Is it feasible to fry in water if the atmospheric pressure is altered? How compressed would the vessel have to be before it would work and would that pressure have effects on other elements in the vessel i.e. potato, meats, etc.
>>8367350
how is this different from using a pressure cooker?
>>8367352
According to the table.
Over 1000 PSI would be needed for the water to be able to heated to temperatures somewhat reflective of temperatures oil can reach at atomspheric pressures. I would imagine the pressure would have consequences on other matter in the pressurised compartment.
Basically I have a very general question. Is it possible to achieve the same cooking effects of deep frying without using oil?

is the idea of "psychopaths" meme science? is there any remotely credible source that would give cause to believe it's not an utterly arbitrary grouping? wikipedia says it's not a legitimate diagnosis, but is there even a consistent definition? if so, who uses/advocates it and are they credible?
All mental disorders are social constructs. Psychopathy exists as long as we all decide on certain biological or behavioral markers.
>>8367297
but does anything make it, in any way, not arbitrary?
if so, source?
>>8367274
I believe i saw an interview ith a neuroscientist claiming to have found strong correlation between certain brain-activities and risk for psychopathy.
Wierd thing is he had a psycho-brain HIMSELF wich was kinda cool.
He seemed pretty bent on severe psychopathy being a "real thing"
to scholarary work out of these 3 popularizers
typo: sorry i meant scholarly
out of the 3..Sagan has i think the most serious work
although not a physicist and not in the picture...I think Dawkins had more scholarly influence on the field of biology than any of those guys had in physics
Contributed to what?
Making documentaries and fake smiling?
Bought this about a month ago for a couple bucks.
Still for the life of me can't tell what it is.
Any geology guys wanna help me out?

best science in your opinion? chem is best science
op here, inorganic chem to be exact
Chem is applied physics, which is applied math. ... so, by that logic, the best science is obviously women's studies... (jk physics seriously tho)
Political Science best science objectively. It literally controls all the other sciences. If you're good enough at political science you could open up any line of in-query in any other science via funding and probably figure something out.

For a faggot like me who is planning to attend Medical School, is it possible to be as good as this guy? If not, then what's the point of even doing medicine if you can't be the best?
>inb4 hur dur its a fictional character
I'm aware you fucking micropenis just answer the damn question
Yes, no, maybe so!
Consider the following:
he's like 45 y/o.

>what's the point of even doing medicine
lots and lots and lots of money
>if you can't be the best
precisely, you don't even need to
so as a bio major I'm required to participate in scientific popularization projects, and one of them involves teaching genetics to a bunch of high school brats. does anyone know anything practical I can do in a school besides some crappy strawberry DNA extraction?
I thought about a chromosome preparation but the protocols I know require a centrifuge.

>Pair the boys and girls together (this is horny teens were dealing with)
>have them each write down on a strip of paper (colored for gender) some tgca in random order. make sure only they know it.
> gather strips
>select three and put a red D on each. (representing a terrible genetic disease)
>Now mix it in a bowl and have the students take turns picking from the bowl without looking
>get all girls to show their genes. get their partners to show their genes.
>bring up the ones with the disease.
>whisper to them that its disease, ask them to spread it to as many as possible.
>have students get new strips and write down their sequence on each
>have them add the paired sequence from other students
> collect all who have the disease sequences
>tell them they have a rare disease, called horny-teen-syndrome
>proceed to have orgy
The last two you can ignore if you want. but try the rest however you want, it will be entertaining

In yet another setback for the field, researchers have failed to replicate two studies showing that basic techniques can reduce racial achievement gaps and improve voter turnout.
>Bryan’s two experiments, completely failed to replicate the original effects.
>The small sample size of the original study “would have tanked the paper from consideration in a serious political science journal,” she says.
>This time, they went bigger, recruiting 449 minority children. And this time, they found that the writing exercise had no effect at all.

aren't you supposed to be good at science?
He said that scientists are not the "cool-headed logicians" they are presented to be in the media and cultural canon. It is merely a power process. Often just by people who have no other physical prowess. Was he right? Okay, since you agree, why do you study? I seriously hope you aren't a technology-enabler.

>He said that scientists are not the "cool-headed logicians" they are presented to be in the media and cultural canon.
But I am since I have anhedonia.
Successful scientists - meaning the ones that after the PhD and 5 years post doc get tenure and years later a Professor position for life - are clever dedicated people who can talk like businessman if necessary.
The "cold logican scientist" is the year long friend of that scientist, who has even higher scientific skill but ends up earning 1/3 of this guys pay, and travel expenses, and marries the ugly relatable female scientist from the group 3 doors down.
If you're an autist, don't expect to get far. Can you give a prep talk to get money for your group in front of 50 important people?
