Hello /p/
I have been reading that some people are butthurt about 500px using peoples photos without permission.
I have read everything from "oh we just use it for internal marketing" to "ARAHHH THEY OWN EVERYTHING"
So please, if you will redpill me and recommend alternatives

No, they don't steal copyright, it's the same as with any other website that lets you host pictures. It might only become a problem if a client wants EXCLUSIVE USE of a picture you uploaded to one of those sites already. Since you already granted a license to 500px to display that image any other licenses can't be exclusive anymore.
The consequence is that you have to clarify this in the contract before you promise EXCLUSIVE USE to someone (which you can't). It's a technicality that will never pose a problem you can't work out.
I now regret selling my Leica lenses
>>2777703
oh shit its actually on sale now?
also the video said it would work with any manual lens just get an x->lecia adapter

TGFW sony makes a better leica than any of the leicas today.
What's /p/'s favorite film?
I'm relatively new to b&w film and I've been shooting with tri-x 400 for quite some time now. I'm looking to get into some finer grain films such as the ones pictured here.
My new test subjects.
Can't wait to try all the tasty flavors!

Been shooting mostly ilford, tried some tri-x, I liked it a little better for my taste but honestly there really isn't a difference
Don't know about tmax but I haven't heard anything that good about it
>>2776377
ilford is pretty expensive on amazon, do you know a place where I could cop a few rolls for cheap?
Velvia. I wish it wasn't such a pain in the ass to get processed these days.
I just got a new (to me) MF camera, can't wait to go pick up some film and shoot it, and then figure out how the fuck I'm gonna scan it.
Watch out! Matt "Mr. Hips" Granger comin' through!

What does /p/ think of these guys. Anyone listen to the podcast?
>>2776630
Podcasts are stupid.
>>2776630
I would sometimes listen to it while working.
Okay background noise, pretty comfy to hear people passionate about film photography, even if I never really picked up much substantial.
>>2776630
They're kind of interesting but I wish they'd do it all on video. I don't want to listen to people talk about photos, I want to see them.
I had the opportunity to get two old lenses, a 50mm 1.4 Zeiss planar and a 35mm 1.4 distagon, I mostly do videos but I also like to fuck around with photos, mostly street photography kind of stuff
Do you have any good tips to not get out of focus images all the time when you want to stay below f5.6 and you're shooting strangers that may not be very happy about your hobby? Are experienced photographers and focus pullers from the past able to detect the right distance/position "instinctively" without even looking at the viewfinder? I know it's written on the fucking ring but it seems very difficult to do it using only my eyes. I wonder if there are laser systems that tell you the right distance lol.
I suppose the average reply will be "get gud" but maybe there is something helpful that I don't know.
>>2778461
What camera are you using?
>>2778461
Great lenses, OP. First focus your lens, then record the video. If your camera has no EVF, a camera LCD hood would be helpful.
>>2778468
I have a t2i/550d and I very recently bought an a7s, so both digital, but I was also interested in how people with analog cameras cope with this problem.
>>2778471
Thanks, the 35mm is heavy as fuck though, I'll probably end up selling it for something more practical. I don't have big problems with focusing while taking videos because I usually know where I'm going with the camera during the shot and I still can fix it while recording (also follow focus helps a lot), but taking photos of moving subjects in focus is a lot harder. My camera does have an EVF and it helps a lot. The LCD helps too because it can be moved on the horizontal plane and it makes everything more "stealthy".
Yeah the fact that I'm a bit shy doesn't help at all. For some reason walking around with a shoulder rig and an actor in front of other people is not a problem but taking random photos makes me fucking nervous and I end up not taking enough time for focusing, I suppose it's because I'm not confident enough with stills

As a big Chinaboo (having been to China several times and having a pure Han qt3.14 waifu) I am pretty excited about the Huawei and Leica partnership.
I have been using a Xiaomi phone for a few years (lower quality than Huawei) and it is pretty great and cost 1/5th the amount of an iPhone or Samshit. Huawei makes even better phones, I hope the partnership will help them in the international market, it will surely help them in China.
I was reading the wikipedia page on latent images, and saw that if you over expose film (they say 24 stops), it will form an image on the film without any processing.

Probably a fuji user. No sony user would do this as the great low light performance on the sony A7Rii would not require that long of an exposure or such a prolonged stream of sparks. Fucking pisses me off.

what in the holy hell possessed them to make a fucking APS-H camera in 2016?
I actually kind of love how delightfully bonkers Sigma can be sometimes. SA mount is a stupid thing to do, though, they'd be much smarter to offer it in F or EF and pitch it to Canikon shooters who want a mirrorless option that shares lenses with their systems.
>Sigma SA mount
Literally why
