So what's the deal with the Mazda 3 hatch?

Currently, I use 2001 Protege sedan (4spd automagic) and I was looking to upgrade. I'll be getting the GT trim, newer than 06 (for that 5spd shiftable auto), and it'll be my new daily.

Don't wanna hear complaints about automatic, it's my daily and i'm building an RX8 manual as a weekend car, besides the wife might need to drive it.

Are these good cars? Is it slightly faster than my Protege? Just want a comfy hatch that can haul shit and still be sorta exciting.

I think they had torque steer problems but idk
>>
>>16505242

Bullshit. There's no way you can get any important amount of torquesteer from the stock 1600cc or 2000cc engines. The 2300cc DISI turbo on the other hand...that's a fucking amazing engine but you will get torquesteer like in any other powerful FWD car.
>>
>>16505252
OP here, I was looking at the 2.3, but the NA one in the GT trim, not the turbo one because it's only manual and it's impossible to find one that hasn't been molested

Your dreeam car thread. Also explain why it is your dream car.

Pic is seriously my dream car. I want black or maybe dark green XJ, maybe do some offroad mods while keeping it reasonably streel savvy.
It's my dream car because it brings together following things: freedom and ability of 4x4, rugged look, ability to work on it myself. If only the mpg's were better.

I own a 99 XJ, dark green as well
There not hard to find for cheap, and the best part about them is if it's a post-Renix 4.0, it will last forever as long as you take care of it, you're dream car is easily attainable friend

So /o/ my stock ls1 only spits out 300rwhp ish with a vcm OTR mafless tune and 1 3/4" 4-1 2.5" and hi flo cats what's the cheapest way to get to 400-450hp ? Can I use my current stock intake manifold tb and heads? It has alot of mileage on it 225k km / 130k miles so it will probably need rings and a full gasket kit put through it as well.

I'm thinking big cam + ported heads would get me there or would I need more?

Ausfag working with a budget of 5k roughly can't do the work myself as I am a retard and don't have a suitable garage yet.

Hoping to start ideas and planning for this soon.

Will have t56 + 3.7 LSD rear by the time I can afford this mid-late this year.

Poorfags so I gotta start saving now.

so, i just bought a 77 nova, but i only has the inline 6. so, i'm buying a 350 sbc and im going to build on that, but im not sure what i should do. i'd like to bore it out to a 395 or a 383, but i also want to supercharge and i don't feel like cracking a block. would it be cheaper to just buy a stock 427bb or should i build a badass sbc? so i guess the question is, will a 350 bored out to 395 stand up to the extra compression of a supercharger? if not, are there aftermarket blocks that will?

Probably couldn't run pump gas with a standard compression ratio, and a supercharger anyway.

Your pic related is an LS, not a SBC.

Don't bother. Get an LS. I have a Vortec SBC myself, because EMP-proof is cool and I love my naturally aspirated carburetor setup. I guess turbos/superchargers are neat, but it's just a money sink unless you're doing something with it.

If you are determined to throw away money on a high-compression supercharger setup/aftermarket FI fuel system, shop for a nice Dart block. I'd shop for a turn-key crate engine from chevy performance if I were you.

So, this happened

>dad's associate karl gives me ride in lfa
>flying by peasants at speeds over 280kmh
>hollyshitthisisbestcarintheworld.jpg
>ff 10 minutes
>overtok some mad looking porsche
>10 seconds later the same porsche flies by on right side while we were going 300
>karl has pedal to the metal but its not enough
>porsche is pulling away
At that point there was very slight and long right corner and thats when we lost him from sight

When asked about my opinion I acted like Im child excited over candy so that he would offer me to drive it while thinking how did he manage to fuck up so hard and buy a fucking import instead of godmachine.

Anyway to get to the point of thread... That porsche was definitely tuned. What does o think about tuner companies? Would you ever consider companies like Brabus, G power... and if you would, would you go with company that would squeeze out as much as possible or pricey company that would guarantee reliable and consistent performance?

Pretty cool shit. Even the ones that do mostly ricey cosmetic stuff.

>Would you ever consider companies like Brabus, G power...
If I had the cash to burn, sure. Granted I'd like to do some shit myself too so I'd have (at least) a second car to work on.

>would you go with company that would squeeze out as much as possible or pricey company that would guarantee reliable and consistent performance
This one's a no-brainer. I'd want something reliable if I'm paying out the ass for it. The fact that I could hypothetically afford the repairs comes second to not wanting to pay for something dodgy.

>Eurofag im guessing?

>Ausfag here not many cars are even stock here, especially if they are older and or desirable by carfags.
That is rare here since its pain in the ass (expensive and long process) to get car road legal after you modify it.

He should order all us car makers to stop making their shit and bring engineers from UK and Germany to teach them how to make car. First 5 years they should only mount finished parts and then slowly start manufacturing licensed part in us. He could employ all those illegals hes been talking about, they are as good as american car "engineers"
