I was under the impression that this isn't for the health of the cooling system but for the gaskets. From what I can understand this stuff helps hugely with the bad headgaskets

There were probably two major different formulations in its history with one mentioned on a forum as being a relabeled british radiator stopleak additive. Both are in the category of stopgap measures but apparently they work. Fur how long, I don't know. From what others say on forums, the early version was the "chunky" and the other one was "not chunky".

OP, please compare your Subaru bottle to the British brand bottle of RadWeld radiator stopleak additive. The bottles sure look similar. So it is probably a rebadged product. I guess that in the early days, Subaru needed a stopgap product right away, so it came out with the chunky formula. I guess that bought time for them to negotiate a deal with Holt to relabel their product for Subaru dealer use and presumably higher price. You know how much you paid for your Suby additive and you can look up the Holt product at UK amazon and wherever else for a price comparison. Pour it in and let your Subie enjoy some hair of the dog.
