I would probably say they're both Neutral Good but started at Lawful and Chaotic; Tony's character starts off VEEEERY Chaotic Good and his near-death experience causes him to see things differently and he starts to understand holy shit maybe there should be some kind of anything keeping the living nukes from walking around.
Cap goes the other direction; he starts off all MY COUNTRY TIS OF THEE which is super-easy to do when the guys you're punching are literal Nazis. Winter Soldier, on the other hand, is about muddying the waters and coming to realise that you can no longer trust grand sets of laws - because those laws and principles don't necessarily reflect what is RIGHT. So he starts going rogue.

Welcome to Academy City. The time is late afternoon, the weather is stinging, and the date is February 16.
You are Kyril Torikov, Level 3 telekinetic combat cyborg and you were being scolded. Nayuta in her usual manner could only be exasperated at the state of your equipment. You had told her that it couldn’t be helped. There were only so many times you could take a thermite explosive in the face before the armour failed. The ensuing explanation of your little fracas with Hamazura earlier in the morning only made her more annoyed at you. It didn’t help that she had told you to take it easy for the next few days. She said she sounded like a broken record at this point.
Your helmet couldn’t be folded up while still missing its left half so you were sitting on a chair whilst the rest of Judgement Branch Office 49 looked on, mostly amused. MINERVA just kinda stared in to space. Kaoru was of course doing her best to not laugh while agreeing with Nayuta whilst Kongou had a shallow smile as she kept doing the paper work. Nayuta clambered about your shoulders. As she repaired your helmet, she continued to scold you about taking better care of yourself and the trouble this today brought.
After your rather public outing with MINERVA yesterday, the grand public of the City had gotten it in to their heads that VERDICT was hiring. Well, it wasn’t hiring so much as finding a replacement, or some kind of back up. Now the crazies were really popping out of the wood work. By that, you meant, people were going around in masks, beating up random thugs, and posting videos of them doing it on the internet. This was not entirely your fault of course but since you were free, Nayuta had told you to deal with it.

The one thing Requiem 2e did right (removing emotional deadness) can easily be backported into 1e if you're a competent ST and CofD is proof that if something isn't broke, don't fix it.

I was thinking about the "standard fantasy races" and a thought came to me:
What would the standard fantasy races have been if D&D had not been inspired by Tolkien?
If it wasn't elves, dwarfs, halflings and orcs, what would it be?

You probably wouldn't have races as an option if not for Tolkein. If you look at adventurers in fantasy stories that could have influenced DnD, like Conan or Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, they're always human. Myths also typically involve humans, for obvious reasons.
It's not just the races, though. Without Gandalf, you lose a prominent example of a good guy magic user. The good guys in Sword and Sorcery stories are normally the guys with the swords, so magic systems inspired by them are likely to be much more sinister and personally costly to the user.

That's what I thought. Early tabletop games were trying to recreate the atmosphere of The Fellowship of the Ring, with the whole "multiracial band of adventurers travels the land and explores dungeons" thing.
But if the standard fantasy races were to appear, they would probably resemble their depiction in folklore more closely than Tolkien's interpretation. Dwarfs would likely be mischievous and magically endowed instead of honorable warrior people, as an example.
