OP a shit.

Why is the Crane clan opening a star wars thread?
>>46525690
The previous thread didn't hit Page 10 retard.
Do you ever play? Why, think long and hard about the answer, just why?
Learning about what you enjoy and why you enjoy it is enjoyable in of itself.
>>46518352
I enjoy the contrast between expectation, desire and outcome. I'm essentially in it to hypothesize about different worlds, different peoples and how such things could interact. The inevitable ironies that naturally emerge from such an exercise are a bonus.
None of my friends appreciate these things as I do, sadly, and for them it's either about passively participating in a story led by someone else, focusing on the fairy tale aspects, or just plain old escapism.
The only other person I know who plays for similar reasons prefers to act out and express a theme or overall aesthetic with singular exactness, effectively using the game to create a logical progression on one point. Where as I prefer to see what comes about naturally from the perceived, despite the active role necessary to truly strive for purpose in the ambiguity.
>>46518352
I like fantasy. The time and tech level are somewhat irrelevant; I can enjoy a medieval-style D&D fantasy world as easily as I can a setting full of cyborg wizards and technobarbarians. To top it off, I like cooperative games, I like character dramas, and I like imagining how worlds work when they have different sapient races, various monstrous creatures, and supernatural forces and sciences to work with. RPGs have a way of providing all of these at once, so long as you have a handful of like-minded compatriots.
heya guys, I think I've invented a game.
take paper or mspaint
draw a character
assign 20 points between:
strength, speed, fighting spirit, defense, and intelligence.
(just remember they have funny names)
max in one stat is 10
give your character 4 special moves
specials can be used twice per match. past them, you will have to rely on your characters basic abilities and items found in the arena.
(dont worry, if a character has a gun built in his arm, shooting it counts as a basic attack. just keep an eye on your bullets.)
then give yourself a super. supers can be used once per match.
remember that characters are supposed to be wacky as fuck. do you have an overpowered super? then i guess everyone else will need to jack up theirs. (just dont go too high. then it stops being fun and becomes a schoolyard "everything proof shield" situation.)
then pick 2 elements. elements just match character design and might give you a bonus in certain terrain types.
elements are:
Brawn
brain
occult
flora
beast
fire
water
wind
earth
robot
electric
infernal
angelic
whoopass
average
ice
finally, give your character a radical name
ex: el pollo magnifico
duke dudster
the high noon marauder
rodney here is my example character.
he is a brawn and flora type (because hes a naturist.)
he has average stats and alright abilities.
rodney likes punching things.
then you have matches against each other on maps.
anyone can make a map, just like anyone can make a character.
when fighting, you declare actions, then draw a picture of it happening. if two actions clash, then whoever has the cooler resolution comes out on top.
(coolness does not rely on drawing quality.)
i came up with this on the bus.
tldr: make cool characters, have them fight, have fun drawing pictures.
How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?
I'm glad you're being creative and that you're showing initiative, but I'm curious about your age.
>>46535488
This is somewhere in the uncanny valley between deliberate bait and true ignorance.
OP, what on earth are you doing?
>>46535633
22.
>>46535667
I see threads stretching out before me, where people laugh and have fun making drawings fight. I just wanted to make something people could have fun with.
I might be a little drunk.
Other than Conrad Kurze and the Shit Lords is there anyone these guys didn't get along with?
>>46534136
The World Eaters?
They were shitters.
Guys happily living with elves.
>>46534183
That's Perturabo though...
Do we have some A:NR players around here? I just started myself and dont see a general.
So Spy Camera is very powerful in a full Geist setup, 3 credits, a draw, and knowing whether or not to run R&D is great.
Geist looks cool
Im just starting out though so I bought the core set and 2 expansions that had identities that I liked the sound of.

That's like a goddamn unicorn, anon. Are you sure Slaanesh is real? Haven't heard about it in ages from official fluff, let alone it actually doing anything.
>>46527967
>Are you sure Slaanesh is real?
Is there a chance, like in canon, that Slaan doesn't exist? Like, actually, really. Is some sort of Tzeentech illusion or something.
>>46527967
Slaanesh most certainly still exists in 40K, and has absolutely zero signs of going away. Daemon World, a book recently released, is basically a giant battle between Khornate and Slaaneshi followers with Word Bearers fucking around in the middle of it. In fact, it's stated that the most effective and powerful warriors in the Maelstrom are the Violators chapter, who are Slaaneshi.a lot of them get ate by a Bloodthirster, though, because the Bloodthirster is a hot-shit Bloodthirster pretty high up on the totem pole.
Don't believe the "SLAANESH IS KILL IN 40K" memes.

This article confirmed that some large celestial body is being pulled to innistrad. All the ocean stuff is just where it happens to be landing, not actually coming out of the ocean itself.
Evidently typing "shitbrew general" is triggering.

>What are some top tier decks I can get on MTGO/Paper?
http://www.mtggoldfish.com/metagame/pauper
>Which rules should I follow?
If you don't already have some homebrew version with friends, follow the MTGO card pool and banlist (and please spread this to your friends that start playing with you). Currently the only place Pauper is officially supported by Wizards is online, and they have a card pool and banlist, therefore that is the format we should be using offline on paper as well, since decks and cards can transfer to games between each other with no confusion.
>What deck should I use?
Ask in the thread!
>Is MTGO worth it?
If you have no local paper competition, but want to play a vast amount of Pauper, it can't be beat, even if it is a clunky GUI, you learn quickly.
Some good decks for newbies include but are not limited to:
>Burn
>Elves
>Goblins
>Stompy
>Slivers
>Affinity
>Mono U control
>UB Teachings
>Evidently typing "shitbrew general" is triggering.
B-but! But every edition is shitbrewing edition! What's wrong with shitbrewing anyways??
Also, OP, please remember to link to:
http://tappedout.net/users/fruuty/deck-folders/
Im getting into pauper, andi just bought mostof the cards for my first deck. Im using Ponder and Brainstorm to manipulate the top of my library, and then i use mercenaries like Cateran Persuader to shuffle away useless cards and generate card/board advantage.
The goal is to swarm the opponent and finish them with Barrow Ghoul, Gurmag Anglers or Haunting Misery. For added tech:
>Mortuary mire
>Conjuerers bauble
>tendrils of agony
>>46428822
Added to future OPs.
Would it be disrespectful to open cardpacks/boxes that I didn't buy from the a shop?
In addition, will I be expected to buy things when I go to play casuals at my local tcg shop?
I'm new to going to tcg shops and I only really plan on buying singles from other players. Is this considered bad etiquette?
I wouldn't mind supporting my local tcg shop at 10-30% markup, but they charge $100 for a booster boxes that cost under $50 online(over 100% markup).
>>46516907
Yes it's very disrespectful to buy your packs elsewhere but still use their facilities. Suppost your FLGS or it goes away.
No need to buy everything there but you should drop some cash periodically.
If you are uncool with that host your own tournaments in a local hall or something.
Expecting a 10-30% markup in a bricks and mortar store is unreasonable. They are kind enough to give you somewhere to play for hours and presumably little to no charge. Support them for being cool like that, a booster per visit shouldn't be that unreasonable.
>>46516907
Common sense, anon.
What if somebody walked in to your restaurant and ate chinese takeout and left?
>>46517015
Dropping $100-175(varied from stores i've seen for the exact same shit, namely boosters cause magic makes money) in a single purchase per week is not okay not matter what its for or how much you have. "Oh no i wore my shoes for a whole week better go buy a new pair from Nike's!" Same deal. it just sounds retarded especially when you can get shit at half price elsewhere.
Why are mages always rich?
>>46531081
They transmute shit into Gold/Gems/etc.
They scry on nobility and blackmail them.
Extortion money.
Tuition from academies.
Occasional merc/expert worl.
Wrong way.
Rich people are mages because they can afford higher education, don't have to work and can dedicate to study.
>>46531081
In my experience the average Mage is some late-teen to early/mid twenties Human who's desperately trying to contain their own volatile, magical nature, sometimes under the vigil of some order or another and sometimes fearing for the crippling debt that comes afterwards. Them wizards and archmages, though, they're rolling in the gold, mostly due to their unique talents and the fact that they're all supremely educated in a time where literacy isn't even that common.

Please tell me about lesser used Outsider types, especially Asura and Divs, in your games.
One-handing makes you cool no matter what else happens.
>>46528197
You double-cheeky cunt, look what you've done now
Anybody here had a good experience with GMs good at sandbox and improvising?
I'm depressed, the master of my group is a big douche that wants to force his plot in our group, and i have never found another GM that is better than him.
>>46528005
Sounds like the players need to have a conversation with the GM about the kind of game they want to play and he wants to run.
>>46528040
we already did that, and he doesn't want to change, he already ruined his last group. His only excuse was an epigram (We speak spanish btw): "old dogs don't change"
>>46528104
Then why are you still playing with him?
Okay /tg/ what deck should I make in Yu-Gi-Oh??
Decks already made:
-Agent Fairy Chaos
-Destiny Heroes
-Exodia
-Fire Fist
-Silent Plants
-Twilight Lightsworn
-Yosenju Kaiju
-Zombie Beelze
-Also, Yu-Gi-Oh Thread.
>>46525438
>Exodia
Why? It's not a good deck. It's a one trick pony. It's not fun to play both for you and your opponent.
Komzo :P
>>46525652
Why? I do it for the lols. I think it's fun, well with my build at least, the new one that's going around ygoPro is trash and only stalls in my opinion.
I've seen tons of ThatDM or ThatGuy threads let's have one dedicated to those bro players and DMs that make the game worth playing.
One of my best players stuck with me when the rest of the group decided to bail before the first session (and go with a rival DM that already had a group) he grabbed some of his friends and we had a blast that wouldn't have happened had he went with the group.
>>46519254
But anon, where's the fun if I can't get mad?
>>46519266
Don't get mad, get even.

I wonder how a game run by Mr Rogers would be...low combat?
