Greetings and salutations, since i don't seem to see a civ game and haven't run one since last summer i figured that it wouldn't hurt to start one.
Here are the rules for those that are new, unfamiliar or simply have forgotten them:
1)I roll for you, no need to roll for anything, I've found that this makes the game more dynamic as people are left guessing what will happen.
2)As far as research goes I have a tech tree in mind and will give you the next researchable tech when you choose to do something like that
3)You can issue commands for the entire populace or individuals/groups in order to divide your workforce
4)At the start of the game i would like you to also state at what level you would like to start: Emergent/Tribal/Medieval(this may entitle some further data from you tho)
I am ok with any race and any location, even if they are unpopular.
First two votes that match race/location within 10 minutes or first 3 within 5 minutes win the choosing and then get to talk out at what level we start.

Anyone here have any experience with the Madison, WI tabletop gaming scene? I hear they are supposed to be really conservative. Not politically mind you, but just really safe and conformist. And unwelcoming to outsiders.
Just go there with your trechcoat, 4chan shirt, and Anonymous mas, and you will be welcomed with friendly arms.
>>46557614
What are they gonna do, stab you?
I live in Madison, what do you want to know? Do you go to netherworld games?
How often do doubles happen on a 2d6? Often enough to base a resolution mechanic on it? How about 3d6?
>>46551142
http://anydice.com/
Thank me later.
1/6 chance for 2d6. (who'd have guessed?)
It happens often enough. A double 1 is the only way to roll a 2 in 2d6, a double 6 is the only way to roll a 12, which is why a lot of people prefer a multi-die system to the d20 system.
Personally, I prefer d100.
>>46551142
1/36 rolls will be a specific set of doubles
1/6 rolls is any set of doubles
Are psykers in the Imperium allowed to breed?
There's supposedly some genetic basis to being a psyker, so one would think that would be strictly regulated.
>>46550646
Sure.
If you accept the fact your kid will eventually be dragged off on the Black Ships to go through the same horrendously traumatic experience you went through.
>>46550646
It is genetic. Psychic activity is the future humanity was destined to follow. Unfortunately, the stigma against them and the difficulty of properly raising one to not tear holes in the warp has stunted our growth as a species. Thus, the witch hunters and paranoia across the Imperium do their damnedest to ensure we stagnate as a species. And they're doing a pretty good job of it too. The Emperor stalled us from making that leap in his time because we were not yet ready for that stage in development. Had he a few thousand more years we would have a webway much like that of the Eldar, regular and stable psychic troops among the guard, and a proper plan in motion to suppress chaos. Instead, we have zealots shooting humans that are in fact closer to their god figure than they.
They'd have to make a specific schola for psyker babies just in case they get powers
Your name is Amy Nakamura, a 17 year old void Oni, and right now you’re conversing with a very cheerful Wizard named Christin Klein. Except her usually cheerful demeanor vanished in an instant when you confirmed her suspicion about who the boy in the park was. For reasons currently unknown to you the fact that Dan Butler was attacked guy is important enough to cause Christin to swear.
“FUUUUUCK, this is going to be such a pain in my ass.” Christin whines to no one in particular. You get the feeling that this is actually a very big deal.

What supplements work best with Tome of Battle?
Complete Warrior has all kinds of prestige classes and feats that could work with ToB, but what else?
Not playing 3.5e.
Magic of Incarnum or whatever it was called?
>What works best with any 3.P splat book?
A fire.
No, seriously, I wouldn't be able to give you an actual recommendation because there wasn't a whole helluva a lot of melee focused stuff released. Magic related works? Oodles, but the BoNS and ToB and Complete Warrior/Scoundrel/Adventurer is about all I can think of right off the top of my head.
How do I stop sucking at this game? I'm gettng rekt by fucking AI at medium they just send squad after squad and choke me out. I never was good at strategy games and have problems with uprgading units, building and defending my shit at the same time.

“Are you feeling up for it, though?” you ask. “You *have* been through a lot, and fighting the damn war takes precedence over some song-and-dance bullshit.”
She brushes a stray strand of hair out of her face - her hairbuns are temporarily absent - and shakes her head. “I'm fine. I can pick up the songs fast enough, and...” a small smile. “For once, I won't be up there strutting a lie. It'll be... well, pretty much *me.*”
“Ah, good. That's all set, then? Don't need any illegal pyrotechnics or shutter shades?”
She fixes you with a serious look. “Don't come.”
“... what?”
“Watch it on TV, but don't come.”
“And why is that?”
“Hey, so, you know,” Harder interjects casually. “This is just, like, a crazy idea that just, you know, kinda popped in there, heh, but maybe just a tiny teensy bit has to do with the whole you know SOMEONE TRIED TO KILL YOU, BRO!”
“... bro?”
“Brotherfromanothamutha?” he amends.
“We seriously have to monitor your internet usage.”
“He's right,” Naka cuts you both off hastily. “You *do* have to start worrying about yourself more. There's going to be a big crowd; jam-packed - there's no way anyone can keep attackers at a distance. A single knife comes out and-”
“I'm going to tell you what I already told Arizona,” you reply brusquely. “I'm a grown-ass man.”
She folds her arms over her chest and glowers at you. “I'm starting to see why she smacked you.”
“Ditto.”
>>46554343
>her hairbuns are temporarily absent
>Hair-down Naka
CUTE
Naka's expression crumples for a moment. “We both deserved HIIIIIIII!” her reply rises into a pinched-off yip, eyes popping wide. Harder braces himself on the table, absorbing her sharp little elbow without complaint. “Harder!”
“Naka?” Harder says. “I know you love to talk about duty and service and the debts a ship owes her country and all, but lets see if I can get you to understand something.” He leans against her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder and pointing at you, emulating your own gesture from earlier. “He'd die for you.”
She tightens her folded arms as she hugs herself again, leaning into Harder's embrace. Looking small, huddled and defeated, she stares off into the distance.
“Yeah,” she admits. You remember her question, the rhetorical statement she proffered while she sat in the rear of the C-5 with Harder's bloodied head cradled in her lap.
Harder turns to nuzzle Naka's ear with his nose, talking low and rough. “I shouldn't have snuck onto that plane. Did anyway. And that's why I'm not an Admiral.”
You open your mouth-
“And he shouldn't have gotten into a fucking drunk thug-stabbing contest like a fucking Carribean swashbuckling Errol-Flynning fuckwit,” Harder continues glibly, “so I probably would've tripped over him on my way in, but he can't turn into a goddamn warship, so, you know.”
You close your mouth.
Naka lifts her eyes to yours, questioning. The burden of command she knew about, but this-
- you spear some french toast on your fork and study it. “It's technically a brevet rank, anyways,” you say quietly. “Nobody makes Admiral at my age - well, when there's not a war on, anyways. There's a reason for that.” You spin your toast around idly. “And when there *is* a war on, you promote someone expendable to stand on cruiser bridges when eight-inch shells start flying.” A shrug. “I'm still a Captain. The Powers That Be said, that's good enough. I've got my orders.” You stuff the toast into your mouth to shut yourself up.
Before Naka can reply, a commotion a dozen feet away draws your attention. Hate has been halted in his aimless amble towards your table, his posse of dogs circling and barking and farting around the feet of Kaga, who's currently pinning Hate to the floor with her gaze. You're not sure how such a stonefaced woman manages to be so expressive, but the Look she's giving Hate can't be described any other way. The tight line of the mouth, the half-lidded eyes that compress her disdain into a slight downward slant (despite Hate being an inch or two taller than her,) even the slight backwards tilt of her head, as if keeping her nose clear of the 'MERICA fumes.
“Ironic,” she seethes. “You're the one with a presumed mother, and yet I'm the one with a rudimentary grasp of table manners.”
“Hmmmmm?” Hate mumurs through a mouthful of donut. The other soggy half droops off the bayonet. He catches it with his carafe. The corner of Kaga's mouth twitches as the splash splatters her sleeve with a few stray drops.
“I'd call you a pig, but even they know to keep it in the feeding trough.” Her high-class disdain drips from every syllable.

What kind of character are you going for with this dude? He's built like a Samurai but has the feel of an Aldori Swordlord.

You, the kids, and Raditz arrive at Capsule Corp, the soft crunch of snow underneath entertaining Peppa and Gohan endlessly. Chuu Lee seems... mostly better, though Keli's still trying to apologize for the... incident. Hoo boy is that going to make for an interesting news story...
Most everyone is there already, and a short time after you arrive, Goku, Mr. Popo, and Trip show up... and with two extra folks for a pleasant surprise.
"Been quite a while, Melee, Gola." you comment, shaking the two demons' hands.
"The Prince allowed us some time off." the larger demon replies. "And... well, you seem to be the only one Towa shows up near on a consistent basis, Maple."
Your brother smirks. "But of course. She's still pining after her even- OW!" Aaaand Chi-chi bonks him on the head before he can finish.
Goku chuckles slightly. "Sorry I didn't get back sooner. I... guess I still have a ways to go before I can match someone like Beelzebub." he admits with an earnest, giddy grin, rubbing the back of his neck.

Sup boss?
You're hesitant to touch the book, seeing as it's bound in skin. Pushing past your discomfort you carefully pull open the front cover and flip through the pages, passively noting the fineness of the parchment, until you find something of interest. You don't have to flip far. You're barely a handful of pages in when you stumble upon an interesting note about the creation of golems.
The strength of a golem, the book claims, is determined by only two things. First and foremost is the suitability of the vessel in which it is housed. Second is the amount of vys with which it is imbued. Next it claims that living bodies make for truly exceptional vessels in which to place a golem, pointing out that the soul is not necessary for the survival of one's body. This leads in to the section's overall claim, that one is able to use the bodies of living people as a vessel for creating a golem.
However, it does mention that issues arise when one attempts to pry out the soul of a living creature. Souls are apparently quite tricky things to work with. None are sure exactly why souls require a mortal vessel to remain within reality, though there are many theories. What's certain is that a soul is very reluctant to abandon its physical form. Even when the soul is transported outside the body by oneself, it tends to manifest a shadow of its moral form around itself.
The book also mentions that it's unclear why a recently deceased corpse is so drastically severe a vessel compared to a form still living. A corpse, even if it has been dead for mere seconds and died in a nonviolent manner, will rapidly begin to degrade once the soul has fled. This is odd, since the same is not necessarily true for a living creature without a soul. The reason, supposes the author, has something to do with the shell. The shell is apparently absent in the dead, but remains present in the soulless.

You force yourself away from the text, forcefully shutting the ancient tome. If you allow yourself to get caught up reading, you'll never leave this place. Channeling vys, your perception of the world shifts. Through the lens of the Sight, you're able to perceive not only the fact that you're being watched by a veritable horde of minor spirits, but also that the book is heavily enchanted. It glows practically so bright that you're forced to avert your eyes.
Cutting the flow of vys, you pile the book into your cloak and turn to leave. However, something stops you. Can you really just let this woman languish here, entirely unaware of the fate of Hiacia? What if she pursues her mad goal primarily out of ignorance regarding the possible consequences? Reaching into your cloak, you extract a piece of parchment and an inkwell. Channeling vys, the ink flows freely through the air and arranges itself swiftly across the paper. You've always enjoyed the ability to commit a thought to writing without any effort on your part.
The text you produce sketches out in broad details the history of the past thousand years, going into particular detail about the Fall itself and its causes. You do your best to make the account comprehensive though undoubtedly leave much out. When finally you feel you've offered as much of a warning as you're able through writing, you dry the text with the barest exertion of will and pin the paper just inside the door with a thin sliver of stone.
You make your way swiftly through the ruined underground, the ephemerality of your cloak obscuring your form. You reach the stairwell up to the former librarian's office and find yourself faced with a conundrum. There exist in this ruined library a portal to the realm of a madwoman who seeks to elevate herself to godhood. No doubt she is far more powerful than you are, and possibly more powerful than any other vatis currently living.
(2/3)
So you're faced with a choice. Do you leave and hope that the Vatis who followed you down here was one of few who knew of this place's existence, or do you warn the Satrap and risk causing some sort of panic? You could always simply seal the passage with stone, but you're sure that any sufficiently determined Vatis could likely bypass any wall you erect. Unless of course it was enchanted.

You've been a student at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant since you were very, very young. Longer than you can remember; you can't recall what either of your parents looked like. But you're not bitter. You've been raised well by the Jedi at the Temple.
