one open spot on the team for each Star Player and/or mercenary.

Halflings and to some extent Goblins both live and die by the inducement list due to the discounts on the Chef/bribes respectively. Gaming the TV system is important for those teams (at least if you're aiming to win, and even then they're still tier 3 teams for a reason).

Getting a blitz on the carrier is generally the tricky part - anyone that's not AG4 is unlikely to break into a cage or dodge past a layered screen.

Secondly, popping the ball free and leaving everybody standing generally does not do you a whole lot of good unless you can pick up the ball and more importantly, get it somewhere safe. Even if you pop the ball free from a cage it's probably still in 1-3 tackle zones and within reach of a lot of enemy players - and no way to blitz them off, because you spent the Blitz stripping the ball already.

This requires a tremendous investment of your own players and a lot of high risk ball handling rolls. Often the players you need will be tied up elsewhere, which limits it to agility/speed teams who have less of a problem getting the requisite players free, making an opposed pickup, and then getting safe.

The race with the best points per team ratio gets to send their best team that wouldn't make the playoffs into the playoffs as a wild card. Maybe the 2 best race groups so that the numbers balance better or something? That way you will have people rooting across race groups and you can't really purposely throw games because a tie vs a win would both count as the same amount of points for the race group

I can see taking +st after you roll a +ma or doubles

Only the catcher has has 2+ speed over anyone. The line orcs and blitzers can just about run with you and a good coach won't let you get behind him without a marking option.

All three are teams that rely on their dice failing them at critical moments. If the Lizard or Orc player never rolls double skulls on S4 blocks, or the Dark Elf player never rolls a 1, then they're very likely to run away with the game.

Both teams really require you to push the limits and make some calculated risks like 1d blocks or 3+ dodges. Playing absolutely safe will simply see your team ground down.
