I received a "broken" "Sony DSC-P43" digital camera from my aunt. When turned on with new AA batteries, it quickly drains them out. So, does it compensates to pay for a fix, or should I throw it away?

Why is your aunt giving you so many broken cameras, and why are you making individual threads for each one?

I have only 2 broken cameras.

How quickly are the batteries draining? I have a P71 and the battery life isn't that great.

Does anyone successfully use their canon camera with an Ipad for live view?

It would be so damn useful for self portraits and really just anything to be able to control focusing and stuff from an ipad, or at least just be able to see what the live view looks like.

Alternatives are also welcome, just looking for some info.

Thanks guys

I'm wondering if any of you guys have experience hiring models to do very specific or odd things.

See, I have this idea for a book. I'm sort of obsessed with vomiting (Well, I have a phobia of throwing up, which makes it fascinating to me). And I thought it would be cool to make a book of people puking.

Wondering how hard it would be to find people willing to do this and how much it would cost?

And if anyone has done anything similar?

You probably wouldn't hire a model per se. Certain pornographic actors and actresses perform the act for camera so I suppose you could hire one of those for an hour.

For what it's worth I think this a very interesting idea. You'd probably need a high FPS body to burst shot the vomit. Would certainly make your job easier

Sup /p/, I'm thinking about getting a Smena 8m. What are your thoughts about the camera?
11 posts and 4 images submitted.

It's the cheapest eastern european camera. Body is plastic, but it has a better lens then other toy cameras. If you lightproof it with some tape it will produce pretty normal results. I doubt you want that, so better get holga instead.

It's not the cheapest, that title goes to Shkolnik/Student, which is the actual Soviet Holga equivalent (except older and worse). But it's hard to find those outside exUSSR.

Smena 8m's lens is actually amazing for a simple triplet.

Like I said in >>2784399 and >>2784479 , there's a staggering discrepancy between Smena's lomo toy camera status and the actual quality of images it renders. The small shutter and aperture speed range forces you to choose your film iso according to expected shooting conditions, the all-manual nature and shitty viewfinder requires some getting used to, but its tiny size and portability make up for it. If you're inventive and like to improvise the effective range of applications for a Smena 8M increases greatly.

This was a Bulb shot in an unlit corridoor, I pressed the Smena against the opposite wall to keep it steady. None of my means of digitisation (flatbed, DSLR) can record the lens/film's actual IQ and resolving power. On a fucking shitty plastic Smena. Think about that.

How do you get the most accurate photo of yourself possible?

I have photos of myself where I don't even look like the same person and want to know which are most accurate, someone told me if you use flash then that isn't what you look like too, is that true?
5 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>2787547
There are two things that are important in capturing yourself in an image.
1. the light
2. the gear
The simplest way to get nice light is by photographing yourself next to a nice big window on a sunny day. The window acts as a soft box and gives a very nice light that really steps up your portrait.
When it comes to gear you want to make sure to use a DSLR or SLR that operates with a mirror. These fancy new mirrorless cameras don't do the trick here, their picture quality may be better, but we all know that we need a mirror to see/portrait yourself.

>someone told me if you use flash then that isn't what you look like too
Sadly this is true. Gear companies have been trying to create a flash that doesn't disturb the image. Noses get bigger, hairlines are suddenly receded .. I heard from a case where the skin color changed. Even the ridiculously pricy Broncolor studio light setup I have at my University switches your nose on the picture if you use it on yourself.
I could explain you the technical details on how flashes change your appearance but that would be too long for a 4chan post, I'm sure you can find a youtube video about it, fascinating stuff.

Does anyone have any experience with using Praktica B-Mount lenses on Canon EF mounts with an adapter?

I have just picked up a 5D and I want to use my old film Praktica lenses I have (50mm f1.8 and 28mm 2.8), but I hear there are issues with the mirror? Info on google is scarce and in horrendous English when I can find it.

Thanks!

It's friggen exactly like any other adapted glass. So long as the flange distance isn't so short it's fucking up your sensor, the only problem you might have is you can't focus to infinity and/or vignetting.
>>
>>2787511
Is there any info about how far back a lens can go before it will hit the mirror? That's my main concern.

Hey /p/, just bought my first camera that isn't attached to my phone. Went to a party and someone had the Sony A5000 and I thought it was pretty neat. So far I am enjoying this camera, even with not having a viewfinder I am happy. What are your thoughts? Bought it for pretty cheap too, about $380 USD.

Lowepro Streetline looks like a Peak Design clone, and it's cheaper.
>>
I messed around with the Peak Design bag the other day, and it's actually pretty cool, and different from any other bag I've seen. The material is really thin and stiff, and that means the whole bag is really slim from the outside. It looks like a mirrorless bag, but you open it up and there's room for a DSLR.

I didn't really think it seemed like it'd be great to use, though. The ergonomics and organization were pretty much the same as any old Lowe or Tamrac bag or whatever, and the flap seems like it'd be a pain to work with because the heavy metal clasp makes it want to fall down all the time. It's probably the coolest bag out there right now for a casual urban shooter, sort of the men's equivalent of a Jill-E bag or whatever, but can't compete with Think Tank for serious use.
>>
I have the lowepro pro runner aw 450. Very big and heavy bag. Not the best for the all day caring around. But for shootings or if you going to one spot you can carry a lots of fucking stuff in them. All my gear + laptop and tablet fits in there. Really good build quality this lowepro bags but not the cheapest
