Wrong board, friend.
Go to /x/ and make this same thread. I know, you may be asking for ideas, but...
Trust me, go to /x/.

This. Not even for the sake of "how is ths /tg/ reltd???" and more for the fact that X will be able to give you 1000x better insane ideas.

Tell me about Gelt. Why does he wear the mask?
>>50097719
1) he's ugly
2) he's secretly an orc
3) he's secretly an elf
4) he's a sigmarine from the future
5) he's secretly Vlad von Carstein
7) he's a suit of animated armour
8) he scarred his face in a magical accident, like rulebook claims
pick one
>>50097784
9) He's wondering why you would shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane.
Hey guys I need new non-combat encounters for my game to balance the combat encounters.
So fellow DMs what did you come up with so far ?
Also my setting is close to early middle ages europe with folklore monsters found in forests etc.
>>50097358
Fae trying to lure the adventurers in to prank them. If they attempt to fight they run away cause fae fear steel, if they fall for their endearing innocent look you can make them fall asleep and wake up naked or something.
>>50097385
Thanks that sounds pretty good.
>>50097358
Mythologically-violent storm. The hurricane to end all hurricanes. Violent winds threaten to blow characters off their feet and rushing torrents of water threaten to carry them away. Trees are toppled and smaller ones are ripped up by their roots. Branches and debris become projectiles.
The PCs may end up having to lash themselves to sturdy trees, etc. to anchor themselves. They may have to grab onto floating debris to keep themselves from drowning in the flash flood that accompanies the torrential rain. Maybe after the storm, itself, dies down a little, the land is still flooded from a nearby river, and they have to construct a makeshift boat to get around (and hey! maybe a nearby dungeon / troll cave / etc. is flooded and presents them with a unique opportunity for looting without having to contend with the place's usual denizens, assuming they're up to the task of cave diving, that is). During the storm and flood, you could even have beasts and various dangers show up, with the twist being that both they and the PCs are too busy trying to survive to even confront each other (though if you wanted to make things interesting, you could have the party end up cooperating with intelligent foes--goblins or something--in an unease truce necessitated by the fury of the storm, netting comrades to keep them from being swept downstream to their doom, etc.).
>There are 7 schools of battle magic, one for each color of the rainbow
Please help me brainstorm a general theme for each of them.
>>50096957
Red represents passion, emotion, and all things humans feel strongly about. Casters of this school can read and manipulate emotions of others, as well as shield themselves from emotional manipulation. Casters who go off the deep end either become completely controlled by their emotions, letting them sway every action, or completely guarded and emotionless.
>>50096957
Orange is heat, creation, the forge of the cosmos. Casters of the orange school can bend metal, stone and other materials, as well as heat them to an incredible degree in order to better manipulate them. Casters who go off the deep end may actually melt their own bodies into raw elements by accident, or worse, change their bodies with so many inorganic materials they really aren't human anymore.
>>50096957
Yellow is life, the light of the sun's rays. It can cause growth and evolution, usually based on how much power the caster can transfer to the target. Simple mages could grow a flower, whereas more complex ones can make a hamster large enough to be dangerous. Casters who go off the deep end either end up pouring too much energy into something and keeling over, or using this power on themselves and becoming mutated hulks.
Sup, /tg/? I've had this idea for an RPG kicking around in my head for a while, and I'm starting to put all the ideas on paper. I was wondering if anybody had any other gamers had experience in publishing such stuff through Kickstarter. This would be my first time trying to monetize anything, so I'm approaching the issue really carefully. I will be doing the majority of the writing myself, and would really just be raising money for art, printing, and distribution.
Can't get too into details on what it's about, as it can still change between now and when I start the funding campaign, and it still needs a ton of testing done.
>>50096758
>(((kickstarter)))
>>50096810
Um. Yes. Kickstarter. Is that problematic or something?
For a game kickstarter to have any reasonable success, you need an established community first that advertises and generates interest for you. If you are a nobody, nobody will care.
Also, if you have the idea and nothing else right now, let me tell you that you are at least two years away from having anything publishable.
So how many of you are going to pay the subscription fee to watch this on Alpha?
No one.
I mean it's a cool show and I hear about board games I wouldn't have heard about otherwise but its certainly not worth money.
Also I'm still butthurt they censored the word 'slave' as though all slaves throughout history were black and its somehow an insensitive word to use.

I know this exact feel anon, its suffering. Even when you finally break off forever GM duty, your still mentally GMing trying to make the next plot better. It's double points if the campaign lasts for about 5 sessions then your back to forever GM duty.
>>50096508
Me too. I fear I might have been instuitionalized being behind that dm screen for so long
Why do good people ever fear death in the Dungeons & Dragons or Pathfinder universe? You definitely for sure get transported to a bitchin' heaven paradise to chill with your favourite god. It's not even up for debate either as it's been proven to exist through magic you can see. There should be none of the doubt that some religious people face in our world. Fuck it, who cares whether anyone on the material plane lives or dies?
>>50096161
'Cause I got shit to do.
>>50096302
No you don't. You're on 4chan.
>>50096161
I can see two main reasons:
Firstly, death is very unpleasant. Violent death is painful, and death from illness or old age is incredibly uncomfortable. Sure, you'll be fine afterwards, but that doesn't mean you want to do it. You'll put it off as long as possible, humans are great at procrastinating.
Secondly, you had things you wanted to do here on the material plan, that you haven't gotten around to yet. Once you're dead, you generally stay dead. So you'll be cut off from accomplishing anything you planned on that was dependent on earthly things. So again, you're going to avoid death until you're damn well ready. You want the gods to work to your schedule, not theirs.
Hey, I remember seeing some black and white art of a reimagined version of the magical broomstick posted here before. It looked sort of like a bike and had a lantern in the front? Does anyone happen to have it?
Hi /tg/ newest of fags to this board,
But I've been getting back into Warhammer 40k.
I just want to hear from you guys, you the masters of tabletop gaming, what you think.
I'd love to go Sisters of Battle, love the fluff about them, the models and mostly everything. Except metal models. Literal death of the wallet.
Compare this to my other preference, imperial guard, vanilla I know, but I still really like them as well. A starter battle group is almost the same damn price as one sisters of battle squad, hence the quandary.
>inb4 fuck off
Just looking to get into the game, please no bully. Would love to hear your input/ideas!
>>50095612
If you've got a group of dudes or a Kill Team league, you can try out Kill Team. Smaller-points games that let smaller models shine and avoid some (but not all) of the pitfalls of powerfully broken models and factions.
Of course, that's bad as a starting point to get into bigger games because what you might field in Kill Team is by far not what you'd field in regular 40k in many cases.
kys.
>>50095630
Never heard of it actually! Thanks for telling me about it. I'm more looking at getting into the bigger games, so kill team may not be what I'm looking for.
>>50095647
How quaint.
Beeple-beep beep! If a Space Marine's saliva is highly acidic, wouldn't that ruin any possible chance of absorbing information through ingestion through chemical deterioration?
>>50095378
Space Marine's acidic spit isn't their regular spit, they keep it stored away for special occasions and choose to use it, like how a spitting cobra isn't constantly streaming venom everywhere, and has to choose to spit poison.
A Space Marine's regular spit is just regular spit.
Space marines don't absorb information. They get instinsts passed on through DNA to enable them to adapt to different planets faster by sampling the fauna.
>>50095420
Does this ever backfire horribly?
What should I add to my Fantasy Campaign Setting? I'm trying to worldbuild, but I can't get seem to get any decent ideas, and right now it looks like it wouldn't be able to sustain a one-shot, let alone a full-fledged campaign. You guys are pretty brilliant about this sort of thing, so I came here. You can suggest literally anything, at all, I'm just looking for ideas.
So far, I've got this:
-Humans are almost extinct and are desert nomads like the Bedouin.
-Elves reproduce just as fast as Humans and are much healthier, so their culture is much more warlike to keep population down. Pretty much Celts.
-Dwarves are culturally a fusion between Medieval Germany and Scandinavia, and are currently having a Civil War between Communists and Monarchists.
-Orcs are basically Mongols/Vikings, depending on the region they're in.
-Goblins have the world's strongest empire, which rules 1/3rd of the main continent. Pretty much Rome, but with Goblins that don't suck.
-Magic is based on manipulation of Souls and Life Force. Which means mostly psychic abilities, necromancy, and body-horror type wizardry.
-The Gods either don't exist, or don't care enough to do anything.
Alright, you have your world as it is now
Now think of how it was created.
Now following in everything in between
Add only what you think is necessary and what things your players are interested in doing, from there you can elaborate and grow the world. Before then, you're wasting time.
If you want a barbarian monster race, use animalistic, instinctive, fast-breeding, extremely aggressive Satyrs, that aren't violent because they're stupid barbarians, but because they're everything vicious about nature rolled up into a savage goat-man. I used them for a Pathfinder Campaign, and they worked extremely well.
Excuse me brother librarian, but how did the God-Emperor's grand battlefleets traverse the galaxy during the Great Crusade?
The technology needed to travel faster than light without the use of the Warp has surely been lost since the Dark Age of Technology. Yet without the light of the Astronomican to guide them, traversing the Warp would be suicide.
When the fuck is this shitty game gonna get its containment board.
>>50095116
You seem to be mistaken Mr Poorly Photoshopped Man. The Emperor and the psykers powering the astronmicon were around from the beginning of the Great Crusade.
Perhaps a little more lurking and a little less posting might serve you well in the future.
>>50095138
/tg/ is the containment board. Deal with it.
>>50095138
wew lad, get a load of this supreme faggot
Ok Anons question time here. I just read this book and now I am left seriously wondering if all Black Library material is canon? Because this book has some serious inconsistencies and authorial leniency.
Displays of marines surviving hails of gunfire repetitively against overwhelming odds. Magnus frying some enemies instantly but forgetting that several pages later.
So is there a rule of 'some books are more canon then others?'
>>50095036
There is no canon in 40k, and yet it is all canon. You will go mad trying to find consistencies in all the fluff. Each account of something is a retelling from a different individual and perspective. And each account and retelling can be disproven.
With 20+ years of fluff written for everything by everyone, this is just what happens. Which is why fluff arguments on here are pretty fucking retarded.
Ignore all Black Library is the best Canon
>>50095145
Perhaps internal consistency is more my meaning on that point?
I mean I've heard this before
>There is no canon in 40k, and yet it is all canon.
But yet I've also heard about how BL go out of their way to martian 'canon' between books. This one however just really seemed off overall which is why I'm asking. I dont think 'well it doesnt have to make sense' is a good enough reason honestly when theres no reason for it not to.
Post the music you play during combat encounters. Whatever kind of combat encounter, really. I've taken heat for some of my choices so I'm looking for some alternates.
What do you play?
