>tfw move from 500 ft elevation to 4300 ft
>tfw my shitbox miata gets even slower
fuck

According to this I lost about 17 bhp
Hint: Turbochargers increase intake air pressure to a set amount.
should've bought EcoBoost

The county I moved to has really strict emissions laws and my car is OBD2 unfortunately. Not sure how to get around them yet. I need to do some research

Is it really that drastic? When I go from 4000ft to a 7200ft mountain pass it feels like having the drag of the AC compressor but nothing too drastic.
>>16403844
Run a parallel ECU and leave the stock one just for monitoring purposes.

I legitimately got outrun by a bobtailing semi truck going uphill the other day. around 5400'. my turbocharged F150 and Mustang suffered negligible power loss but this thing is so fucking slow it's borderline dangerous.
Wouldn't a turbo solve all your problems?

It's a civic drivetrain dragging along 4000lbs. The thing is a pig at sea level.
>Moving to Colorado
>Car I was planning on buying is turbocharged
>The tarbo offsets power losses from the altitude
My Miata is going to be fucked, though.

>No matter what I enter I'm getting less than 1 BHP loss at a mile up
Am I missing something here
>>16403798
Meme confirmed. I live in Flagstaff AZ, altitude 7000 feet. I gain 76 horse power when I visit family in Phoenix. You wouldn't think it would be that noticeable in a crew cab Silverado, but damn it IS. The time I went to San Diego, I couldn't keep the tires from chirping at every light because I'm used to accelerating at high altitude. When I lived in Colorado I drove up pikes peak and yes you can really feel it at 14k feet. There is a road at 12k feet through Rocky Mountain National Park that is a great driving fun as well.

Doable I guess. I plan on picking up a Megasquirt sooner or later. Unfortunately this state does inspections as well and I think they'd notice a snail in the engine bay
>>16403860
Feels pretty drastic to me. 13% HP loss is detectible on my butt dyno
>>16404087
A snail in the engine bay shouldn't be a problem if all readings from the ECU ar perfectly normal, right?
>>16404097
Not really sure honestly. Here's the site
http://dmv.utah.gov/register/inspections
I can't believe they test cars all the way back to 1967. That's even worse than commiefornia
>>16404107
I've heard of people running parallel installs to pass OBD2 testing, so I assume they won't complain if all the readings from the scanner are in order.
I;m not sure either, I'm far from an expert on US vehicle inspections.
