I am starting to really hate /pfg/. It's odd. At one point I thought the folks here were more reasonable than the fuckers in the paizo forums. Then I realized the folks here are just as trash but in a different way.
I'm no shining example, but god damn.
>>46420043
Everyone's a shit, anon. It just depends on what kind of shit, and which annoys you more.
First to cast Tailful Polymorph, Mass on the entire party while they sleep!
So I assume this will turn into a torrent of hate, but what does /tg/ think of GATE? It's basicaly "/tg/ stock thread 143", do you think they got "modern milatry in fantasy land right? By that I mean the martial interactions betwen the two worlds. I don't reall care what you thouhgt of the rest of the anime.
>>46419508
/tg/ hates it. /k/ hates it too, from what I hear.
>>46419508
fun idea but serves as a Nationalist power fantasy that fails to act on the most interesting part of the scenario. Namely the crazy as fuck political problems that would pop up between every power on our world and theirs.
I really don't hate GATE that much. My main gripe with it it's that they make a fun idea really boring.
Why not make the Empire have a bunch of wizards to make the conflict more balanced and have a full operator moment when the nips try to kill those wizards?
Or more repercussion on the modern world about a transdimensional gate that connects with another world.
Hell, an international taskforce, each country with their own agendas, entering the GATE could add a bit more conflict and spice things up.
You dangle on the CNO's hook, sweating buckets as you contemplation your impossible situation. He's just waiting for you to offer an excuse so he can turn around and sodomize you with it - but he's also, technically, asked a question, which you are now obliged to answer. You can almost hear his smug patience dripping from the earpiece as you squirm in your chair, desperately seeking an escape that doesn't exist. Things turned out well - but trying to claim credit for the entirely accidental development would be a spectacularly bad idea.
At last, you reach for the only slender thread of hope available to you.
“Sir... I... I *tried.*”
“... yes,” the CNO says. “Yes, you did.” He chuckles gently. “SecNav actually saw it first and phoned me. You and Admiral Goto... you... you two...” he starts laughing again, with genuine amusement. “If you could've seen the looks on your faces - well, I guess you will on the evening news, hah!”
You feel the blood draining from your head - your brain doesn't need it anymore, already preparing to go quietly into that good night. “We... tried...”
“And if you hadn't,” the CNO says, “two MPs would be telling you to put all your shit in a cardboard box right about now.”
There are no more abortive swallows or shivers to make. You just nod dumbly at the far wall, as if he can see it.
>we aren't fired
>because we aren't done suffering
“But you *did.* And by tomorrow morning, millions of people are going to see you and Goto getting played like accordions by those two shipgirls.” You can hear his grin over the phone. “You looked like you wanted to hide behind Arizona at some point.”
You open your mouth to object - and wisely close it without more than a miserable whimper. The CNO accepts that as answer enough. “Yeah. Essex is...” you glance at your computer reflexively to see Essex charging the monitor in a rage, only to yank the curtain rod off the window. It manages to dive between her ankles and send her skidding face-first over the floor. “... herself,” he decides, “but those two battleships... Settle, that's pretty much the first impromptu and non-scripted appearance of kanmusu on the public stage we've had. Emphasis on impromptu. You just showcased a kanmusu openly and brazenly disobeying orders - everyone's worst nightmare come to pass - and what horrible goal is she pursuing?”
“... draping herself over her commanding officer,” you reply.
“And getting jealous over him, too,” the CNO finishes. “And you and Arizona-!”
“It was mostly Arizona that salvaged it,” you reply. “I, uh... just... stood there. Mostly.”
“You *translated* for her, Settle,” the CNO chuckles. “She literally dragged your terrified ass into the room, just so you could translate for her.”
“Well, that's-”
“She *relies* on you, Settle.”
Something clamps down on your heart. “I... yes, sir. I rely on her more, though. If Essex hadn't charged in, we could've wrapped it up nice and neat. I was lucky she was with me.”
“Lucky?” the CNO asks pointedly. “I thought Thomas ordered you to keep her by your side 24/7, as your bodyguard?”
Shit. SHIT. “I've had Northampton or a few MPs filling in the last few days,” you explain, “with Admiral Thomas's permission-”
“Why?” the CNO asks sharply.
“Arizona was-” oh, you are so fucked - “peeved with me, sir.”
Silence.
Complete and total silence.
Then, a long, pensive inhalation - the building storm that follows the crystallization of understanding.
Oh, *shit.*
“Settle... I've got an entire wartime Navy to run. I haven't had time to keep tabs on just what's going on there in our shipgirl program. And I *shouldn't have to.*” You wince - he's telling you he *will* know within forty-five minutes of hanging up that phone; or his staffers will, which is the same thing. “As of thirty minutes ago, your relationship with that battleship is an issue of national security. There's already internet fan clubs devoted to shipping, uh, the ships.”
“... shipping, sir?”
“Fantasizing about them being in relationships. One of the more popular ones is you and Goto, actually.”
“What,” you say flatly.
“My point, Admiral, is that you will keep those shipgirls in general happy - and Arizona in particular.”
“... sir,” you mutter weakly; not quite a query, just a request for confirmation.
“Yes, Settle. That *is* an order. Whatever she needs, whatever she wants, you give it to her.”
The CNO hangs up with a click.
You stare at the phone for a good thirty seconds before you fully process what the hell he just said.
[ ] ... that did not just happen. This is not a thing that happens in the Navy. There are ways around this, and you know them, very well.
[ ] Call for help. Call ANYONE. [write-in who to call]
[ ] Tend to something else for now, and file this away to scream about later. [write-in what to do]
Why is it so easy to hate steampunk anything?
Because conceptually its an excellent idea, in practice is full of autistic retards.
>>46418779
Simple. Just persuade yourself that everyone who like steampunk is a subhuman.
Because it's easy to make it hateable
Post fucking awfully designed magic cards, but explain why you think so.
So many things wrong with pic related.
First of all I think that allied colors should be stronger together because that emphasizes the color pie philosophy, one of the most genius parts of the game. I think a good way to do this would be for enemy colors not to have duals or to have worse duals.
Secondly, they are cancer and combined with shock lands (which should not have land types) allow you to run as many colors as you want and not get screwed out of a color 90% of the time.
Finally they allow players to shuffle every single turn.
First of all it's better than Savannah Lions, which pisses me off.
Secondly, all of these transforming planeswalkers are stupid. There are already multiple PW versions of these planeswalkers at different points in time. All they needed to do to show the origins was make legendary creatures. The transforming is clunky and the "story-telling" aspect is faggy because A) this is supposed to be a big epic moment, but is going to go down every other frigging game if you have one of these in your deck B) because it trivializes the story when for example Liliana's spark is ignited because "lol another creature you control died".
Neo-Avacyn has nearly the EXACT same problems.

>First of all I think that allied colors should be stronger together because that emphasizes the color pie philosophy, one of the most genius parts of the game. I think a good way to do this would be for enemy colors not to have duals or to have worse duals.
Allied color fixing being stronger than enemy color fixing limits design space and deckbuilding decisions.
>Secondly, they are cancer and combined with shock lands (which should not have land types) allow you to run as many colors as you want and not get screwed out of a color 90% of the time.
Not true outside of low-power formats like standard. Modern has Blood Moon and aggro decks which punish excessive use of fetchlands and shocklands. Legacy has Wasteland and Stifle on top of what Modern has. You'll notice that neither format has many 4-5c decks. 4c delver in Legacy is only possible because of Deathrite Shaman.
>Finally they allow players to shuffle every single turn.
At the cost of life and vulnerability to Stifle, Blood Moon, and search hate, yes. It's not like this matters unless you're playing brainstorm.
>>46417975
>First of all it's better than Savannah Lions, which pisses me off.
Savannah Lions is a cool card, but it's weak compared to the creatures they print now. There's a reason that White Weenie hasn't been a force in standard for years. Even with the buffs, Kytheon isn't a staple in any constructed format.
>Secondly, all of these transforming planeswalkers are stupid. There are already multiple PW versions of these planeswalkers at different points in time. All they needed to do to show the origins was make legendary creatures. The transforming is clunky and the "story-telling" aspect is faggy...
This is inane criticism. Flavor is subjective.
I'm not a huge fan of the neowalkers or how all MTG storylines are invariably centered around them, but I thought the origins flip-walkers were a neat use of design space.
tl;dr you're a fag and you suck at magic.

>you're a fag
You're a fag, retard.
My family sits around the dinner table.
In silence.
Not a single one of them are saying anything. No one is even mentioning the reason we have gathered here.
To figure out what to do with Asai. Who has already escaped his confines once.
Somehow, this was a better idea in my head than it is in practice.
I am Itsukuma Masami. I've done it, I've captured Asai.
I'm just not sure what to do with him now. Taking him to an average prison is right out, he would be out in an hour. Making a magical prison for him only worked for a few minutes. Now he's tied up, and back inside the same magical prison. Something which I can only imagine he will escape from sooner or later.
So what do we do with him? What do we do with a person who just can not be redeemed?
No, no. I'm not going to say that just yet. Everyone can be redeemed, and everyone can become a good person.
I'm sure of it. I just, have to give him some time, is all.
So, my family and I are still deliberating this tense subject. I felt it was only right to include them on this.
"Do we have any plan at all what to do with him? Just one plan?!" My face feels flustered right now.
"I don't know, I'm not good with punishment." Thanks Julie.
"We should destroy him now while we have the chance." Mom, I don't think you're in the right mindset.
"Bed without dinner, and no dessert for a whole month!" Cirrus, stop.
"I was thinking, maybe move him to a bigger prison?" Haruko at least has an idea.
"I'm for whatever you decide, Masami." Kaori, you're not helpful.
All eyes fall to the only person who hasn't spoke yet, the friendly monster.
"Hmm?"
"So, what do we do with Asai?"
He's silent for a few moments. He's like a big, metallic statue.
"I would say save him, but it's clear that would be difficult. So I dont know."
>I'm STILL for trying to save him.
>But how?
>I'm not for saving him anymore, I've changed my mind.

The sound of SecNav laughing is terror made manifest.
It starts abruptly; a single sharp snigger that snaps off from the vast bulk of Olympus. You feel it looming for long milliseconds, a chunk of cliff suspended in freefall - and then it slams into the rocky flanks with a hideous cacophony of rumbling rock as the earthslide begins. Something fell and terrible is breaking loose in SecNav's voice; years upon years of it, penned behind Professionalism and reinforced by Discipline, and now, at long last, it's freed. Shit rolls downhill, and the higher it starts, the faster it's moving when it hits the poor bastards below - and SecNav is second only to POTUS.
His laughter knows no cease nor pause - it simply thunders through your phone and around your office, echoing over the infinite miles. You sit, silent and frozen - to augur the meaning of this portent requires no tea leaves or pigeon guts.
Someone is *fucked.*
And that someone is quite likely *you.*

It wouldn't be cosmic, would it? Unless it has cosmic implications, which would still just make it natural horror with cosmic implications, not cosmic horror. Better stick -punk in there for good measure, OP, while we're just jumbling words together.

I was indirectly responsible for that image's creation! The EP devs asked for ideas on art for the Firewall book and I basically requested something that played up the multi-faction aspect of Firewall in that it recruits everyone from Jovians to Autonomistscumto corporate executives, etc.
I'm glad it went through.

I do fully understand the issues with maybe being snowflakey. I don't want to be so, necessarily, but I liked the idea of someone who's highly idealistic and sheltered coming to realize just how often the Imperium fails humanity and the Emperor, and the purity of the Sororitas strikes me as a more interesting starting point.
Also, of course, the aforementioned "icon" stuff.
Hi all. Asked in 40k general but got no responses.
I've been invited to a Rogue Trader game. I skimmed through the careers and decided to be a Seneschal, he seems like a sneaky-stealthy-smart-and-charming type who is also great at accounting and general commerce, and I absolutely love this kind of characters in RPGs. I'm not familiar with the game itself, only had a couple one-shots in Only War before, all with pre-generated characters. So, I'd like to not make any choices I'd regret during chargen. Are there any options I should avoid? And, preferably, are there any sources of advice on character making, like a guide?
>>46415928
Seneschal is all or nothing - if your GM is making a lot of flat out combat runs, then you will suffer a bit. If you have a heavy politickan game, you can carry your team. RT careers are hyper specialized, and will do a few things excellently, and flounder at others. Augment what you're good at, buy gear that boosts what you're good at, and remember that your homeboys should (hopefully) have your back.
As a seneschal, you are the first line of defense for the team's profit factor. You are James Bond mixed with Charles Foster Offdensen. You can buy friends and enemies, and know almost everything and anyone anywhere. Pick wisely.
>>46416026
Thanks. Speaking of gear and stuff. Is it feasible to invest in character skills and knowledge and operate with the bare minimum of gear? Like being on par in damage with someone wielding a plasma cannon while having only a pistol just because you're a really good shot? I prefer the approach of "the less you can lose the better"due to a long time playing Eclipse Phase, can it work?

April 2nd marks 34 years since Argentine forces invaded and occupied the Falkland Islands (known in Spanish as Islas Malvinas), thus beginning the ~2 month long Falklands War.
In the months leading up to the war, Argentina had been in the midst of devastating economic stagnation and large scale civil unrest against the country's military junta, which had held power
since 1976. In December 1981 a new junta led by General Leopoldo Galtieri, Brigadier Basilio Lami Dozo and Admiral Jorge Anaya came to office. Anaya in particular would be the main architect and
supporter of military action in the Falklands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.
By opting for invasion, the Galtieri junta hoped to invoke the patriotic feelings of the Argentine people towards the islands, thus distracting them from worsening economic conditions and ongoing
human rights violations by the regime whilst simultaneously boosting the regime's dwindling legitimacy.
Tension between Argentina and the United Kingdom reached a head on 19 March when a group of Argentine marines disguised as scrap merchants raised the Argentine Flag on South Georgia. The Royal Navy
despatched the patrol vessel HMS Endurance from Stanley in response, concerned that the UK would strengthen its forces in the South Atlantic, the invasion of the Falklands proper was brought forward to 2 April.

Keep the MK/Lady N related squabbling to a minimum.
To keep this from becoming /tesg/ minus waifus, don't post memes unless you are also posting quality discussion. Especially if it's not even Elder Scrolls related.
