System: Heavily modified Dungeon World, will explain as we go.

Themes: Adventure, quests, monsters, treasure

The Horse and Toad. While the faces have changed, the reek of shit and body odor that permeates the old tavern refuses to budge. It has been years since your last visit.

You return now for the same reason you came then, to find work.

As an adventurer, you find that while occasionally a message of great importance will come to you in a prophetic dream or some such nonsense, typically the way you make a living is by trolling the many inns and taverns of the kingdom.

You sit down at a table in the corner. The owner and barkeep, Findisier, slogs through another half drunken story of her days as a medical nurse during some war no one remembers. She is tall, and young (you think, but you're not an elf). A patron slumped over the bar may be listening... or sleeping.

You sit back in your seat and think for a minute, before:

>Approaching an out of place looking dwarf. He has a long grey beard and wears blue dyed robes. A silver holy symbol hangs from his neck.

>Approaching a tall human in colorful motley silks playing a harp by the fireplace. He plays beautifully, but the sound is mostly drowned out by the drunken chatter of the other patrons.

>Approaching Findisier. Her silver hair and brown eyes might be beautiful if she wasn't always half drunk and entirely crazy. Maybe she will recognize you. Hopefully she wont.

You approach Findisier.

She spots you as you stand, and begins to shout.

"Aye, I'll be damned to the Nine Hells if it ain't the most bottom of the barrel, low-down, unscrupulous, indecent man I ever met in me whole life!"

She points at you, and quite a few of the people in the tavern turn to look at you. You doubt her drunken ramblings would kill your reputation, but brand perception is important.

>"It's been a long time, old friend."

>"And if it ain't the ugliest elf they ever let out of the woods, I'm that dwarf's twin brother!"

>"I think you have the wrong guy..."

>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a twenty-seven year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

"Son, I want to pass to you your mother's bunny suit so your girlfriend can make use of it."

"Trunks, for the good of our family you must marry and procreate with Kori."

"Want Uncle Tofoo to show you a good time?"

Aaaaand I'm see you all in hell.

A spark alights behind your eyes, and in an instant, your mind is ablaze with unfamiliar power. You grit your teeth and hold your hands apart from one another before you, unwilling to let this critical moment slip away. Your breath grows heavy, and beads of sweat trickle down your brow. Writing implements tumble from your desk, clattering loudly to the wood floor beneath while books rattle against their trappings on the shelves adjacent.

This, you think, is it. Just like in the book – exactly like it said! You’re finally doing it.

…What did the book say to do next?

Your mind stumbles. The world spins, and you retch.

As a fun fact: the one thing that everyone fears to some extent is the loss of control. Fear is the look in someone’s eyes in the very instant when they’re rocking on the rear two legs of a chair and it just barely begins to fall.

When your field of view inverts, you’re wearing fear on your face. You manage, as a reflex, to curl up in a pathetic little ball like a dying woodland creature, which protects you from hitting your head on the wood floor behind you. The chair hits the ground under you and sends you into a backwards somersault across the room, where you land at Ophelia’s feet. She’s looking disdainfully down at you, trying not to display the fact that she’s clearly embarrassed.

Wow, you think. You’re fucking garbage at this. How is it even possible for one person to be so garbage after so long?

You’re trying not to let tears well up in your eyes as you struggle to your hands and knees, body wracked by sudden soreness, on the cusp of beating the floor with your balled fists in impotent rage. So many months wasted – and now it’s over for you.

You sniffle, before the soothing intonation of Ophelia’s voice reaches your ears. She always knows what to say. Maybe…

“Quit being so damn entitled.”

You fall flat onto the ground again and roll onto your back, eye twitching as you look up at her.

‘Soon’ is such a curious word, one usually reserved for when more specific chronological estimates can’t be made. But what is soon, precisely? A day? A week? A minute?

Sometimes it’s far less crucial to know the exact when and where of things then others, like when the rain will fall after a long drought as opposed to when a neighboring army might come marching on your doorstep. At this particular moment for the voices, the urgency was more on the side of the latter than the former, mystical visions of forested landscapes and mysterious, cloaked figures bound their way giving little in the way of a timeline by which to expect them.

Talks with the local monarch would have to wait, then. With a pair of possible kidnappers on the way, they would need to be vigilant of their ward, focused, and above all… Is that thing still alive!?

“Aunt Rosie!” Cici calls excitedly as the massive oni makes her way from the nearby woods, muscles bulging beneath her skin as she carries a writhing, carapace covered monstrosity over one shoulder.

“Heya, runt!” she greets with a smile, letting go of the pull string she had on a cart behind her in order to wave back. “I brought you guys dinner!”

Vivi noticeably shuffles back from the still chittering, snapping crustacean as the oni draws closer, a peak over her shoulder revealing she hadn’t come alone as Mishael waves and continues on his way, leading what appears to be a caravan of horse drawn carts in his wake.

“We brought sand, too!” Rosie adds with a laugh.

“I see…” Mama hums from her place by the fire, a law book folded carefully in one hand so as not to lose her place. “And about that news you said you were bringing…”

“Come on! Food first. Questions later,” the oni insists. “This little guy’s been begging for the pot since we left camp back in Sarda!”

“L-little?” Vivi squeaks incredulously, looking to the beast roughly the size of a cow.

“Yeah… Biggest one there coulda fit Mishi inside its shell and run off. Meat on that sucker was delicious.”

“Ah, speaking of fitting inside shells-” Iris starts, but Vivi clamps a wing over her mouth.

“Huh?” the oni inquires. “Well, apparently the shells of these tasty bastards actually is kinda valuable. Good for armor and whatnot, but don’t let that keep ya from smacking ‘em with a hammer. That’s half the fun of eating crabs.”

Iris is laughing, one eye narrowed teasingly at Vivi even as she keeps up her barrier.

“Also, I like your hair,” Cici adds, looking to the brain now hanging down one side of her chest.

“Ah, this?” the oni looks away and scratches her head a little. “It’s okay, I guess.”

Seems lunch and possibly dinner is served.

For any new players:

Welcome to Gorgon Child Quest! Where-in you take up the role of a magical talking artifact being wielded by a young gorgon girl named Cici. Living out of the remains of a once great dungeon, the game will focus on exploration, character interaction, and learning as the voices of the players within the amulet help guide her along.

Previously... Miho Tsukada, the Heavenly Child, branched out into the childminding trade, stepping in to aid the Sentinels in their time of need. Coaxed out of his shell, the young recruit Pietr proved to be good source of information. His mentors, on the other hand, grow more mysterious by the day. Is it their god that waits in the Umbra's lowest depths, or does Monad rule from on high? And what else thrives in the Umbra's decaying reaches? The Heavenly Child may learn much from the abyss... but will she have the chance to bring these new secrets back to the surface?

Your world has become madness, a blind storm of chaos and motion. Throughout it all, there remains only one anchor, one constant element – the searing pain in your calf, where the Intruder tendril speared your leg and started this mad ordeal. Dragged by your wounded leg, pulled deeper and deeper into the Umbra, all you can do is flail and scrabble at the rugged ground beneath you, your fingers gouging deep tracks in a desperate attempt at finding purchase.

And then there isn't any ground beneath your feet, and you're falling through the empty air. Tumbling down into the abyss, one thought occurs to you – this all feels so terribly familiar. Once again, you've found yourself falling through empty space, unable to do anything but wait for the inevitable landing.

Although you have to wonder, as you continue to fall through this void, if that really is as inevitable as you thought. Time, distance and even speed all lose their meaning as your descent continues – without any wind to tug at your clothes, you might be sinking slowly through deep waters or hovering in place. Even the tentacle that pierced your leg has withdrawn, leaving you with nothing but the ache of absence.

Soon, even that begins to grow distant.

Your eyes snap open, and a hushed cry escapes your lips as the memories rush back into your mind. The weight of your situation presses down on you, but panic – beyond the merest flutter, at least – doesn't take hold. Rather, you find yourself regarding your situation with a kind of weary curiosity. At some point in your descent you must have passed out, only to wake up here, in what could pass for a bombed out ruin of a house. If you weren't already absolutely certain, one look at the crooked lines here would confirm it – you've woken in the Umbra, with no path back home.

Really, you've never known exactly what happens to people who are taken into the Umbra. When Kurosawa rarely speaks of it, he uses the most euphemistic language possible – people are lost, consumed, or swallowed by the abyss. What that actually means, though... well, you've got a feeling that you're about to find out.

Whatever it is, you tell yourself, it's a fate that you've spared three innocent lives from. That thought is more comforting than you had been expecting, offering a balm to your ailing spirit. A healthy mind leads to a healthy body, and soon you feel a warm glow kindled in your wounded leg. Finally daring a look down, you wince at the bloody sight. Simply put, your leg is just barely hanging together by sinew and splintered bone. A gentle waft of steam rises up from the wound as it heals, flesh knitting together as new bone stretches across to bridge the gap. The ache is bad, but the itching is worse.

As soon as your wounded leg can stand your weight you heave yourself up and take a first few tentative steps forwards, leaning on the closest wall as you go. Rough stone chafes your hand and loose pebbles shift underfoot as you move through the ruins, your eyes flicking back and forth as you search for... anything. Anything dangerous, anything useful, anything at all.

When you step around the crumbling remains of a stone wall, you are given plenty to look at. Starting high, you look up in search of a sky but instead, your gaze falls upon distant, unbroken rock – suggestive of some unimaginably vast cavern. Shuddering a little, you decide to keep your investigations to ground level for now. Stumbling out of the ruined house, you take in your new surroundings.

A city. Not like the perverted modern city you've seen elsewhere in the Umbra, or the ancient civilisation hidden beneath the Necropolis, but definitely a city – one that is bombed out and ruined, burned and ravaged. You seem to have woken on the outskirts, the suburbs, with the strangely dated buildings growing denser towards the centre of the cavern.

Pausing a moment to check that your leg isn't about to buckle beneath you, you limp further from your makeshift shelter.

[2/3]
>>
>>1527372

Before venturing too far, you find a pile of rubble and ease yourself down onto it, sitting and considering what you've seen so far. The buildings that you've seen have mostly been low, never more than a three stories tall, and all of them with a particularly distinctive look. Although as twisted as anything else in the Umbra, the slanted roofs and sturdy lintels suggest traditional Japanese construction – the sort that is only ever found in history books. While those archaic buildings were made of wood, these structures are entirely carved – or perhaps grown – from rugged, dark grey stone.

Two buildings stand out from the rest – a tall tower, listing uncannily over the surrounding structures, and a grand palace, a pagoda, at the densest point of the city. Staring at the palace, you let out a soft groan of revulsion. While the lower sections of the palace look remarkably intact, the upper walls are smashed open, with meaty tendrils sprawling out to dangle and sway. The thought of what the inside of that palace might look like...

Shuddering, you push yourself to feet and move on.

-

By the time you've reached a junction, you've noticed something – this place isn't entirely made from stone, there are a few small exceptions. Here and there, you've spotted blind and unlit lanterns crafted from beaten copper, and now – in the centre of this junction, where the path splits off into four directions – there is a sign of that same metal. The symbols scratched into the sign mean nothing to you, but the sign itself is unmistakably shaped like an arrow, pointing down the left hand fork of the junction... which seems to lead away from the grand palace, instead leading to another junction, with another sign in the centre.

A nice little trail for someone to follow.

Which raises several questions – who put the sign there, where does it lead, and who was it intended for?

>Head for the grand palace. It's clearly significant
>Head for the tower. You can get a better view of the city from higher ground
>Follow the signs. There must be something important at the end of their trail
>Other

You make an exaggerated sigh. "C'mon Randy, cut it out, don't you want something? I still got $173!"

Randy scoffs. "What am I your girlfriend? All I need is this map, and I'm happy enough. Though I still think you should've let me get it, but can't complain now, this is great!"

You leave with your purchases and Chinese food, and gather up Jimmy. He shows you his total tips: $17.23.

Back at the ship, you give Shaun the Chinese food in thanks for looking over the ship. He eats the cold seafood in silence. You sense he's not resentful, and your relationship is alright.

You are Sonia Reynard, Viscount of Rioja and a member of House Jerik-Dremine. You and your House continue to gain in power and prestige thanks to recent victories. While still small numerically the other Houses of the greater Dominion have begun to take notice of your strength and influence.

The civil war that has consumed the Dominion continues to rage as the Major Houses struggle for position and dominance. While an ally of the current Ruling House you have increasingly voiced support for House Ber'helum as their replacement.
If things go according to plan they may be able to stage a peaceful transition of power at a later time. For now the two are allies of convenience against more pressing threats.

Houses Nasidum, Xygen and Bonrah form the core of the opposition. The two sides are roughly in a stalemate at the moment but both continue to look for ways to increase their strength.

Forces in South Reach continue to face off in skirmishes and other low intensity regional conflicts. In the Centri cluster the fighting remains more severe. Its intensity had been diminishing in many places but that has come to an end.

In part because of your support for them you've been assigned as the House military attache to House Ber'helum as they lead a major offensive against your enemies. Thanks to your knowledge of the J-D fleet's capabilities you've been able to help direct the Barons leading your forces to where they're needed most. The Super Heavy Cruiser Forbearance and the Heavy Carrier Majestic have supported the fighting around House Ceres space, helping to counter an enemy offensive targeting logistics.

The first few weeks of fighting have succeeded in accomplishing their early goals. Namely, to put the enemy on the back foot and secure staging areas for further offensives. House Nasidum has been forced to delay their own offensive against your allies territory due to the need to reinforce areas now under attack.

FOR HOUSE AND DOMINION
>>
The J-D fleet is in the thick of the fighting near Ceres space, especially the Forbearance. Bonrah seems determined to wear it down with constant attacks, but this is costing them. Attention focused on Forbearance means your allies are able to target other areas where Zeus Heavy Cruisers are not present.
Baron Desh Xisoth has been working with others to lure enemy ships into traps and kill zones. It hasn't been easy. Enemy units are beginning to equip with more antimatter weapons in an attempt to counter the larger ship. Stealthed torpedo boats have especially become a menace. Mass driver point defense upgrades and the PD gunships are again proving to be a life saver.

With the offensive now having become public knowledge many civilian companies are looking for ways to take advantage of increased demand.

Repulsor weapon developers on Kaartinen have developed a new heavy point defense gun based on the larger weapons used on the HAG. This one is capable of being mounted on the retractable PD lifts used by Kavarian Supers. The designers are hoping it will be more effective against heavy torpedoes but haven't had a chance to test it yet.

Did you want to buy some and have them immediately shipped to the Forbearance?
Buy some to put through a couple weeks of testing and evaluation?
Or wait until the company is certain they've worked out all the bugs?
>>
>>1524885
Can we mount them on a PD gunship hull? Or maybe simply buy an old knight class or two and put them on those?

The time is..... You don't care. Ever since the redditers dragged you down here away from you teaching people about the power of the vagina the days have been blurred into one long memory of boredom and anger. Anger at people you can't rip and tear into. You all have been guarding and walking around the halls of this underwater cage protecting this reddit cell for some reason you cannot fathom. However something in you tells you to follow their orders. You don't care however as you just wish you tear apart another Armored Core soldier before you go mad from boredom like Zer-becky. She almost ripped one of those nerds in half before she was put into a battle release cage. You don't like the cages.

Either way. Today you are patrolling down the main hallway between the habitat section and the recreation section. You feel extra angry today as you have been this last week. And every time you see one of those dolphins outside the suit metal glass planels you try to reach out and kill the rapey bastards.

..... It feels like just another "24" hour period on this vaghole of a sea station.

I allow between ten and twenty minutes for voting depending on the importance of the issue and how divided the vote is. If the vote is tied up, I usually allow an extra five minutes for a tie breaker, and if no one votes, I roll for the tie breaker (The will of the dark side).

I always try to incorporate (and encourage) write ins if they don't violate the spirit of voted decisions, though I may edit or tweak them to fit better.

I also am always open for questions. I'll just ask that they stay relevant to current events in the quest, or at least the near future.

"My Lord," the ship's captain says, stepping forward, hands clasped behind his back. "We've emerged from hyperspace quite far from the target planet. Our armor plating dissipates any sensors they might direct at us at this range, but as we close, that effect diminishes, and of course we are still visible to the naked eye."

You understand how the stealth armor of your ship works, but don't take it out on the officer.

"Our own readings do indicate there is some sort of activity or outpost on Rhen Var, however . . . "

"However what?" you ask.

The officer winces, "However," he continues "We are not alone in the system."

The captain and Sedriss both follow you the short distance to the tactical station where a nervous midshipman moves aside for you.

"We picked them up on comscan. It appears to be a rebel task force in a geosynchronous orbit over the planet," the captain explains.

You can read the hologram just fine without the captain's explanations. It's a piddling force, but maybe more than a match for your lone cruiser. A Nebulon-B Frigate flanked by two CR-90 corvettes. If that weren't enough, there are also two fighter squadrons loitering in the area. It looks to be a mixed group of X-wings and Y-wings.

"The Rebellion's sent out their B Team to defend the temple," Sedriss says.

"There's more than that," the captain adds, keying in some commands, "There is a transport ship among the warships." He highlights it on the hologram. "And we've detected a light stock freighter making trips down to the planet surface. I suspect they are evacuating the site."

"The bounty hunters you hired tipped our hand," Sedriss growls, casting an accusing glance at you.

This

Welp it seems we have massive problems on our hands, first off we thought we could take this cult and demon like the others we have faced but we ran into some problems.

Akkaz and Clinks are missing and the two Grey Knights are MIA and probably KIA.

Phe'nia is also out of gas for her powers and quite weak, to make things even worse that annoying bird that keeps talking in our heads has decided to take a hands on approach. which means one of our worst problems is the only thing that could get us out of this problem.

Also we have decided to throw away sanity and charge into the enemy stronghold.

Welcome to guardsman quest.

alright quick and dirty, this quest is not for die hard lovers of cannon since fun and shenanigans beat cannon for the most part. Though I will accept info about the warhammer 40k universe general rule of thumb is fun is king here

You look over at Thera and smile "question, what is the percent chance of us surviving charging in there?"

Thera looks back worried "Seven thousand to one, why?"

"oh, I think I can beat those odds." you start revving the engine

"Oh by all four gods don't you fucking dare."

Phe'nia pushes her head up "Demon get used to this level of insanity with this guy."

you floor it and speed headlong into the front of the building, smashing clean though the rotted building and slamming into quite a few cultists inside, you and your crew bail out as you take a shot at the transport's promethium storage causing the thing to explode.

shrapnel flies everywhere and you take a few small pieces but not too bad (-3 wounds) thanks armor. you land and begin firing into the panicked cultists who are so surprised they can't even fight back. You kill at least twenty before they realize where the bullets are flying from.

>[1] find that bastard Rigmos and end him now, (per, bs)
>[2] order Thera to burn the place to the ground and get to cover, fire worked well before (Thera's WP, ag)
>[3] call out Rigmos, see if the bastard has any honor and then shove your bolter, as dishonorably as you can, down his throat (Fel, ag, bs)
>[4] write-in

OH SHIT NIGGER(s) it's an adventure about killing vampires n shit.

3 vampire hunters is going to infiltrate a vampire castle to kill the head vampire there for casting a spell than kept the world at perpetual night time.

While on the Vampires' side there're two minions given the mission to stop these hunters.

After their initial raid on the Vampire Armory, the hunters managed to destroy some living armors and weapons but were forced to retreat when the first boss showed up. Now they have two choices: loiter around and grind for EXP until they're strong enough to defeat the boss, or head down to the gift shop to buy souvenirs.

While the vampire characters are up in the clocktower regaining their strength after their encounter with the hunters during the armory raid last thread.

Each character needs at least 1 player to be the voices in their head to tell them what to do n' shit.

Just name yourself something with the highlighted title under the character to identify which team you're going with. Example: Regular Hunter Faggot -> Controls Oswell the regular Hunter

Need at least 1 player for each dude, DOESN'T mean each character is limited to 1 player.

The more players each character has, the more rerolls that team gets.

Bob expresses his displeasure for the hunters.

As last time they pulled out his teeth and almost decapitated him.
