Okay you "clever" people. If circles have en equation and that proves they exist, then what is the formula for a square?

I've never seen one. They probably don't exist.

Ok /sci/, let's see how smart you really are. Here's a question from a prestigious math olympics held in India last year for the most gifted high schoolers in the country.

>For all even integers greater than 2, show that it can be expressed by sum of two prime numbers.

The problem's made so if you have a high school level knowledge of math (or maybe freshman level depending on a country), you'll be able to solve it so no "if or buts". Now, the kids had 35 minutes to solve the problem but let's face it, since you're not a real prodigy, you have one hour to solve it.

Feel free to ask question for clarity. "Absolutely No Googling or asking others for help other than this thread". For those of you that know the "answer", give others a chance to tackle the problem or post with spoiler.

Your one hour starts... now! Good Luck!

Tell them this:

I wake up in the morning and the first thing I remember is that I have my goddamn doctorate in mathematics, this results in an immediate rush of endorphins and testosterone which will last for the rest of the day. I then get to work writing down the proofs to the theorems that I solved in my head last night. After that I fuck my 10/10 wife while thinking about my research. I then leave without eating breakfast since I no longer require sustenance. Next follows morning lectures gracing plebs with some invaluable insight into my mind and its firm grasp on the most important field of study in human history. The rest of the I spend developing various mathematical structures on blackboards, the results of which will be applied to curing all cancers and building thermodynamically efficient cold fusion reactors. As the day winds down I ponder my surreal existence, I have to dig up my degree to remind myself of the reality that I do in fact have a PhD in mathematics. Finally I fall asleep holding my doctorate and 300k salary slip in my arms.

And then I do it all again.

Hey -
I'm really getting into Abstract Algebra, group theory, and so on, and I also play a few instruments by ear, but never studied music theory as a kid.

Does anyone have any experience on using group theory in music composition or know of what resources to turn to, for it?

>The 24 ‘Monsters’ posts are (mostly) about finite simple (sporadic) groups : we start with the Scottish solids (hoax?), move on to the 14-15 game groupoid and a new Conway M13-sliding game which uses the sporadic Mathieu group M12. This Mathieu group appears in musical compositions of Olivier Messiaen and it can be used also to get a winning strategy of ‘mathematical blackjack’.

>group theory is responsible for the musical mess that is messiaen

dropped harder than the piano in that one messiaen piece

My middle toe went white and numb for about a half an hour, kind of like pic related.

It was cold and I was taking a large amount of nicotine, suns. I warmed it up and spit out the bag.

This never happened before to my knowledge, am I going to lose the toe?

Sheit. Alright thanks, and here I thought at worst I'd lose the toe. Still though I think it might be a fluke maybe? Nicotine and cold air does constrict the blood vessels, for now what can I do so it doesn't happen again?

Thing is though I don't have a medical card yet, is this thing going to fuck me up fast or can it wait a month or so?

what are some of the posabule weapons of the future?

Killer robots is feasible af
Laser weaponry is next. The latest rover on mars uses a powerful laser to split rocks away from other structures. Its also powered by a miniature nuclear reactor. Forgive me for forgetting the name but my astronomy professor showed us several pictures of it.
Antimatter bombs lol.
Genetically engineered lifeforms are already able to be produced but Mr. IHateScience doesn't like furthering the research by cloning so we are kind of stuck until the Man loosens its grip on the rights of clones.
