Hello elegan/tg/entlemen.
My friends asked if I wanted to do a Westworld style game. At the time they asked me, I had half watched the first episode at air and had just caught the sixth episode as it aired. A coworker suggested after I missed the seventh episode to go back and watch what I missed before going further, so I binged it and caught eight and nine as they aired. Before finishing the series, I asked them what kind of game they wanted. Did they want to play visitors to the park, did they want to play hosts, did they want to secretly be hosts without knowing it, did they want to play park administration, etc. They don't mind a mix of that and I've decided to go the route of them being potential investors with one being a secret host infiltrator from a rival park or something like that. They even were okay with a setting change and I even suggested samurais in a similar time period before the finale even aired.
I have decided to offer them characters to pick from, whatever assortment they want as I'll provide more characters than players. The setting is 1860s Japan and the party will travel through late Edo era Japan. My question is, what system would work best for a game like this in a sort of East meets West scenario?

One thing I'd been hoping to see in a westworld sort of setting was cybernetics and other AI. There was some gesture to strict security to keep unimmersive elements from being smuggled into the park, but I dig the idea of rich bastard guests that hate the idea of the help being potentially faster, smarter, and more competent then they are and sneak in gagets and cybermods. Similarly, foreign AI or unwelcome guests could upload their minds to hosts and enter the park unwatched.
It's hard to say, but GURPS does a really good job at providing equipment and options for a lot of different eras and people. I ran a drunken kung-fu fighter in my last pseudo-medieval fantasy game and it worked very well. You will want the Low Tech book, the Basic Set, and you should be good.
So the memes have got me interested in the world of 40k. I'm a brokenigger so the actual game is off the table. Where should I start as far as just learning about the universe? I think I've heard that there are novels, would that be a good place to start?

Hello, /tg/, I am currently playing a paladin in a game of D&D, and since the rest of the party is Neutral Evil at best, the DM and I have decided to corrupt my paladin.
The problem is, we don't really have any good ideas how.
I don't want to just go full retard "hurr durr I am evil now. Kill maim burn, fuck the paladin code", I want the corruption to make sense and make for a good story of falling from grace.
How do we go about it, /tg/? What are some good non-cliche-as-fuck ways to corrupt a paladin?

Best UA? I dunno, the cleric one was pretty good, but Forge seems a bit too powerful. Fighter had two good ones, and two pointless ones.

So I'm conflicted about magic weapons. My party has a tendency to find one type of weapon and stick with it. For example, we have a rapier user, scythe wielder and a guy who throws cards.
If the party finds any other magic weapons, that don't fall under these categories, they usually sell them. I'm conflicted because I want my dungeon and boss loot to be more than just shiny things to sell, but I also don't want to inexplicably have every item dropped be one of those weapons. Sometimes I just want to make a cool magic sword or hammer and not have the party immediately dismiss it. Should I just adapt to making the cooler weapons into rapiers and scythes? Or should I just say screw it and let them keep selling them?

I say, if you enjoy cool magic items, maybe introduce a NPC that's specifically interested in them and is willing to trade pieces from his collection for items of equal or greater value. That way you're guys get things they'll actually use while also making them care about what they find more.

Make magic weapons rarer maybe? Give out more amulets and shit instead. This has the added bonus of making magic weapons more special, especially if they just so happen to be a rapier or a scythe.

Just a simple question, but why are the Ultramarines so hated? I just finished reading a book featuring them and I seemed to forget them immediately after finishing it.
This was probably just bad writing and I am wondering if there are other reasons, since they seem to be extremely powerful and seem to be the Legion most closely modeled after Roman legions?

Mat Ward's fluff generally got them hated because suddenly they were the absolute best at everything, and all other Chapters were just deviants from Ultramarine Standard. Now they are depicted first and foremost in every illustration and list of Space Marines. First in the Codex to receive rules and attention, first Chapter symbol depicted in the list of First Founding.
Consider that back in Rogue Trader, their symbol was actually towards the bottom of the listed Chapters, and it was the Crimson Fists who made its awesome cover. Now, if they were distinctive for their Roman stylings, they might be interesting, and could get more into those themes, but as they are they are simply draped over Space Marine baseline.
5e DMG is the best piece of advice on GMing I have ever read.
All the DMG's have fantastic advice, but I definitely feel that it's the kind of stuff that most new players just don't appreciate.

How would planetary governors like Tywin Lannister interact with the Adeptus Terra? Can the Houses have military conflicts between themselves while still being under the rule of the Imperium?
What about the menace beyond The Wall? Orks? Necrons? Something similar to the Eye of Terror?
