Is there any specific reason you're looking to buy a digital Leica? I'm asking because you don't seem to be bothered by crop factor.

I'm looking to buy a digital Leica because I got a chance to use one of my photography teacher's M240 and I really enjoyed using it. I have a couple film rangefinders prefer them to my SLR's for the type of shooting I do.

I'm not really bothered by the crop factor. I started photography with a 60D and then got a 5D mkii and full frame was nice and everything but I ended up going back to crop when I went mirrorless with my current camera, a Fuji X-T1.

If you already have film rangefinders and you enjoyed the Leica digital then go for the M8 if crop factor really doesn't bother you. I'd personally save up for the M9.
If you get the M8 then make sure to pick up some IR filters too.

If you're looking for an M mount digital camera with an OVF then it may be worth considering a Fuji X-Pro/X-Pro2 with the M adapter. You'll also have the shutter speed dial and a higher ISO range if those meet your shooting requirements.
It all depends on where you live, what lenses you have/use and how much you can buy an M8/M9 for in your country though.

I doubt it, all the canon rabals from t2i to t6i have the same sensor.

It looks like they got the DIGIC 5 starting at T4i but I am dubious that matters for shit.

It seems mostly all that canon has added on this line in the last 6 years are gimmicks like wifi, articulated touchscreen (who cares) or video (which you could probably do with magiclatern anyway)

ok maybe there is some really rare niche use of an articulating screen but it's not worth an upgrade

This is also correct. It's not cheap, but if you want to shoot those you should look at the 100-400mm zoom most likely.

I'm in a similar situation and am going to pull the trtigger on the `II` series since it's a lens that had been in the pipeline for like 15 years and will probably get at least a decade of use out of.

And that's something that will follow to any canon body when you do upgrade (and apaprently also sony should you go to the dark side)

If you already have a good tripod you're set, just get some cheap cable releases and you've got a great studio setup.
It will probably be much bigger and heavier than you thought it would be especially with the prism finder. I got a tlr after using the rb67 a lot, I only use the rb67 in the studio now.

Yeah I heard they weigh in at around 7 pounds.. That's fucking heavy. But I already have a decent tripod and plan on using it for landscape / architectural along with some studio use now that I have access to one. The only thing I'll really have to learn is the flash. Is it possible to sync this camera up to any studio flash?

If you're a complete noob to film, any camera will do. If it's got a working meter, it'll help you out. If it doesn't, you'll have a good opportunity to learn about metering with your eyes.

Assuming both cameras you have here are in good shape, you'll probably be better off with the Minolta since it's coming with a faster lens, giving you more room to stop down for sharper pictures.

i though about this

it should, in theory, kill the fungus in the glass, but not anything that's not on the glass unless you shove the lens with a shit ton of light that gets everywhere inside.

personally i just keep lenses near a bunch of silica bags I've collected over the years and only have fungus on one which came from ebay with the fungus so yeah

as I said fungus is usually not only on the glass so if you open it up again to clean it get some good ol' IPA and wash everything properly, afterwards, silica bags do wonders.

Do you live in a ditch?

The glass will block a lot of UV, but leaving the glasses out in the sun would do the same thing. You don't have to buy a UV light source. If fungus is a problem, store gear inside waterproof/ziploc bags with desiccants.

Where on earth would you present 165600 frames?
At 24 fps it's 6900 seconds, a.k.a. almost a two hour movie of your amazing timelapse.
Question is, is this what you want to create? I honestly doubt it, so in case you want a steady timelapse over 115 days (with day and night flicker included) for a more reasonable timeframe, say 2 minutes you need to take 60 times fewer pictures = one an hour.
I doubt a Gopro is the right tool for that job - especially keeping in mind the battery - in case it's a looking out the office window sorta thing you could connect it to a computer (I suppose you can use a raspberry pie etc.) and trigger the cam every hour and make sure it does not move. For the cam for proper results you can use a Canon rebel and shoot it raw or a higher level webcam if that's good enough for you.

I guess that I should've added more information to my initial question. We're going to film a house being built so if it would be possible to make something that took pictures from 8am to 4pm that would be the best.

By doing so I would have roughly 55000 pictures.

the power wouldn't be a problem as it could be connected to a power outlet throughout the project.

Instant film is pure shit. The reason why it is so expensive is due there only being 2 producers of the film. Shits not worth it senpai

My tip for getting into is to manage your expectations. And ask yourself why you are interested.

Many shots will be garbage. The film is expensive and the cameras aren't very good. But it has a certain appeal I can't put my finger on.
I think the instant, physical nature of the format makes the images seem more real to people who are used to digital photos.

What is complicated about it though, what are you struggling with?
