I have over 30gb of travel photography after about two months abroad.
Should I pirate lightroom to go through them with relative ease (cropping a bit, picking favorites) or just sort manually by making forlders and shit and just deleting what I don't want?

>We could have 100 MP full frame sensors - for both mirrorless and dSLR - with PDAF for under 2,000$
>This will never happen because all relevant camera manufacturers are extremely racist, xenophobic, backwards japs who refuse to use the immensely superior fab tech of non-japanese companies (Intel, TSMC, Samsung)
>We are literally on early 1990s era processing fab technology and it will never change just because Japs are fucking retards.
>>2775479
>thinking that more megapixels=better photo
>not knowing that they already have 100mp sensors but theyre shit
ya read these facts from the onion?
>>2775488
It's just crazy how bad the fab tech is for camera sensors
It's even more crazy with how expensive it is.
They're literally FIVE process shrinks behind everyone else as I understand.
We're on fucking 14nm in the rest of the world, cameras are on fucking 90nm.
>>2775491
Let me phrase this a way you understand, since you don't understand lithography.
14nm (Intel processors) is 5 stops better than 90nm (Camera Sensors)

So I own similar to pic related and am thinking about using for powering studio strobes as battery pack.
Q1: what is best way to estimate battery life other than just trial and error?
Q2: what other battery packs are on the market and are they worth a damn for remote lighting?
>>2771517
do you have a multimeter ?
wire it in parallel to measure voltage and measure when it drops past the cutoff of your load
to measure amperage , wire it in series
but thats the cheapest way to do it unless you want to drop mad dosh on a prophoto one
>>2771517
if it would even work, you will need a DC to AC converter, once it is all hooked up you can probably expect 10-50 strobes depending on your lights draw.
Q1 - trial and error
Q2 - Profoto makes a decent battery pack that will give you 150 strobes at full power, using their 600w monoblocks, it has a regular AC out so you can use any lights but results may very.
Dynalite makes a good kit for their lights, I almost bought into their system, it is quite nice and compact.
Speedotron has an ancient system that you could probably pick up for nothing, you will need to rebuild their NI-CAD batteries (battery specialists can still do this) and you get about 25 strobes at 300 wat seconds
Battery capacity in Ah (amp-hours) divided by the current draw of the load. In practice it will be about 30% worse than the calculation. If there isn't any Ah rating on the product you could open it to check the battery itself, or just test it.
Hi everyone! I've a question for you:
Do you consider a photographer if she / he use a smartphone to take the photo?
What exactly defines a photographer?
Is camera that he uses or passion?
Does matters if you use automatic or a pro one?
Thanks!
>>2777338
>Do you consider a photographer if she / he use a smartphone to take the photo?
No
>What exactly defines a photographer?
Having a Wikipedia page
>Is camera that he uses or passion?
Money
>Does matters if you use automatic or a pro one?
Pro because of above

>I really like the work of both Lara Jade and Joey L. I'm actually pretty stoked that they hit the success lottery too because they both seem pretty chill and are genuinely passionate about photography.
>>2770236
lara jade makes amazing photos for how utterly clueless about all the technical aspects she is and probably her assistants do most of the planning for her.
joey has a unique style tho
>>2770237
>lara jade makes amazing photos for how utterly clueless about all the technical aspects she is a
kinda goes to show how unimportant the technical stuff can be compared to having a vision
>probably her assistants do most of the planning for her
That's true of basically everyone major so I can't really hold that against her.
>>2770239
Oh, admittedly being in the right place at the right time and being hot doesn't hurt her either...but yeah.

Post the last books you bought, discuss about books, ask questions about books, all of that can be done here

woops
>>2775416
Yup, that's the reason of the name I guessed too after reading the short autobiography he wrote for the book
He's quite the interesting guy, and I discovered lots of pictures in the book that I had never seen before
There are some really amazing pictures in it, also you can see a bit better how great he is in the darkroom, he sometimes colours some very small bits of the images, that you may not even catch right away, but as soon as you start really looking you can see the yellow sepia of the light coming out of a window, or the colours on the united states flag
Great read, great book, I recommend it while it's still being printed and affordable
>>2775421
Looks interesting, I like the thematic and the pictures of some of those guys, I'll take a look at it !
I also got this one, it's really amazing, I love the pictures in it, how Kenna takes the time out of his pictures, the great composition and sometimes minimalist aspect, it's really great, even his early 35mm work is really inspiring
This was my first roll of black and white, and my first roll using an actual light meter rather than completely guessing (second roll of film ever...).
They all seem a teenth bit under exposed, should I open up an f/stop/slow my shutter speed down by one or could this be in the development process?
This was on a Rollei if that makes a difference.

Unless you're posting the whole roll, this doesn't deserve it's own thread.
But to answer your question, it's more likely you don't know how to use a light meter.
If you just pointed it at that scene, the brightness of the highlights would definitely have thrown off the reading.
You should meter for what you want correctly exposed., or if that's too complicated for you, for the shadows, in most scenes when shooting negative film.

Hi guys can anyone suggest a quick fix. I have vlc2 Praktica. I don't want to visit a professional yet. I've been trying to insert a film and I've seem to broken the shutter. It just stays open I have a video too. Advice greatly appreciated.

How the fug do you destroy a shutter while inserting a roll of film?
Get a new camera. Shutter problems are never easy to repair and letting a professional repair it would cost more than the camera's worth.
You could always screw off the bottom and see if something's wrong. Maybe it's a simple fix. Probably not though.
