5e DMG is the best piece of advice on GMing I have ever read.
All the DMG's have fantastic advice, but I definitely feel that it's the kind of stuff that most new players just don't appreciate.

I think the problem with the best DMing advice is that most of it just sounds like common sense, but it's amazing how quickly people forget things like basic courtesy at the table.

Which specific part?
I'll admit it's got a lot of good stuff in it but its organization (worldbuilding -> campaign building -> rules) is a bit strange to me.

I think 4e's DMG might have had the best advice of the 3 DMGs I've read.

Ditto. Especially on building interesting combat. I wish 5e had used more of 4e's monster and encounter design principles.
