Your head throbs and your eyes burn, every blink feels as if the inside of your eyelids were covered with sandpaper. You try to sit up but feel the cold sting of metal on your chest as you barely peek open and see the massive iron bar holding you in place. You lift your arms about 5 inches before they stop abruptly due to the chains wrapped around your wrists.

You lift your head and look around the room, glowing circles in the walls provide dim light barely bright enough to allow you to see your feet. The dark stone of the room keeps the room feeling damp and humid, making the sweat covering you from evaporating into the warm air. You hear the hiss of air and the clicking of metal before a cool breeze enters into the room as well as the sound of multiple footsteps. A woman with bleach blonde hair pulled into a tight bun looks down at you past her nose and wire framed glasses.

"Hello there, would you like to get up?" She asks sweetly, her perfume an intoxicating mixture of vanilla and cinnamon.

An individual in a full riot suit carrying a large cattle prod approaches and pulls a key from a velcro pack on it's waist.

"Release them?" It says

She holds up a hand and looks back at you smiling.

"If our guest would answer we would know. What do you say, stranger?"

>Fuck you.
>Yes please.

>SIR, WHAT HAS PLAGUED OUR GOOD CATALOG
Basically, you try and make as much money as possible by using the stock market to your advantage. You start with a solid loan of $25,000, and you use that to take the market.

>What do I do, exactly?
There are four stocks you can invest in-- Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Epsilon. Each of them will start at a randomly generated price from $10 to $80, updating every turn, meaning you can either lose or gain money, never knowing if the price after will be higher or lower. At the end of the fifteen turn period, your stocks will all be randomized once again, and the person with the highest amount of Net Worth wins the game.

>Can I buy stocks outside of the market?
Yes you can, by stealing stocks from other players. "Buying out" stocks means offering five times as much as the stock is worth at that moment and getting them right from other players. For example, if a stock is worth $30 each, you can buy the same stock from other players for $150 each.

>How is Net Worth calculated?
Your Net Worth is whatever money you have available, plus the total worth of all your stocks at that given moment.

>Can my cash go below zero?
Yes and no; there is no limit to how many stocks you want to buy. If your cash goes into the negative, however, you are forced to sell stocks until you go above zero again. If you have no stocks left to sell, and your cash is below zero, you are Bankrupt and eliminated from the game. You cannot buy stocks after going below zero, and if you're at that state by the end of the game, you will still be eliminated.

>What about money outside of the market?
You can get a loan from the Bank; however, those loans will only last a short amount of time and need to be paid back within four (4) turns. If it isn't paid, the Bank will forcefully take it without your permission-- even if you go below zero. The most you can loan is $250,000, and unpaid loans at the end of the game will be deducted then and there, regardless of how much you have.

To get started, all you need is your name. Let's do this thing!

Last time on VenomBuster:

Our protagonist is disabled by a mysterious device that he found in City Hall.

Resident loser Tendou Minamizawa saves the day (But not really. He's just part of a cleanup team.)

We can't tell whether Hiromi Nishigami is male or female!

Now returning to your irregularly scheduled VenomBuster!

I'm really sorry about not updating for a while. Real life took over my free time. Despite the lineart, the design for VenomBuster is still very much in the works.

You refuse Doctor Nishigami's offer to modify your body-- your regeneration is one of your greatest assets in battle and your strength is prodigious enough when actively channeling Anti-Venom.

A look of disappointment slowly spreads over Doctor Nishigami's face and you hurriedly distract them with a question.

"You seem very dedicated to your research. How come? What's so interesting about Venom?"

The look of disappointment disappears from Doctor Nishigami's face. Her explanation is more or less 'Magic'.

Not really-- Doctor Nishigami is one of those skeptics, but Venom can do almost anything with the right dopants.

They're distracted from their verbose explanation once arriving at your room as she plugs in a Gashat into your Genmcube.

"Hey! Don't you have your own Genmcube?"

"Yeah, but here, I can play Video Games while saying I'm working," they say with a smile and a wink. "I'm 'observing' you."

He cleaned the glass with even circles. It had been an early close, not much traffic in Birlo lately -- nobody wanted into the wastes anymore. He had sat the last clean glass down when he became aware of a presence behind him. An even, unhurried turn accompanied the phrase: "I'm sorry but we'-"

Cut off by the visage before him. The figure was wrapped in rotting rags, its breath clouded the air despite
the warmth of the fading day., its voice was disturbingly human despite appearances, although if one
listened closely you could hear faint rustling like a thousand insectile legs over dead sand. "Do you still
have stew, sir?"

"I- well- yes I'll bring you a bowl." Despite the rags, the bartender felt as though the thing smiled. It
brought a hand covered in rags and placed a single small silver coin on the table. The bartender's eyes
widened every so slightly, it had been a long time since anyone had brought that kind of money into his
establishment -- the nobles didn't come out to the wastes any longer you see.

"I can't make change for that."
"I know, the soup please sir."

In addition to the soup, the bartender brought a mug of ale and some bread from that morning. It ate with
care, each morsel considered before disappearing soundlessly into the dark maw of where the rags
ended around where in most folk would be the head. It did not spill so much as a single crumb.
"Thank you, sir. Would you hear out a pilgrim's request, sir?"
The bartender didn't feel as though he had much choice in the matter.

"I should tell you first that the legends of the wastes are true, and that the holy things I go to on this
pilgrimage are not places -- but people, children. Your youngest is one such holy thing. There is a chance
to ensure that which will awake does not take the world, but that which is holy must unite. I know this is
sudden, but I hope that you will allow me to help your child prepare for destiny."

It was strange, the bartender felt as though this should be threatening. Yet it did not feel that way at all.
He could feel himself assenting. Before even realizing what he was doing he was calling out to the child.
The bartender was assured that the child would be cared for, that all would be seen to.

None questioned this decision, and with time the thoughts of the young child would fade. But, while
memories fade existence did not. The child and pilgrim make their way south, towards the heart of a
small kingdom.

As they set off the pilgrim leans over to the child, "Hello little one, what is your name?"

>Who are you?
This is a fantasy setting, pick race and name.

The pilgrim, standing at four-and-a-half feet does not need to lean over much, even for
the eight-year-old child.

"Maegda" Once more the pilgrim seems to smile without their face being visible.

"Good to meet you Maegda, you can call me Pilgrim. I'm going to be taking you to a
new home." The child merely nods. The trip is long but uneventful, despite
appearances, no one seems to bother the pilgrim and the giant child.

You arrive in the Kingdom, more of a city state really, of Roseburn. Here you meet a
bright man who is all smiles.

"Hello, Maegda! I've heard so much about you! My name is Alphonse, you can call me
Al." He beams, "thank you so much." He looks to the Pilgrim, who bows, "It was my
pleasure, sir."

"Well first things first, a tour!" The man is expressive with his hands, waving them here
and there as he speaks. You did take basic note of your surrounding. A half a league
from the outer walls of Roseburn, the short clearly decorative walls of the estate have
a dozen servants busying themselves with various tasks. You can see four larger
building in addition to a variety of smaller sheds, gazebos, and the like. The owner
clearly has money to throw around.

Tired from long days of marching, you plod along and grasp the general idea that the
man gets to.

You will be staying in one of the buildings, the dorms he calls them. There is a large
training hall, with open areas to learn and lecture-esque theatres. Finally, there is the
main mansion, where he along with the servants reside.

You nearly fall asleep standing, and he catches you as you tilt hard to the right. "I knew
I was boring but this reaches new heights." He laughed mostly at himself. "Your
journey was long for one of your age and our dear friend tends to travel quite tirelessly.
He forgets that some of us grow tired, not that I have any right to critique."

"I apologize but I'm afraid there is one last thing to do before I can show you to your
room. Attunement." He leads you to the training hall, bringing you into a small side
room, with three deep pools of water.

He directs you to a seat, cold stone, that you rest in gratefully. "Please focus on the
pools." He smiles. As you do the pools flicker, red, blue, yellow.

Welcome to Zeldaquest! You're pretty much an amnesiac fuck who's around 15-7. You got no clothes on, it's gross, and you only know your own name. Guess we'll find out where that shit lands!

As you leave the cave you were in, you find a tree. Not just any ordinary tree, but one with a sign on it. One that puts a guy with your name on as "Wanted". Guess that's possibly you, but maybe not considering how badly drawn it is. You also see a badly worn sword on the ground, looks to be made of copper from what it seems.

Your options are:

A. Search the area.

B. Leave the area.

C. Pick up the sword and take it with you.
>>
>search the area

As soon as you start searching, you see a guy wearing an upside down mask. He's got a sickle and he probably saw that sign.

Your options are:

A. Lay low and strike from behind.

B. Attack instantly.

C. Lay low and do nothing.

Whatever your reasons, you are a homeless vagrant currently passing through a small midwestern town of no particular note.

In your search for a roof to put over your head, you've discovered and holed up in an abandoned Blockbuster. One light fixture still sort of gives off enough light to see at night, and it beats trying your chances outside.

Not much to look at. They never took down the post itself that once proudly displayed Blockbuster's name, even if the logo itself can only be found on the front of the building now. The little island of grass surrounding it has gotten out-of-control with nobody taking care of this place.

There's an unimaginatively-named local diner just across the street, but they close weirdly early on weekends. You don't understand how they stay in business like that. Do people somehow want eggs and toast less on the weekends in this town?

You were honestly looking forward to dropping the few bucks you have on it when you saw the joint, too.

It’s raining, and the pitter-patter on your windows is noisy.

You stare at your fridge, wondering what are you doing awake at 4 AM. Wearily, you close your eyes and feel the chilly air waft out to blast you in the face. Your arms and legs ache too much to fall asleep.

You’re hungry too.

This is terrible.

Everything is terrible.

Grabbing a carton of milk, you decide the best way to tide over the crushing pressure of existence within this limbo state is with cereal during the dead of night, particularly one that consists of dehydrated marshmallows that you exclusively—almost, actually—choose to pour into a bowl.

Kaori’s still sleeping—check.

Spoon—check.

Mouth—check.

You open your mouth, allowing yourself to surrender to yet another meal that you should not be having after today. Yesterday? It doesn’t matter. You pause in the middle of a mouthful. A noise from your balcony.

...It must be raining sideways.

Slowly, you resume your idle munching. You’ve made a mistake. There should’ve been more cereal with that one. The next one will strike the perfect balance. You raise it, staring intently. Yes... the ratio of marshmallow to cereal is spot on, golden, absolutely flawless... but the milk is off. Carefully, you rock the spoon back and forth, slowly and watchfully draining cow juice.

You give pause as you reconsider what you’re doing.

Without warning, the window to your balcony slides open and your class president steps inside, spottily soaked.

Kururi awkwardly looks around, her gaze drifting from the floor to the walls and then you. “H... Hi.”

Welp, this is it, you’ve lost your mind. You’re starting to see things now.

She stares at you.[/b ]

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a twenty-seven year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

Bulma decides to transport herself, you, and Oolong by airship to meet up with the others. It's not exactly roughing it, but she promises to keep technology put away once the actual camping part of the trip begins. She also refrained from putting everyone gear in capsules, meaning that once this airship actually lands, you'll all be forced to carry things the old-fashioned way.

Really, that means nothing to you; Bulma and Oolong are going to be the ones that have difficulty carrying everything. Then again, they might just stick you with carrying their stuff.

"You know, I'm kind of surprised Chi-Chi and Suno aren't coming," Bulma remarks as the ship leaves West City behind. "Suno strikes me as someone who might enjoy it, and Chi-Chi definitely shouldn't have a problem with it."

Previously... Miho Tsukada, the one true Heavenly Child, led her colleagues into battle against their first Tyrant class Intruder. Despite being scattered and disorientated, the beleaguered girls came together to defeat their enemy. A definite victory, but many questions remain. Deep within the Necropolis, a great seal waits to be opened – what lies behind it, deep within the Umbra? What role will the Sentinels play in this coming drama? And, more importantly, will Ayane ever settle down with a good man?

>Twitter: https://twitter.com/MolochQM
>Previous thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Heavenly%20Child%20Quest

While you could never say that the storm passes without incident – there's a lot of noise and fuss, along with a few days of almost apocalyptic weather – the damage is all entirely mundane in nature. Common drama and human interest stories aplenty, but nothing that indicates Intruder activity. No mysterious disappearances, no unexplained deaths. A new Idol takes the music world by storm, but that's not the sort of crime that you can do anything about.

No matter how much you might wish otherwise.

As suddenly as it arrived, the storm was swept out again, leaving the people of Ark City to shake off the trauma and get back to work. Salarymen went back to working for their corporate owners, while students went back to their regularly scheduled classes. You were no different, studying by day and working by night.

Although your “work” is rather special, even by Ark City's distorted standards.

A puddle splashes underfoot as you sprint through it, the fleeting shock of cold water barely noticeable compared with the burning pain slowly filling your legs. You've lost track of exactly how long you've spent chasing this Intruder through the city streets, but it's been too damn long. The thing never stays still long enough for you to fight it, always fleeing at the first sign of trouble. So, you devised a plan.

“Take your next left,” Maika instructs you, her cool voice coming though your headset. Grunting an acknowledgement, you fly around the next corner and lock eyes with the Intruder. A thin, warbling squeal escapes it as it turns to flee, only for Ayane's hunting hound to bound out and cut it off. Twisting around like a pillar of smoke, the Intruder slips down the one alleyway left open to it – a dead end.

The plan worked perfectly.

Caught between you and a solid wall, the shapeless Intruder freezes in place. Then, as if resigning itself to the inevitable, it turns and forms ragged claws from the oozing mass of its arms. Preparing itself for battle, its jaw yawns open wide and lets out a rattling hiss.

That's when the world collapses in on it, a streak of metal plummeting from the sky to crush it flat and spear it in place. Slain instantly – although “destroyed” might be closer to the mark – the Intruder's corpse is reduced to slime beneath the fourth member of your little hunting party. Straightening up, the young girl lifts the visor of her helmet.

“Hey,” Emi says, greeting you with a bland wave, “When are we gonna have that dinner party, anyway?”

-

The celebration dinner that Maika promised is running late, delayed due to several factors. Business dealings, the heiress has tried to explain, things that make it hard for her to get any free time. She went into more detail – an almost exhaustive level of detail, in fact – but you very quickly lost track of her explanation. At the end of the day, the result was the same – she was taking a support role, drawing plans and directing your actions, while the rest of you did the hard work.

It's not a bad system, but you can sense a faint impatience growing in Emi. She doesn't seem like someone who believes in delayed gratification, and the lack of any solid information doesn't help. So long as she's content to take her frustration out on the Intruders, though, it's fine with you.

And she certainly is content. You've fought a few minor Intruders since returning from the class trip, and Emi has quickly adapted to combat. Now, she wields her massive blade like an extension of her own body, and she fights with a broad grin slashed across her face.

“But man, all that work and for what?” Emi groans, a short while later, “That little asshole was barely a Thrall. Damn...”

“Hey, I don't mind,” Ayane shrugs, “It's good to keep busy, right? It's either this, or sitting at home and being single.”

“Oh right, you were meaning to talk with...” you recall, “Uh, how did it go?”

“Not gonna lie here,” she tells you gravely, “We never even got to the “talking” part. I, uh, I stopped by his apartment in order to talk things out with him, only... I found him in bed with some new girl. That... well, things sorta blew up after that. Long story short, I'm single now – and it's about time!”

“Wow,” Emi chuckles softly, “You didn't set your dog on him, did you?”

“No, but I was tempted,” Ayane admits, “But... hey, that reminds me. Miho, I've got a bone to pick with you! Did you tell Kurosawa that I was having problems?”

“...Maybe?” you reply with a shrug, “Sorry Ayane, I was worried about you. He didn't make things worse, did he?”

“No, he... actually, he tried to help. Just, I never EVER want to have a cat lecture me about boy troubles again. It was more awkward than talking to my mom,” a shudder runs through Ayane, “But you know, I guess it did help a little. It was kinda funny, and he actually seemed genuine. So, what I mean to say is... thanks for looking out for me, Miho.”

“Hey,” you assure her, “We've got to look out for each other, right?”

Your little group parts ways a short while after bringing the Intruder down, with everyone heading off in their own directions. Sighing and fighting back a yawn, you start to take a slow wander back home. Losing yourself in a daydream, it takes you a moment to notice the car that draws up beside you, slowing to match your pace. Jolting back in surprise – and no small amount of fear – you almost flee. Then, the tinted window slides down to reveal a familiar face, and you relax... a little bit.

“Good evening Miss Tsukada,” Jun Kiriyama greets you, “A nice night for a stroll, wouldn't you agree?”

“Maybe,” you agree cautiously, faint alarm bells ringing deep in your mind, “But you're driving.”

“Very true,” Jun admits, a slight smile dancing across his lips, “Would you like to join me? I'm not going anywhere special, but I do enjoy taking the car out for a spin... when I get the chance. Not as much free time as I'd like, these days. Come, you can keep me company – don't worry, I won't steal you away, I promise.”

Frowning, you glance up and down the empty streets. A few other vehicles drive past, but all of them are operating under remote control. Tonight, Jun might as well be the only human driver on the roads.

This quest takes place in a hyper-streamlined version of the DC Universe, where all your favorite iconic heroes, villains, vigilantes and vagabonds reside. Because of the incredibly complex nature of DC’s existing collective Intellectual Properties, this universe is a neutral, baseline interpretation. This means explicit redundancies, clone characters and multiverse shenanigans will be removed almost altogether.

You will be playing as Rick Regal, a 16 year old high school sophomore who has just moved to Central City with his father after his choosing to relocate for work. Rick’s path down the road to heroism, villainous conquest or burger flipping normiedom is entirely up to you.

>Rules

You will be given prompts to vote over Rick’s actions and decisions in order to influence his path, and particularly challenging actions will require dice rolls and a collective mental capacity superior to that of a rock. Write-Ins are allowed and encouraged, but I am not obligated to use them.

Voting lasts until 10 minutes after initial prompting. Whatever gets the most votes goes forward. After rolls are prompted, only the first three will be counted.

>Dice
1d100, Difficulty Checks intentionally obscured.

No successes results in failure, one success results in a minor positive outcome, two successes result in a major positive outcome, and three successes make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. There are no critical successes, but critical failures result in a removal of a success.

>Power Generation

Before we begin, roll 3d100 to generate a list of power combinations to choose from. I will (ironically) be using the Marvel Superheroes Ultimate Powers Book for the purposes of power generation, but an option for no powers will be provided. Work with what you get.

Greetings, Sophonts of Varying Origins! This is the Planet Mercenary RPG Game Thread.
Planet Mercenary is a new d6 based RPG from Schlock Mercenary!
Players are Officers of a Mercenary Company, living, dying, and managing Mayhem, while leading their Fireteams to glory and riches, under the gentle, guiding hand of the Game Chief.
The simple system is designed for fast play and improvisation. Players can choose to go in guns blazing, sneak around, or even level an objective from orbit, just so long as you build your Reputation and get paid (Hopefully TWICE).
