This was my first roll of black and white, and my first roll using an actual light meter rather than completely guessing (second roll of film ever...).

They all seem a teenth bit under exposed, should I open up an f/stop/slow my shutter speed down by one or could this be in the development process?

This was on a Rollei if that makes a difference.

Unless you're posting the whole roll, this doesn't deserve it's own thread.
But to answer your question, it's more likely you don't know how to use a light meter.
If you just pointed it at that scene, the brightness of the highlights would definitely have thrown off the reading.
You should meter for what you want correctly exposed., or if that's too complicated for you, for the shadows, in most scenes when shooting negative film.

How are these a "teenth" under-exposed, cumsuckler?
Resize these snapshits.

Cool renditions of late autumn plantlife stuff.

My rule of thumb is to always meter for shadows or, if everything's uniformly lit - the darkest thing in the shotnI still want properly exposed. Film's very lenient with overexposure, esp. for digitising your shots, so when in doubt always overexpose one stop if it doesnt mess with your desired dof/shutter speed.

Are you sure your meter is working properly? Older ones can give readings that are off by a few stops, can be checked by bracketing a scene and choosing the optimal exposure (so better to do with 35mm, less frames used up per roll).

>>2771495
Good deal, thank you. I guess I was just metering for the whole scene and nothing in particular (some of the shots I couldn't, but I could have in that first shot).

>>2771430
I think this one would be pretty nice without that tree in the foreground. Is that fog over the water, or do you have a light leak across the middle?

It's really tough to judge exposure by looking at the finished product of an unknown scanner operator. Anyone that says differently doesn't know what they are talking about. Only if the negative was grossly over/under exposed would it be apparent in the finished product. Seeing as this was scanned with a Noritsu, I'm going to assume this was done at a lab. A mix of auto-magic levels and manual adjustment intervention based upon the scanner operators level of interest that day. A cell phone photo of you holding the negative up to a light source would tell us more about your exposure accuarcy than these pics will.

Pic related is a good example. 6 stops difference between these photos. You might notice a slight difference when viewing all 4 at the same time. You would NOT be able to judge exposure if I had posted just one of these individually.

might be able to tell if it's underexposed since it's got that crushed blacks look and that's the signature hipster film look that everyone learns
