How did we reach the point where people started to think "I'm so right that you're not allowed to question how right I am or else your opinion is irrelevant" is proper science?
Is this not the most anti scientific sentiment accepted in the scientific community?
it started with holocaust denial
both are disgusting limitations on free speech

literally don't have to listen to your fucking bullshit, you genuinely don't have the right to harp on about how the earth is flat etc., noone has to listen to you
another example: hate speech will probably get you punched in the fucking face before it makes some SJW cry
Gotta love a sunburnt country ;)

But every study that tries to link climate change is doing exactly that, questioning AWC. It's just that their results are not the ones YOU personally want, so you probably dismiss them as part of a global conspiracy of climate scientists.

What is it like to have an IQ of 85?
If you attended a selective school (public or private) and attended an elite university before going into a professional career, it's quite possible that you have never had a good friend - or even more than an acquaintance - with an IQ of 85. You may meet them in passing; they might be serving you in a fast food restaurant or cleaning the halls outside the library at Harvard, but you're not really interacting with them. You don't get to know them.
What are they actually like in terms of their thinking?
When they are presented with something like a Presidential election, how do they decide which candidate (if any) to vote for?
When they see something happen like a rocket landing on a barge or CRISPR being used to edit genes, what do they think?
When they look at people in life who are richer or happier than them, what do they make of it? Why do they think it happens?
And do they know about their intellectual limits - and, if so, how do they feel about them? I would imagine that they feel quite bitter; like you might feel if you ended up being 5ft 2" or having a 4" penis.
Do they yearn to be more intelligent? Do they hope that one day there will be some scientific advance that will make them more like the doctors, lawyers and scientists they see in the media?
Or are they happy as they are?
>>8360402

Does anyone have an actual refutation of stuff like quantum consciousness and other stuff these Noetic Science people push?

I already went to the psych he just diagnosed me with depression and anxiety which are known adhd comorbidities. He even asked me if I was failing school, I'm just very good at testing, my mind works just fine when it's motivated by extreme fear i.e. I have been absent from class all semester and failing all courses. So according to my dr. I don't need drugs except lexapro (seriously why prescribe ritalin when you can get me addicted to anxiolitics), and I really don't wanna self-medicate. Can you deal with this shit without drugs?

Yes. I got rid of it:
- Stopped eating shit
- Starting doing exercises
- Sleep 7 hours
- Everything related with my past "life" is mostly removed. (Dota, WoW, Pokemon, etc)
- Working for my dreams and goals
But you are a special human, you are too complex and superior to be affected by your nutrition, mental and physical habits and sleep time. Right?
bump
How to get adhd medication?
Roll a 100-sided dice.
95% chance you get $35,000.
5% chance you go to jail for 2-4 years.
You can play this game as often as you like. Is this game worth playing? How many times a year would you play? Is the EV positive?
>pic unrelated
>>8356220
and no this isn't a freaken homework question, it's just something i've been thinking about for "reasons"
and I know the "EV" can't really be computed, unless maybe you factor in "lost wages" due to jail?? meh, my autism
>>8356220
I'd play, probably not more than once or twice though
On average, you expect to roll 20 times before going to jail. So you win 19*35,000 = $665,000, on average, for every jail sentence of 2-4 years. Sometimes you will win much less than this, and sometimes you will win much more.
To answer your question, you simply have to ask yourself whether an average return of $665,000 is worth 2-4 years of jail time. This is a personal question and there is no wrong or write answer. For a father of four who can't put food on the table, it may be a no brainer. For a person who is making ends meet, it might be a ludicrous proposition.
Also for a person who is in a financial emergency that would be completely solved with $35,000, it's likely worth the risk. Especially if it's a medical emergency.

Was his day basically all math?
while its true that the architecture wasn't really his work, but he did have a role in implementing in a computer for the first time I believe, and promoting it
even so, he still literally invented game theory, with that singular achievement he would already be in the annals of math history, he also did a bunch of other stuff (read the first post)
what are some /sci/ approved antidepressants? i want to not feel like killing myself anymore, but not at the expense of my motivation (which, due to depression, i don't have much of anymore)
The only antidepressant is time
Eventually it doesn't hurt anymore. Probably because you're dead.
Alternatively, do cocaine and get laid.

>A rock is tossed straight up with a speed of 22 m/s When it returns, it falls into a hole 10 m deep.
how do i find the final velocity as it hits the bottom of the hole?
i know this is a retarded question, but the formula vf^2=Vi^2+2a(xf-xi) doesn't get me the right answer
>>8355088
You first have to find out how far up the rock goes, then add that length to your 10 meters and then do the calculation.
Use
s = s_0 + v_0 * t + a * t^2
to find out how far up the rock goes.
Then add the 2 lengths and use that same equation for finding out how long it takes the rock to fall down to the bottom og the hole.
Then use
v = v_0 + a * t
to find out the final velocity of the rock.

Why can you get any college degree without learning real analysis? It should be a gen ed requirement. Why is it only the humanities that get to have those?
Math has gen Ed requirements in college algebra. If real analysis was required to get a degree, then humanity departments wouldn't exist because they wouldn't have any graduates and no funding

Possibly coincidence but are you just saying "if real analysis was required" because that's what your currently taking?

the problem isn't with the food, but with the actual person
