If you look into the history of calculus you'll actually find that various older civilizations had made use of some of the ideas of calculus, it just wasn't formalized until Newton/Leibniz. That's not to take any credit away from either of them because it takes a strong intellect to pull from so many different sources and see the connections between them, but Newton was serious when he meant that he was standing on the shoulders of giants, that he achieved what he achieved in great thanks to so much of the work done before him.

Yeah yeah, I've seen all of Wildberger's videos on the topic. I know the kind of calculus other civilizations were doing. I find it kinda impressive that the greeks could find the area under parabolas using just elementary geometry. That said, when I say calculus I mean derivatives and integrals.
Those things happened just in the west. There is no evidence that anyone before even thought about those things.
