what car would you recommend from 2006 or newer in 2nd hand? Preferably french, or Ford, since they have the most mechanics in this area

Follows Paris from Monday.
Go with a seat Ibiza.
Fiat punto
Renault twingo
Should I get a Jeep Wrangler? I have a 07 Tiburon atm, but I've put some serious miles on it. My parents are going to help me finance whatever is in our range and a used wrangler is right in it. I have only driven one before but I fell in love with it
>>16510352
no.
If you want a Jeep-esque off-roader after the YJ. get a Toyota FJ Cruiser.
If you want an actual car, get an 06-11 Honda Civic Si. Specifically the Si.
>>16510355
Why an FJ cruiser? It's more than twice as expensive as Wranglers I've been looking at. My roommate has a Honda Civic and I've driven it before and think it's lame as fuck to be honest, my man

>my parents
Stopped reading right there.

This sttle the GT-R vs. Z06 faggotry:
SNEK IS GODMACHINE
Hey /o/ I moved up to Canada from Florida earlier this year and as someone who's driven manual/automatic in an environment thats always been the same, I'm having some trouble adjusting to winter driving and its becoming clear my shitbox isn't going to hold up much longer up here and looking at new vehicles I've realized how little I know about cars.
What's the best place to learn about cars starting from the ground up? I barely know how to interpret the statlines of cars outside of looking at mpg and 0-60 to determine how fast it seems.
What are the best vehicles for driving in Canada? I'm in Alberta so its packed.
Whats the best places to learn about driving? I can handle myself ok on the road but I'm overly cautious and want to improve my driving skill.

>What are the best vehicles for driving in Canada?
Get a manual transmission Subaru. but beware rust when looking at them
In 1995, Subaru made all their cars come standard with AWD in America/Canada. What they didn't wide;y advertise was that there is a major difference in the power split between automatic and manual cars.
With automatic cars, 90% of the power goes to the front wheels, essentially making it FWD.
With manual cars, it was an even 50/50 split making manual cars better in the snow.
Also beware headgaskets. Late 90s Subarus were known for them being problematic. The gaskets were redesigned around 2002 so if the gaskets have been replaced, the problem will likely never pop up again.
Also check when the timing belt was replaced. IIRC, they should be replaced every 60,000 miles.
something to remember about driving in snow is to never completely stop. If you stop, you will get stuck. You want to keep momentum as much as possible.
Snow tires are also a thing. Get some. /o/ recommends Bridgestone Blizzaks
>>16510327
Ah ok, a lot of this sounds like gibberish. Wheres the best places for a guy to learn all about car parts and what to look out for?
A lot of canadians I've talked to swear by trucks and SUVs in snow.
>>16510358
You from Calgary ?
So I think the hood and bumper are hideous, but I like the idea of fender kits on a trans am, what are your opinions on such a thing?
>>16509974
i'd rather just have a kit car that uses a transam/camaro as a donor car, like the factoryfive 818 but good looking
>>16509974
It looks pretty sweet desu.
well its one of the ugliest cars ever made so theoretically it needs all the help it can get
problem is that looks like shit and I like the whole Rocket Bunny Liberty Walk RWB stuff
Post off road machines. Dob't drive on the pavel. Drive on the dirt and snow.
>tfw street tires
Just a few more months... a-atleadt I have that ice grip, r-r-right guys?

Having the phone number of a guy with a winch is also a bonus.
I had an idea, /o/.
I want to buy a busted up piece of shit, wrap duct tape on the body panels, actually for fixing or just for aesthetics, then get some decal prints of Red Green's head and torso (pic related) and put them on the sides/trunk, with a large print of Red Green's head on the hood. Also prints of duct tape rolls on the wheels. Then I want to rewire the horn so it makes Red Green shout "Duct Tape!" whenever I honk the horn. I'd like to drive around slowly honking "duct tape" at pedestrians.
What do you think, /o/?
>>16509899
You are a mad man but i like it, film it chuck it on youtube for the lulz
>>16509899
>red green

Make it a lemons car and you've got a deal.
Cadillac Fleetwood > Lincoln Town Car
>>16509787
Not an argument.
>>16509787
Fuck You.
>>16509787
There was an 89 Fleetwood for 500 dollars near me that had a misfire and dead window motors but no other drivetrain issues and I still kick myself for passing it up.
Parked my roommates rav 4 in my local malls parking garage, when I got back to the car after work the bumper was hit in completely like pic related but no paint damage.
It's 1 am and He's going to notice in the morning and I have no money to fix the bumper. what are the chances 7/11 will give me boiling water to help me hit the bumper back out.
Use boiling water and push it back out by hand
>>16509714
its still gonna be obvious there was damage. sorry man youre gonna owe him a couple hundred

i bought a brand new 2017 malibu at 28k including 6yr warranty with 2.5% apr nothing down, going to pay off in 3 years. this guy convinced me
need some advice /o/
new neighbours moved in over the summer. they're kind of assholes and and have had problems on and off with others in the area.
last night I (legally) parked my truck over night on the road. they have a rental SUV. I watched this guy smack into my truck from my room. theres no damage to his SUV because it was such a slow hit and his car is plastic but my truck has about $4000 in damage. I ran downstairs and when I got to the door he was already down the road. His SUV's imprint is in my truck bed but theres no paint transfer...no problem I thought. he lives here, can't go anywhere. Sunday passes, Monday passes. I figure I'd give them time to come tell me what happened.
Today (Tuesday) I knock on his door, wife answers. I explain the situation to her and she said I'm calling my husband and slammed the door on me. an hour later guy comes to my door with his brother in law... they both deny anything happened. Even denied leaving their home or driving the SUV that day. He gave me 5 seconds to check the SUV for damage and backed into the driveway quickly in a way where I can't even inspect for damage. he has never backed his vehicles in up until this happened...
So heres the kicker... my truck is being traded in next weekend. the deal is finalized and I've chosen my new truck. this happened right after I got home from finalizing my trade in deal. I need to have this fixed in order for the dealer to not void the transaction.
Now, I don't want to be a dick but I've already called the local PD to get some advice. if I get the police involved they will be charged with hit and run, failure to remain and failure to report a MVC. On top of all that they'll have to fix the truck. Should I be that guy and just call the cops or try to talk to this guy some more... I'm not money hungry but I also don't wanna get fucked on my trade in. I can't believe people can be this shitty.
pic related, its the SUV.
>sees it happen right in front of his eyes
>Doesn't take a picture
>Waits days to do anything about it
>They deny it
>o-oh k
I bet this guy comes over and fucks your wife
Bitch wtf how.

Is this a good car to learn to wrench on /o/?
That's an incredible deal in my opinion. My dad had a 2001 S70 he drove to 400k kilometers before my brothers girlfriend crashed and totalled it. It never had problems besides stupid little electrical things and the anti theft thing would lock him out of the stereo. I don't think you will need to wrench on it much but it's a good, reliable and smooth daily driver.
don't get any 70 model made between 2000 and 2004.
the second generation of the 70 models were some of the first with electronic throttles instead of mechanical ones and they had a few issues. I owned a manual 2003 xc70 and after about 250xxxkm they electronic throttle got bugged out and would randomly cut power to the engine when using cruise control.

My work commute just went from 2 miles to over 60 a day, sometimes more. Want something fun, and efficient. Not a fan of Civics, and used to hate on them before I drove one.

we recommend Civic Si's all the time. Get a 2006+ one. Preferably a sedan
